I learned driving behavior as a car driver. It was eye opening watching people react to videos like this to realize not everybody did this on the road.
I’ve just bought a v star 650 custom today and the smile on my face isn’t coming off but I will thank you for all the tips and strategies I’ve never thought of be seeing you on the road
I had the same feeling when I jumped on my rmz450… started first kick.. clean bike.. 😃sold…. Then I took it out for a ride… 😬 Motherfuker wants to kill me.. I thought my rm250 was lairy when you hit the top end.. This has so much torque bottom end I dont even think I’ve gone or needed to go more than half throttle 😂
I think it's okay to be bothered by an interaction like that (trauma dump lady). You gotta feel what you gotta feel. Instead, it's more about not letting that emotion dictate your actions. So, you can sit there and think in your head "fuck this lady, leave me alone, I didn't ask" but rather than projecting those thoughts, you nod along and agree until she leaves you alone. Which can be a purely selfish decision. Clapping back could start an argument or altercation, which is a much bigger hassle than an unsolicited lecture. After the interaction is over you should let those feelings out in any non-destructive matter you see fit. Even if that means pulling over to calm down. Trying to swallow your feelings is not only unhealthy, but will also effect your ride and potentially put yourself in danger
I always put myself in a driver's/riders awareness situation. From what I learned so far, if it looks like they're going to do something (merge 3 lanes over without a blinker, cut in front of you turning left etc.) 9 times out of 10 they do it.... If there's an opportunity for them to do it, they almost always do. Even riding my mountain bike I always have 2 fingers on both brakes... I'm 60 and have never been in a bicycle accident. I average between 600-800 miles every summer. Moving to a motorcycle, there's still a lot for me to decide. Size, CC, trike.... What should be my first bike?? 5'10" 180lbs... What's y'all's recommendation??
Contrecoup is a term I haven't heard in quite a long time. I worked in a trauma center doing CT for almost 8 years and saw a few of those injuries, but now have been in a cancer center for the past 18 years. Not a lot of contrecoups in cancer. Lots of other sadness though!
I always try to get out of blind spots either speed past em or slow down because you know nobody these days does a thing called a "head check" before switching lanes.
12:08 Beginner here but I saw that the guy at the mentioned timestamp used the front break as he was already in the curve. I believe he fell because he used too much of it but could be wrong since I'm still inexperienced
starting to get a bit tired of seeing those group rides wehe people act stupid. When i ride with buddies we all want to get home safe or i dont ride with them. Always keep the shiny side up!
OK, the one at 4:40 where the dark car merges over on the bike is just maddening ...you could see it coming the whole way and all the bike had to do was brake a bit!
Plus, the motorcycle was right next to a bus. The car driver may have looked, but the (giant) bus is what registered in their brain and not the (tiny) motorcycle next to it.
Hey Dan I've got a question about protecting the family jewels. You mention open book fractures a lot and it got me thinking- Would wearing a Cup prevent much of that type of injury? If so, I think I could get used to wearing one because the thought of that happening terrifies me lol. Just found the channel a couple days ago while I wait for my new first bike (Rebel 300) to come in. Thanks for all of this. Really making me feel comfortable with noticing things I already look for while driving my car.
When I bought my S1000XR, it came with a retaining ring on the gas tank for a bag, but the sharp parts were in the perfectly wrong place, and would have probably removed my testicle in a head on crash. The first thing I did was remove the ring.
The lady who had a cousin who died, maybe she seen it happen and didn't want her or anyone else to see another person die. I've seen enough death in the military and I can see her POV. Imagine what his death would do to his family. Give her the benefit of the doubt and know that she cares... No do overs in life. When you're dead you're dead...
That motorcyclist at 7:08 is probably fortunate that they didn't swerve better and crashed where they did. Going down between the two cars is better than going down right in front of that Honda.
at 0:46, white pickup driver may not have seen biker due to line of sight issues. Biker can improve line of sight perhaps? Not a criticism just an observation.
5:43 this is why I don't get why people think we should be moving faster than traffic... yeah, I guess you can be "pro-active" but you are also going to be running up behind literally every car on the road and if you are running up behind every car on the road, you will be hitting every blind, apathetic, distracted driver on the road as well... find a pocket, sit in it, know who is around you and just watch them.
I didn’t agree with your thoughts about the lady. It felt a little bit childish, “it’s my life and I can do what I want.” Lady wasn’t being disrespectful but came from a place of passion as a family member who went through it. But it’s, okay, I can appreciate your experience when it comes to safety, but I can discount your opinions when it comes to compassion, humility, and respect. Win win!
Dan dan! I appreciate your vids! Going to buy my first motorcycle next week. Im getting the ducati v4 i know it’s not the smartest choice but i know i can handle it! Your videos are preparing me for everything that might happen, been binge watching you for a week lol
Update! No longer buying the v4 street fighter everyone sacred me off and talked me out of buying it, so i bought a 2024 zx6r! Hopefully one day ill buy the v4 tho
4:10 that car has a blind spot sensor you can see it going on in the mirror. The driver did not double check. I agree on reducing the speed some people are dum dum
I would tell that lady im doing because your cousin cant anymore and hes smiling looking down at me because at least he died having fun in a world where were just a bunch of monotonous drones that wake up go to work and sleep
15:52 Yep, let's shut down an entire bridge to film a dumbass proposal for a marriage that, let's be real here, won't make it to two years and then wonder why everyone hates bikers.
I didn't need any more examples why I ride alone but they're always welcome.
You and me both brother. I've stopped group rides a long time ago.

8:24 if you look close, you can see smoke on the right side of the screen from the car off screen slamming their brakes
Not a real speed merricka!!! Love it!!!
Thx Mr Safety.

Dude, Dan, you ok bro? Seemed a bit out of sorts this vid. Hope all is ok!
Lol he seemed so over all of these mistakes today.

What is the point of blurrying the accidents? Isn't it allowed to show it on youtube?
Motostars blurrs it. Probably for monetization purposes
13:40 If we see the few mins before this moment we might view her response differently.
Can I tell you one thing? NO! (Rev Bomb)

ok
why zou never suggest honking ?
Brakes and escapes are better than honking.
You can see what good honking did on the one with the Prius and bus... the time is better spent on focussing on the braking instead.
Squids will be Squids
lol that last one was obvious and u still wanted to skip it LOL
Grabbing a pizza 🍕😁
