The EIC and Child Care Credit have each been touted as alleviating poverty to a greater extent than other "resource-based" programs such as case managers and employment coaches. Why? I'd say that because they don't have an expiry date like the government debt that supports them. It really doesn't matter to me since I'm in a 'donut hole' demographic, i.e. aged out of productivity and unfit to act in any other way but my age.
About an hour in, I wonder why no one talks about shrinkflation, or the old incremental cost of commodity price inflation. Who addresses that? Does the FDA publish a new revised food pyramid with smaller portions?
