Hope you get to check them out live. They're worth it!
I am 56 and I woke up for work this morning with the highway song buzzing in my head from the night before, funny how music can do that, I think the most notable trait of these young guys and their music is their ability to rekindle a long dwindled adrenal rush music used to give me. Consider I lived through the British invasion and listened to the development of the biggest bands ever to blaze trails into all our lives. What is cool is that Led Zeppelin rose to fame at a time when the world was ready for them and they were not hindered with familiarity and saturation of the genera they would eventually posses , in other words they were not hindered by some of the hurdles GVF has had to overcome , all this music has been done before and done to death for decades , the fact that these guys are catching on so quickly despite that, is testament to just how talented they are , the cohesiveness of their sound the lyrics melodies tempo timing beat inflections and blazing stunningly unique vocals by Josh are what make GVF able to bulldoze through a jaded audience deadened by decades of musical mediocrity and ignite the excitement in people garnishing reactions such as the ones on this blog, to simply say as some have that GVF is reminiscent of Led Zeppelin and that is their appeal is crushingly marginalizing , my God listen to the acoustic version of Black Smoke Rising, Edge of Darkness these are genuinely masterful songwriters singers and musicians. These guys are on fire and I can’t wait to hear what comes next. I still remember how it felt when I got my first Zeppelin, Stones , Floyd LP and so many other monster talents, the only reason I can remember , and I am being completely sincere in saying this , is that after listening to this entire track , for the first time in decades I felt it again I want to have all my friends over and crank this cool new album buy this new band Greta Van Fleet in its unstoppable infancy and we will all play air guitar and get buzzed laugh and not give a fuck about anything because the music is doing the talking and pulled us all out of our heads to let us live in the moment, that's some serious spiritual currency . Peace Everybody,,,,,, Darren.
What we already have: a Zeppelin catalog of awesomeness. What we are now starting to receive: another catalog of (somewhat) similar awesomeness. **I'm not seeing a problem here.**
I really like their sound and that they actually use *instruments* to play music, but I do hope they find their own sound. Their songs are a bit repetitive, but I do think they have potential. Sounding exactly like another band though, that only lasts for so long.
No my friend, this is not innovation, When Led appeared, they brought many good innovations to rock n roll, but this was the past! We don't need to repeat the past, the actual bands need to bring new elements to keep the rock in the top of the music! Greta sounds is great but old, a great kind of classic rock n roll, but they don't have their own DNA.
"Oh my brothers we stand, for the peace of the land, is there meaning; Whaa I've got love in my heart for an army apart, I am bleeding". Love it all, but the lyrics...man...great writing.

@Sir Cartier I'm confused by what this has to do with being a good live act and putting out good music? I obviously don't care about them copying anything because it's enjoyable. If your listening to music based on anything else your gonna be a very sad old person
@Noble Failures soooo you think your uses of time and musical interests are better uses of time than ours?? I'm even more confused by your original comment..
I can't tell you how much I've missed the sound of rock n roll music in the modern music scene. I couldn't care less if they sound like Zeppelin, in fact, it draws me to them even more. For goodness sakes we finally have a real guitar, bass, drums, and a singer who all rock the house without auto-tunes. Great job GVF!
It's really really really good watching a band, a good one, taking the time to perform a song that last four minutes and transform it in a long live version. Not everyone does that nowadays. This group is going places, big time.
Eh. Their second album flopped. And they’ve pretty much dropped off the map this year. But hopefully their third album is really a good one. Cause there first album is good it’s just short.
nobody is mad when hip hop artists carry the torch from the old school and make it their own. these guys are following the canon of rock and roll history, let them innovate
Skipping Stones Right this is Led Zeppelin copied without the power behind it. Don’t get me wrong im stoked to see kids into this style music and would Much rather see this than some lame dubstep DJ. @chris smith You heard of Dovydas? Leans a bit more blues than this, but his talent is incredible. Guitar solos for days- seen him go for 30 minutes in a live show before, just cause he was feeling it. His audience is tiny. He deserves way more recognition than he gets. There's a lot of good modern classic music out there. Just hard to find good stuff when the market is driven by radio pop.
Normally, I just have a respect for the bassist. But this dude carried the beat and took off with it. The entire band was great, but that bass needs more recognition
The Band is awesome. I just dislike a little this drummer. I think he hits the drum a lil bit too hard and the sound doesn't fit too much. I think he's getting better live, maybe on the next record tour, he'll be more mature on their gigs
The bassist is, IMO, the best musician of the band, just like John Paul Jones (sorry for the comparison!). He even plays the fucking Hammond in "Flower Power", like Jones did in "Since I've Been Loving You". I can't imagine myself playing that thing.
Over rated nonsense. Nothing new here. A SHIT LOAD of posturing and attitude. A marketers dream. A 70's Cosplay tribute act. A garage band with a budget.
it's rock. it will always have a bit of zepplin, sabbath, ac/dc and others. based on blues and sung with soul. whoever makes comparisons to led zepplin or calls them posers is a nutjob and doesn't really know how different and TALENTED these guys are - they are professional musicians. no doubt about it. that drummer is in the groove, bass is doing his thing and yet holds the band down all at once, super guitar licks, and solos, singer is off the chain. I don't know anyone else who can compare with Greta Van Fleet right now. They're on their way to becoming legends in their own right. Long live Greta Van Fleet!
Thank you for breathing life into a dying genre of music. It is special that you enabled this 61 year old man to smile, close his eyes, and dream of the happy, classic rock days. My son turned me on to this group. At 63 I still love rock and roll, and these kids deliver!!! Guitar solo? WOW moment. Lead singer? Golden voice. Great band!!!
thats sad. Its just Jimmy Page but way worse. All borrowed from Jimmy Pages improvised live solos. Jimmy Page solos nourish your soul though. They inspire and heal. This just gives me a yuck feeling of inauthenticity fakeness
@@NowhereMan7 100%. This kid lacks serious creativity in his playing. Takes like a 7 minute solo comprised entirely of boring tired "rock n' roll" pentatonic cliches. Zero variation in rhythms or cadence or dynamic. Absolutely uninspired unaware dumbed down attention seeking playing. It's as if he watched one video of Jimmy Page and is doing an awful impression. @@zacharyurbin5508 It's amazing how many GVF diehards use this same exact neanderthal argument. So your excuse to ridicule someone for having a musical opinion that's contrary to yours is "I'd love to see you get on stage and do it better!". So basically in your simian logic, no one is allowed to criticize or express an opinion on any musical material, which is WILDLY subjective by nature, UNLESS you are able to "Do it better than them". How unimaginably ignorant. That has to be one of the dumbest most thoughtless arguments I've ever seen. Relax ape, not everyone is gonna be as absolutely enamored with these watered down, substanceless, unoriginal, Kidz Bop Led Zeppelin songs as you, and that's OK. Geez you're acting like someone's making fun of your mother. I never said I didn't think they're all immensely capable on their respective instruments, I think they are and it's impressive in that right, but do you really truly believe that "this band is nothing like Led Zeppelin"? Haha you're telling me you hear ZERO similarities or valid points of comparisons? Are you aware that GVF used to be a LITERAL Zeppelin cover band? There's scores of videos of them as younger kids playing Zeppelin songs PERFECTLY. If you don't think they sound are try to visually emulate Zeppelin AT ALL, I think your ears are broken. Buy new ones. PS: Oh and yes I can play guitar, perform, sing and write songs much much better than GVF, I've been on countless tours and played rooms of over a thousand. But I certainly can't PROVE that to you so that means my opinion isn't valid right monkey brain?? And I'm not even saying that with pomp and circumstance it's just factual. I have SO much to learn. The fact is, it's just incredibly easy to make music with more Substance than GVF. Sorry.
That can be said about the majority of their songs, from this album I love age of man, brave new world and your the one, they are just really consistent at making good songs for a variety of fans
Alot of their song have this quality of experience. This one just gives it you endless. It's a bit sexual if you will in the way that it gets all over you.

OMG! Where were these guy's when I was going to rock concerts back in the late '70's, '80's & '90's?!!! They say Dynamite comes in small packages! Josh, you are a phenomenal singer! You're the best of everything from Triumph's (band from the '80's!) Lead singers voice,( Lay it on the Line, song)& of course, Robert Plant, & Shades of Steve Marriot, ( Humble Pie). And the more I listen to your voice inflections I'm sure I'll recognize a few other legendary rock singers! And the rest of the band, Omg!!there are not enough words to express the talent of unheard of levels!! It's unprecedented!! You guys made this old chic, get up & rock out like I was 25!!! What planet were you all born on?!!! Totally otherworldly!!! 💗
Ok, when are we going to start talking about this kid as one of the best guitarists around? Hes what? like 22? He has gotten a ton better just in the past few years they have been around, the whole band has. Going to be crazy to see where he's at in another 3-4 years.
I don't think he's one of the best, at least from a technical standpoint. GVF's easily top 5 for me on active music acts, but Jake Kiszka is not a world class technical guitarist. He's rough around the edges, and plays mostly pentatonic licks. That said, Angus Young is my favorite guitarist, and he's the same way. I love Jake's playing, but he does not stack up to Steve Vai, Guthrie Govan, or even Slash when it comes down to skill. Still, he's an incredible riff-writer already, and he's got quite a bit of talent on the axe. I have no doubt he's gonna go far, but he's nowhere close on a technical standpoint to the "greats" just yet. There's nothing wrong with that, either. I personally don't listen to music for technical proficiency; I listen to music that speaks to me or excites me. Angus Young and Jake Kiszka fulfill that need for me. Both of which have also written some of my favorite riffs of the past decade, too, so there's that.
The singer gets an A+ the rest of the band gets C+. The guitarist struggles big time. He’s trying to play out Jimmy page and he will never do that. The band does sound good it’s just the singer is the star in the rest is just his band.. you could find much better musicians, they could play that music 10 times better than his band plays it.
What are you talking about, the whole dog gone band does!!! WOW!!! This is a HUGE breath of fresh air, a shot in the arm, and the most organic & raw rock sound we've heard in a VERY long time. These cats make ANYONE who FEELS & WITNESSES this think how all those stupid, group thinking, wannabe thugs loving their "rap" & "hip hop", and "da club music" ( where it sounds like alvin and the chupmunks are singing in every damned song )..... can take it, light it on fire, and then shove it straight up their clueless asses!!! This band just proved ( as I've always known, because I was a hard-core guitarist/lead & harmony singer/blues harp/stage performer for decades ) that even though "everything has been done before"........that you can STILL take it and put a completely fresh, energetic spin on it, to make it all brand new again. I used to feel really sorry for the youth today who happen to be SMART & CARING ENOUGH to start digging the music we had back in the 60's & 70's.......all those killer bands who made complete albums where about every song stood on its own.......yet they were born too late to witness & live it.......but NOW they ( and we ) have THESE CATS!!! I don't give a rat's ass what anyone says or thinks.......these cats just saved & revived rock & roll to its former glory in grand fashion!!! Ya don't "hear" this music........YOU FEEL IT. And that's something that has been totally lost in mainstream music for a very long time now.
Awesome! Gotta hand it to the guitarist: he must have incredible core strength from essentially doing some form of crunches the whole time he's shredding on guitar. Great performance all around from the band, too.
These are true musicians! Every note, sound, word....whatever.. . Is done, talked about, put together, whatever...perfectly. it sounds and feels good. I enjoy their music! Good feelings..

What they are doing in this song takes a lot of stamina and they didn't miss a beat and are always spot on from the vocals to the drums. WOW! I watched one of their interviews that said when they were first starting out Josh had a hard time being heard through the instruments being played when he would sing so he had to find a way for his voice to just belt out and once he did they knew that was the sound they were looking for. Josh's vocals and Jake's guitar playing, Sam's bass playing & Danny's drumming is definitely some of the best out there right now and they are right up there with the best of the best right now.

@@grushteniak Hell yes man. Lover, Leaver (Taker, Believer) is my favorite song by these guys and that 20 minute beast blows my mind
What we are now starting to receive: another catalog of (somewhat) similar awesomeness.

more in 2019 I mean we only got from the artists autotune shit
I really like their sound and that they actually use *instruments* to play music, but I do hope they find their own sound. Their songs are a bit repetitive, but I do think they have potential. Sounding exactly like another band though, that only lasts for so long.
No my friend, this is not innovation, When Led appeared, they brought many good innovations to rock n roll, but this was the past! We don't need to repeat the past, the actual bands need to bring new elements to keep the rock in the top of the music! Greta sounds is great but old, a great kind of classic rock n roll, but they don't have their own DNA.
Yet they deny it.
"Oh my brothers we stand, for the peace of the land, is there meaning; Whaa I've got love in my heart for an army apart, I am bleeding". Love it all, but the lyrics...man...great writing.

FINALLY!!! A guitar solo longer than 10 seconds. I've missed that a lot in modern music! Awesome!
@@carlosdominguez3108 Thats called "improvisation". So... you wanna tell us that you can do better? Where is your video? Lets go...show us!
@@carlosdominguez3108 Can you give me an example of one with feel and structure?

I was there at this show. The second show of the two dates they did in Toronto. What amazed me the most about the concert was the sound quality. I found it was like studio quality audio. What a night. The most energetic concert to date I’ve been to. These guys will prove to be legends of our era.
Wow. Simply awesome! Every member of this band is incredible.
lez zeppelim cover
Esse menino vendeu a alma pro CAPIROTO. CERTEZA!!!!!
Wow !!! That's good !! You guys really compliment each other don't ever break up. Commitment is key! Love is the answer! I'm in love with you guys. Greta Van Fleet is Extraordinary and Beautiful and Ballsy?! Love it! Don't ever stop? ❤❤❤
Nice to see the aftermath of Frodo finding the ring. He becomes a great musician with a hell of a voice. Great sound these guys have. That Les Paul is alive!!!
i love this comment so much
That's an SG tho
Jonas Stinziano the sg used to be called the les paul in the 60s
Isn't it the solid guitar ??
Love this comment. You are funny sir.
Greta Van Fleet is the nostalgia of modernity. Seeing the bands of my teens die, this is a new breath of life!
This song proves just how important melody, lyrics, a positive vibe & sheer raw LIVE talent are to real R&R.
Can't stop watching this damn video. That lead guitarist is next level. I was worried he would trip over the darn chord. And the drummer? Holy crap. The whole band rocks!
Just "discovered" these guys today and holy shit....
Same
Same here. Can't go a day without listening to an hour of them.
@Dan Bertucci58 here, discovered them last month. Just in time for them to be my new summer jams. The more I listen to them, the less they really sound like LZ.
Harry Jansen I mean the people who think they’re copying zeppelin the boy just has a very similar voice to plant
Welcome to my dream....💜 Them!!! Very TRIPPY❣
I must be normal to love this rock band. Damn! They are so good!
Oh...I am 72 now and listening to my headphone. Heaveeeee stuuuffffssss....
Damn Sonny, I thought I was the "Old Fart" at 61! I couldn't agree more. Heaveeeee Stuuuffffssss!
You'll live longer if you listen more, i think thats the real lesson here pups
long life Rock n' Roll.
I'm 61 n these kids can rock. Peace n love!
I just think its great that a 72 and a 14 year old can enjoy the same music.
Vocês realmente surpreenderam o mundo do rock. Congratulations!!!!.....
Será que o Led Zeppelin/Robert Plant exerceram influências?! Impressionante!
Gonna see these guys in a month. Can’t wait!
That solo can cure cancer
IT DID! I had Lymphoma.. went thru 6 rounds of Chemo... 1x a week and now Thank Sweet Jesus I am in remission !! I had the pelvic bone biopsy and it was benign!! The left side of my neck was an egg sized HUGE lymph node and it DISthe fuckAPPEARED! they are taking it out (i'm NOT sure i want them too but, the ENT Oncologist says it needs to be done?) anyway, I am 50 years and I was so so sick with the Chemo and I couldn't do anything BUT I heard When The Curtain Falls and DUTG it so I sat at my computer and listened to song after song bcuz I didn't get any lyrics BUT "Bye bye Baby.. GOODBYE" and I found it! Been telling EVERYONE about this great new Band and been like a teenie bopper again bcuz thie Band literally gave me SOMETHING to look forward to... I LOVE THEM and GRETA VAN FLEET got me thru Cancer!!

Jake kiszka true legend
No words. Just, it made me feel alive. I'm listening a real guitar, a real drum, a real bass and finally a real voice.
That's called falsetto. This kid is bloody horrible. That's not a real singer.
@@RobertStiles according to who? Fuck off
Robert Stiles rise up the challenge you act like your something someone wants to hear. There’s a lot of people who enjoy his voice!
@@juniorpavon According to anyone who knows anything about singing, which you clearly don't.
@@RobertStiles shut up! They are AMAZING! And he goes into his highest register in this song.. in other songs he sings in his lower register and sounds completely different. But unless you were a true fan and listened to ALL their music... you wouldn't know that. Clearly you don't. Go away with your bullshit. They sell out every concert and I saw them August 2017 front row at a 300 person venue.. now they play to 30,000 people festivals. When a band is invited to play at Woodstock 2019 for 100,000 + people... they must know what the fuck they are doing.. and that includes KNOW HOW TO SING! 🖕
Holy f***! That guitar solo was napalm!!! Rock the hell on!! God damn!!!! 🤘🏻
I think it’s fantastic these guys are keeping rock music alive,im glad they sound like zeppelin as I’m a fan of zeppelin for 35 years, these guys are killing it. Awesome.
