I do remember this series in 80's, this was must have own collection, i am watched only season 1 and season 2, there is a lot watchable, so many parts.
Not all parts isn't so good, but in has parts what are really interesting and thrilling, but in has also parts what aren't so interesting, but mostly i like it, this box set is really must have in own collection, like i said, for every 70's fans and tough fans, i had ordered this, because nostalgia for and i did watched this in 80's, it was thrilling at the time yes!
That what stay in my mind best from 80's about Twilight zone, was that part, teacher's aide, that was so thrilling! It's actually matter of taste, which is better, the original or the new remake, rarely remake is better, but maybe i am 80's fan and thats why i do like it more 80's Twilight zone than that black & white Twilight zone and maybe i don't like somehow that black & white Twilight zone in this case, some likes, some don't, matter of taste.
The show was shot on 35mm, but it was transfered to video, as it was easier, faster and cheaper to edit and add visual FX, on video. A lot of shows did the same, back in the 80:s and 90:s. Sadly the 35mm negatives are gone, so all that's left, was these tape masters. Still better than VHS, since the resolution on these tapes are higher. This is probably the best, these episodes will ever look. But I still hope, that they will find the negatives, at least for some of the episodes, in a near future. But just like with Star Trek the Next Generation, it would take a lot of work to edit everything again, and add all the visual effects. But maybe one day.
I bought the original box set releases for all the Twilight Zones, so I paid a LOT more than 30 bucks for my 80s sets. I really love many of the 80s episodes as much as the original series. Get ready for blaspheme, I think the Christmas remake is far superiour to the original. I know, I know. But I really do like it better. The 80s had just as good a balance of comedy mixed with drama and then the really weird stuff like how to quit booze. Ewwwww. But there was a lot more religious stuff in the 80s by ratio than to the original series. Plenty of episodes with the devil and demons. I loved the sci-fi Christmas one too. Plus so many STNG stars pop up in this, which is funny because the original Star Trek actors pretty much all showed up in the original Twilight Zone series. Do yours also come with all the commentaries? The one about Danny Kaye is brutal! It only got worse when I had a friend who knew Danny Kaye and backed up everything the commentary said. Wow, never meet your heroes for sure. The next series from 2002 weren't memorable. I re-watch them every so often and I can never remember what happens in all but the one of with Joan of Arcadia going to Arcadia. Don't even get me started on the garbage that they are currently calling Twilight Zone. New Star Trek, New TZ, New Star Wars - none of them are cannon - NONE. Just stop already. Get people in there who love the works like Serling did, like Roddenberry did, like Lucas DOES, not these corporate hacks. Now Black Mirror, that's more like it!

I agree brother. The 80's version from the intro to the episodes definitely have the creep factor IMO.

All these episodes are on youtube. The quality on YT is about the same as on the discs.
