Thank you for your videos. I immediately click when my notification of a new one comes across the screen. I live in Delaware, am retired, and wanted to go to Scotland my entire life. When I married my now husband in 2019 he took me to Scotland for our honeymoon. We spent a month going all across your wonderful country, and it exceeded all my dreams and expectations. We were planning to go back in May, but, sadly, Covid cancelled that. I read the Orkadian on a regular basis, and keep my fingers crossed for the health and welfare of all of you. Your First Minister has done a grand job taking care of all of you. Be safe and you and your wife stay well.
What lovely gifts! Chicago is my favorite city, even though I am only 30 min from St. Louis, lol. Shaun, Thank you for your nice channel ! I Will enjoy your videos , when visiting our country , the USA. I do hope there is something left to do and see that is positive , when you come back . I have traveled a very small amount, and have seen only a little of my own country , due to living on a farm , with all the hands on daily things to do . The election has caused turmoil , but I hope you can have a nice time while you are here. ❤️🇺🇸❤️

I agree shaun, there is always a middle ground and we can all learn something from each other. Please no more negative comments. Lets keep youtube a fun, inspirational, and educational platform.
Shaun, you mentioned Arizona during the video. First off, Gilbert is a Phoenix suburb. Secondly, yes, AZ can be stifling hot, and be warm enough in the southern part of the state to draw "snowbirds" (retirees who head to a warm climate for the winter). However, in the northern end of the state, around Flagstaff, which is near Grand Canyon, it snows. In other words, Arizona is a state with an amazing amount of variety.
I'm getting ready to send a Christmas care package to a Scottish man I adore! I'm sending gifts, tropical treats, and seashells from my hometown beach in Florida, because I want him to know no matter how far away he is from me, we're connected. Thank you for this video! I really enjoyed it and I'm learning more about Scottish culture! :)
Hi Shaun. Me and my family are from the West Midlands and have just been watching your videos and really enjoyed them, I have now subscribed to your channel and will be looking forward to watching more posts from you.
If you're going to see a baseball game next year, Chicago would be a great place to do it. Wrigley Field, where the Cubs play, is the 2nd oldest ballpark in the Major Leagues. They've had renovations but it still retains most of the old-timey charm.
Al Capone fled Chicago to Wisconsin once. He and his group fled to Northern Wisconsin to an inn/bar called Little Bohemia. It is still open to this day. You might have to make a visit to a few states when you can.
When you are able to travel to the States again, you should consider coming to Colorado. We did have two devastating wildfires in the mountains this season but there is still much beauty left in the Rocky Mountains.
Carry on Shaun, and thank you. You are my mini vacation and much needed escape. I look forward to to every post. If you ever come to Boston let me know, I know some really cool places I would like to share with you and your wife.
I share your disappointment in being able to travel. Me and my wife were planning to go back to Scotland. There is so much more we wanted to see. I hope this pandemic lets up so we both can travel. Keep delivering your videos. I look forward to them.
As always, enjoy your videos, brother! My hope is that we as fellow citizens can get beyond the divisiveness and discord and can move forward to better respect our differences and do what is best for all Americans in our respective states and regions facing their personal issues. And that we can remember the words of Abraham Lincoln and history: “We are not enemies, but friends. We must not be enemies. Though passion may have strained, it must not break our bonds of affection. The mystic chords of memory will swell when again touched, as surely they will be, by the better angels of our nature.”

Williams, AZ is also about 40 minutes west of Flagstaff, where they can get 100 inches of snow in a year and at 7000 feet elevation. So while much of AZ is hot, it is also very diverse in climate. They are both also part of the largest stand of Ponderosa Pines in the world. I am on the southeastern part of the forest in the White Mountains about 2.5 hours away. Arizona is beautiful! You should come! Plus Williams has Bearizona!!!!
I didn't realise things were so bad in Scotland that people needed to send them care parcels. Lol. Some great presents there & very usefull things for someone who has just moved into an apartment. Stylish clock, lovely cushion, mug for hot drinks, glass for cold drinks. All these things will help to make the flat more homely. Great tee shirts. How kind people are.
Thank you for your for your kind words about America and it's citizens. Our media would have us believe that we are not "liked" very much by other countries. No one should believe this! I love to travel, and of course I miss it under our current circumstances. I have come to find over a lifetime of international travel that quite the opposite is true. We are open, friendly, kind , generous and enthusiastic people. Sometimes we're misunderstood as well. I have made wonderful and lasting friendships that I cherish. I loved Scotland when I visited a few years ago. I found the Scots to be kind, friendly and a lot of fun! The Irish are as well. Hopefully you'll make it back to the U.S. soon and especially my beautiful city of Washington D.C. and the surrounding areas! You need to visit Pennsylvania, so many people of Scottish ancestry, as I am myself. Best wishes to you!

Huntsville, Alabama here, checking in! Your videos are always great fun to watch. It's fun to see how someone looks at the USA from outside of it. By the way, that's AL Capone on the shirt. He was a famous gangster from back in the Prohibition days. The Thompson machine gun that he and his cohorts used got the nickname of "the Chicago Typewriter" from the stories written in blood by those guns on the Chicago streets by guys like Al Capone. The quote on the shirt, "don't confuse my kindness for weakness," has been attributed to him. We often use that expression still today.
Great to see you open these surprise gift boxes from our American cousins. There's a lot of love and thought right there! I love that handmade star, agree it will look amazing for your background. "How the Scots Invented the Modern World" by Arthur Herman is a wonderful read, it's one of my favourites. 💖
And we love you, too! I have a couple of friends in the UK who, suprisingly also reported they're watching the elections. I'm, like, "poor things!", because, with Covid19 and all, they've been drawn out and wacky. But thanks for your caring message, and the box opening fun. You're such a good guy. Big virtual hug!! 💕💕
Chicago is awesome!!!!! Highly recommend. If you come, do the architecture boat tour. Great way to learn a lot about the city's history in a very entertaining way.

Americans are very divided right now, but those differences in opinions are what creates the perfect “middle ground” that IS America. ❤️🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 Thank you for your love for America and your encouraging words. We’re ready for you to return- so many more states to visit! (Thanks to the person who sent you the book. I’m definitely getting it. Just learned I’m 47% Scottish. I need more history.)
I don't talk politics, even on election years. Good to see you getting some Love. You do grand, all of your channels. I went to sleep eventually last night, in part thanx to you, with sounds from the UK that you posted. We will be united again after the first of the year. New beginning as it is... Cheers from SC, USA!
Wonderful and thoughtful gifts, I really liked the handmade star. I'm glad to hear you like America so much. America was built by people from countries all over this globe and you can find their cultures everywhere you look here. I think that is why American's are so passionate about political or religious topics. We just need to remember that America ""IS"" the middle ground and we don't have to go far to find it. That's why so many people came here to begin with. I love your channel and wish the best for you and yours.
I’m from S. Philly. It was amazing growing up in the 80s/90s. Other than the food, sports, Mummers Parade and historical sites, it’s not what it used to be. If you ever visit, you MUST be on 2 Street in South Philly on New Year’s night. Amazing party! You can look up Mummers Parade performances on TH-cam.
Refreshing as always to see your perspective. Trust that there are a vast majority of Americans who would be happy to welcome you back once we get a handle on the pandemic. I'm sure it has been suggested before, but if you are able to see Kentucky, I'd highly recommend it. It's beautiful country with down-to-earth people who would give you the shirt off their back regardless of whether they agree with you on the hot topics.
@Shaun When you're able to visit Philadelphia, I highly recommend you to check out the Reading Terminal Market for lunch or supper. You can eat there everyday for weeks and not have the same things twice, buy foodstuffs from different cultures, shop for non-food items and you should definitely try out Bassetts Ice Cream!
Thanks for such an uplifting and heartwarming vlog. The gifts that you received were such thoughtful gestures from your subscribers. The handmade wooden flag actually brought tears to my eyes over the time, effort and love that went in to making it. My ancestry is from Scotland on my Dad's side and England on my Mom's side so I guess I am a good U.K. American 🤣. Your remarks were filled with such common sense that I was actually embarrassed to realize how the U.S. is perceived overseas. Ironically, you seem much more optimistic about my country than many of my countrymen. Thanks for your positivity and good humor. ❤🙏🌎

Hi Shaun! Glad to see you, miss seeing your videos. About those attacking you, there will always be haters taking things out on innocent people. Ignore them. They are not worth your time. Take care. :)
The Scottish and Irish immigrants had such a profound on the growth of the United States that many people still identify with their ancestral roots. We are proud and a little humbled that we come from people of strength and vision. Re: How did the Irish and Scots survive prohibition? With alcohol on our breath ;) Our ancestors made and sold liquor to everyone else. My own great-grandfather ran liquor during the prohibition in Detroit, Michigan.
This was actually fun watching you open your packages! I've been to Edinburgh twice prior to the pandemic. It feels like home plus you seem like a genuine nice person. Love the videos.

You're awesome Shaun. Honestly, I appreciate you keep your opinions to yourself and that I don't know which way you lean! You're right, we need to find a middle ground, because each side is extreme... And you know what they say "If you go far enough to the left or the right you end up in the same place".
The conspicuously large pile of bodies on the left would indicate otherwise. Mao. Stalin. Pol Pot. Kim. Hitler. etc... The problem is most assuredly not "both sides."
It would be great to have you visit us in Wisconsin...my wife and I visited Scotland five years ago, and we vowed to come back.we were only there for a short time, and we based out of Edinburgh, but we really enjoyed the time we were there. I’m a descendant of the Wallace Clan!

I'm really looking forward to future videos of you opening things that were sent in by us. :)
Louis, lol. I will say St. Louis has alot of awesome things to see especially the STL Cardinals basaball team in Busch Stadium. Anheiser Bush brewery tours, the Arch, Union Station Aquarium...I could go on. Lol Anyway love your channel and Scotland!
I doubt we will see a winner for some time to come, but you saw 3 total winners there! What awesome people to send you such great stuff! And that star and pillow were beautiful! America looks forward to welcoming you back soon, Shaun!
We need to get you out to the West Coast. I’m a 3rd gen Californian and we have so much to show you! So many people, cultures, food, landscape, and the things we make here for the rest of the country and the world! ❤️
I'm in California too. My mom's family was all from Scotland. And the most sane of my family.
I was born in California but moved at 2 yo. I visit Northern California every year to see the redwoods and canoe. And eat seafood :)
I was born in DC and spent my youth all over the East Coast between seeing visiting Grandparents and family up and down the states. But I came to CA to go to USC and don't want to go back to the 🥶.
Hello, Shaun! I always enjoy watching your videos and I love learning about Scotland through your travels and insight. Whatever you post in the coming weeks, please know how much you are appreciated-your positivity is always a breath of fresh air.
I had my coffee with you as you opened your gifts. Very exciting!
We drove though Chicago to get to northern Canada one time. It is a busy place. Lots of cars and people.
I love seeing and hearing how you appreciate learning about the US.
Thanks Shaun. Middle ground can be found. As always I enjoyed your video. Congratulations on your new apartment n being back in Scotland.
Shaun, This was a great video and I'm happy to see the awesome gifts you received. Peace!
Just found you seeking truth in our History here in America. LOVING your info from both sides of the pond! Love your site.
Yes, we will find the middle ground. At the end of the day, Americans always unite. Ohio is beautiful! Come to see us here!
Blessing to you!
I agree shaun, there is always a middle ground and we can all learn something from each other.
Please no more negative comments. Lets keep youtube a fun, inspirational, and educational platform.
I'm from Pennsylvania, USA. Sending lots of love and blessings to you and your family. Take care.
Tastykake snack cakes are my most favorite since my childhood times. They are from Philadelphia, Pa, USA.
Shaun, I adore you and I thank you for making videos as they truly make me happy. Big hugs and much love from Kansas. 💛
What thoughtful gifts! Looking forward to travel opening back up again. I know how much you love America and we love you and your adventures as well.
Always enjoy your upbeat optimistic personality. Cheers from Michigan!
MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A PHILLY CHEESESTEAK WHEN YOU VISIT PHILLY!!!
Ooooooh!! Tastycakes!!! Enjoy!
MMMM, cheesesteak
@@hiko73 right?!
Also, The Cubs play at Wrigley Field....have you ever seen Ferris Bueller’s Day Off?! Hilarious 🤣 🤣🤣
It’s beautiful. I’m in Wyoming and we have beautiful country...but not that much else 😂
I suggested CO also, since that is where I currently live. I think he needs to go to the top of Pikes Peak.
I lived in Colorado for several years and absolutely loved it. If it wasn't for family, I would still live there.
If there's anyone who understands healing divides in the US it's Abraham Lincoln!
For those who didn't watch all the way through, I start talking about the election at 12:55 - and just to add: ‘decides’ is not a misleading statement. Regardless of whether the process still has a way to go, decides still means the process is underway. ‘Decided’ would be a conclusive statement. Understand your English before attacking me. To find out more about my plans for exploring more about my interest in the US, I'd value your thoughts on this > bit.ly/3p8yLnA
Well... now that the election is over covid hysteria seems to magically be over, too.
I love to watch you open boxes from your subscribers. I hope you and your wife are doing well during lockdown.
Thanks Shaun for sharing your time with us. Yes , the sweets are Philly famous and the Goldberg peanut chews ( prob still in the box). When you do get back to US, we’d be honored to host you and Teka. Phillies baseball, cheesesteaks ( absolutely)Eagles football, depending on when you come, Rocky statue and Art Museum steps and so much more. It’d be a blast,;small return for keeping me entertained throughout lockdown with your Scotland adventures. Love it🥰
Shaun. Look up Al Capone on Google to see who's picture you have on that Chicago shirt...lol. Don't pay any attention to the arguing. We seem to do that. Love from Alabama! USA
You mean Al Capone.
@@adria89 yes
Yeah, we do argue a lot don't we? I was just in Huntsville, BTW. Alabama is a nice state! Always enjoy visiting.
@@dats3 Glad you were visiting. I live in the central part of the state
@@dats3 I was year #2 of Space Camp in Huntsville! Tried for year one but they had age requirements boo! Would have been way cooler to have been in the first right :)
Nice Job Audra! Williams is a teeny little gas station town - a favorite stop for many of us traveling I-40.
Shaun, you and Tecca stay safe and healthy! We want to see you back in the US of A!
2/3 of Arizona is forested. Has a huge impact crater, the Grand Cranyon, and an almost 10, 000 foot mountain.
did you just call the Grand Canyon an impact crater?? It was created by erosion!
@@angeliaparish No, I was referring to Sunset crater which is also in Arizona. Correction: its Meteor Crater, Sunset Crater is a volcano also in Arizona Both are between Flagstaff & Winslow.
@@MrBigPicture835 ah good deal
I really enjoyed this video, Shaun!
I hope things are better soon so you can see more of the U.S.
Love from across the pond. Love your videos on my ancestorial homeland!
Thank you for your Love!
Hi Shaun I have that book and it very interesting to see how much in the States was started by Scottish people. Loved reading.
Hey Shaun! I live in an hour away from Philly. Tastykakes are a local favorite! We have lots of regional dishes you must try when you visit. Long time subscriber.
I am in Ardmore, Pennsylvania! Love our Tasty cakes!!!! All sugar and chemicals. Yummy!!!!
@@donnabittner69 I'm in Berks County. Home of Shoo Fly Pie.
Americans are very divided right now, but those differences in opinions are what creates the perfect “middle ground” that IS America. ❤️🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Thank you for your love for America and your encouraging words.
Thank you for sharing! I can’t wait to come back to Scotland as well. Yes there is always a middle ground. Most people are good people.
That book is a very good book! Very enlightening.
My great gram came over here in 1869 from Sorn. God willing I'll be back in Sorn next year for a visit!
It will be so great to travel again... Until then stay safe. Blessings be with you and Teka from Arizona. 🏜
Great stuff, Shaun. Stay positive, as always, we will eventually all get through these rough times. ;)
I enjoyed this video Shaun, thank you for the well wishes. Stay safe and here's hoping this lockdown isn't too stressful for you two, at least you are in your own lovely home now, I'm so happy for you. Your gifts were amazing, what kind folks to send such beautiful gifts. Hope you enjoy them. Hello to your lovely bride as well.xx
The mafia T-shirt? is Al Capone 🤣
Good gifts, from lovely people 💚
congrats Shaun 😊
- love from Denmark 🌸💕
Hi Shaun, how awesome to receive great things from America. There is plenty of kind people still around! I found out through AncestryDNA that I have Scottish in me. I was over the moon excited. So, now I’ve put it on my bucket list to visit. Come to Rochester New York and get a garbage plate for dinner 🙃
I’m 1/2 Scottish (1/4) Shetland, maternal grandfather, (1/4) Orkney, maternal grandmother !!!
My grandfather was the comptroller (holder of the purse) & was responsible for keeping Carson Pirie Scott & Company open without losing any workers by cutting money from the top to have enough money for the bottom his name, John Clark !!!
His father was a fisherman north of Lerwick whose boat was capsized by a whale when John was just two years old !!!
The rest of the family immigrated to Chicago & I live in the city’s southwest suburb & it would be nice to show both of you where the store stands even though another store occupies it now !!!
I along with my family plan to visit Scotland a few years from now !!!
Hey Shaun! I Hope all is well for you in this crazy year that we are living in. We look forward to the next time you visit us in the States (hopefully Michigan lol). Keep up the great content and keep being you, you're awesome!
You get a lot of goodies in the mail. Are you planning on doing a taste test of some of the things from other countries? I think that would be so much fun to watch! Hope you and the Mrs. are doing OK on lockdown.
If you search his videos he has done a taste test video in the past with his sister. It was a lot of fun.
Shaun, you and your channel are an absolute gem, and I really, really want to meet you and Teka when you come to Chicago, or if our paths can cross in my hometown of Detroit - I'd love to show you around! Anyone who would unsub from you over the title of this video is someone who you are better without. Take care and stay safe over there!
Thanks brother, see you in Chicago 👍🇺🇸
Checking in from Houston Texas. I hope you are doing well in the latest lock down in Scotland.
Shaun, as usual you have posted another great video. The handmade star is beautiful ! I truly hope that you are able to travel back to the states next year, and I certainly hope that you put New England on your list of places to visit. It would be my honor to take you on a tour. Thank you again my friend and stay well.
You should do a mini series where you record all the Celtic and Scottish ruins and tell us the history and lore behind them , that would be awesome !
Such lovely thoughtful gifts! I am so glad you shared opening them with us. nice video. B)
Wow! Some really nice stuff for your flat. I am new to your channel and have yet to watch your videos that show your visits to the USA. I live in Edinburgh also. 🙂👍🏼
Lovely gifts from the USA! So nice.
