Do you own or have you bought The Cat Dancer before? It’s amazing how a 40 year old design still holds up today! We hope you all enjoyed the video. Let us know what toy you’d like us to test next! 🙀❤
I love your channel! Super helpful info regarding toys as first-time cat parent😂 I'm not sure if you have done a video about the catit senses super roller circuit. I'm wondering if it will be worth buying it for my cat Smokie, who doesn't seem to like many toys. The only toy he loves are plastic springs and I was also wondering if there is any other toys that you could recommend that are some what similar to plastic springs?
Ooo, not yet but it's something we need to do a video on. When our cats were kittens they'd play with it but kittens play with anything... The 2 unique parts of the toy are the 'game' element and the 'support' element for other toys, like the Catit Tower feeders. Game element: Outside of being kittens none of our 4 cats spent time with the circuit and given the size, unless you're willing to take it apart every time, it's quite difficult to rotate away (referencing our 'why cats get bored of toys' video). Supporting other toys: It DOES support other Catit feeders nicely, making them much more stable. Plus, aesthetically, it looks kinda cool. However there are problems. The kibble tends to fall out of the feeder and go in 1 of 3 places; 1. Directly in the puzzle feeder tray (awesome) 2. Into the circuit, which our cats seem to enjoy fishing out from (kinda awesome) 3. Stuck between the edge of the circuit and the feeder. It happens a lot and is very difficult / impossible for your cat to get out, which creates ANOTHER clean up point for you. (sucks) All in all, this seems to be more aesthetically pleasing and useful as a support element for other Catit toys, then something that will entertain your cats. But look, each cat is unique so it might work I suspect though that it's not as useful. On the other toys side, have you tried the finger traps / cat plastic tubes? These seem to have the same unexpected nature that the springs have. Outside of these, Ping Pong balls could also be an option but if your cat is afraid of loud sounds it might take some time to get used to it. And if all else fails... get another cat... lol (be aware it's much more effort than having 1 though, it's like 4x the effort) haha! Let me know how you get on and congrats on being a cat parent! :)
We had one a few years ago. It was a hit with 1 of our cats but not the other. It was a bit flimsy, but like you say don't just leave it out for your cats all the time, put it away after you've done that play session. I personally think the springs are better, but I can see the appeal. I've saved enough bottle tops to try the treats floating in a bowl of water in little 'boats' . All 3 loved it! Will do it again with a bigger bowl or tray. 👍
Interesting 🤔. When we filmed this, all the shots were with the year old one but before we finished the video, we realised we didn’t have the original packaging, so we bought another (not joking, just for the first 2 seconds on the video… 🫠). Strangely we found that the new one seemed much more bouncy compared to the old one. To be fair, that might be because of us shutting it in doors and doing non recommended things with it lol… but still. Your flimsy comment makes we wonder whether there’s something in the metal becoming less effective over time (or something more scientific haha)! 😂 Ooo, that’s awesome!!! Sorry for the mess it likely caused you but really glad it kept them amused, that’s so cool! Yeah, honestly springs are so good. Although I dunno about you but I need to find something to stop these being stuck under the sofa lol 😂 Thank you for your support 😻
Well gee, that thing is a simple DIY a piece of wire and some cardboard, who needs to ship and buy, and I can see the cats perspective. Kind of resembles a small mammal and the wire makes the movement look more fluid so I'm thinking that not only is the simplicity of the toy one of the reasons its popular its so damn cheap you can make them almost free yourself, and you will actually have a different toy every different wire, seems to me its the movement so if the movement deviates and it would, why its probably one of the toys cats don't get as easily bored with. A cat can detect the subtle variences we can't, although I am not a cat it occurs to me as I play with a piece of jewlery wire I just folded a few pieces of cardboard on and fed through that the interest in my DIY is that its not only new it changes how it moves depending on how I hold it...right now I'm typing and sitting on the wire with cats batting at it from all sides, I'm gonna be sorry for making this comment I'm sure of it!
Nice to find such simple and easy toys. I didn't cover it in the video but in their pro version of the toy (I think it's called anyway), they give large numbers of those toys for free to cat shelters. It's nice to see a company go beyond the £££ and give something back. Given the cat sanctuary you run, I'd imagine that's the sort of thing you love to hear about :) Yeah, the wire is quite difficult to see so maybe that helps? Like maybe they think it's a super large fly! haha if you come up with any cool combinations let us know. Maybe we can add them in a follow DIY video in the distant future! :) Thank you for your support as ever. A&K
