10 Food Items that Deteriorate Kidney Health
Milk: Milk is one of the most wholesome foods available, however, a high amount of phosphorous, calcium, and various other such nutrients can be harmful to renal health. Excessive milk consumption can also lead to kidney stones.
Peanut butter: Peanut butter is rich in phosphorous that is harmful to our kidney health; please consume it in moderation.
Apricot: Apricot is rich in nutrients such as vitamins A, C, and copper, however, a high concentration of potassium in it makes it an unhealthy choice for kidney patients.
Tomatoes: Tomatoes are nutrient-rich veggies, though, they also contain a high amount of potassium. If you are a renal patient, consume them in extreme moderation.
Pickles: Pickles are loaded with a huge amount of sodium which makes them an unwise choice for renal patients.
Oranges: Oranges are loaded with potassium, a compound that negatively impacts our renal health. You can go for apple or cranberry juice if you are a renal patient.
Potatoes: Potatoes are rich sources of potassium, which makes them an unhealthy choice for renal patients. If you still want to include potatoes, soak them in water for at least 15-20 minutes and boil them.
Chocolates: Chocolates are rich in caffeine and fats and they are particularly harmful for CKD patients.
Canned Soups: They are rich in sodium and proteins. Additionally, they also have a high amount of potassium in them. Consume only freshly prepared soups.
Red meat: Red meat is quite high in protein; a high amount of protein puts a lot of pressure on your kidneys.
