Currently re doing a bathroom in my So Cal restaurant.
Nice clear explanations, I love the visuals.
And you give the necessary jargon to dive deeper on certain subjects.
    Thank you!

Hi, I like your videos they are easy to follow and very informative! Could you help us clarify the newest California ADA public restroom vanity max & minimum center reach to the faucet.

One thing I always run into with toilet rooms is the entry door maneuvering clearance overlapping the swing of a stall door. I've never been sure if that is compliant or not. We usually say it is, but I've never been totally sure about this

Thank you for your kind words. We will keep your suggestion in mind. To be completely transparent, the current goal for the future is to focus on IBC. Nevertheless, when specific states are considered again, we will keep you in mind. Thank you for watching and leaving a comment. It is much appreciated!

Thank you so much for the great video. The max toe clearance for a sink is 6". What does it mean? Does it mean that we can not have any space beyond 6" toe clearance? Please clarify
FIGURE 11B-306.2-a - TOE CLEARANCE- in the LADBS Bulletin No P/BC 2020-087.

Hi archicorner, I'm really enjoying your videos! That said, you may want to have another look at 2019 CBC 11B-604.8.1.4. While toe clearance is required for the side partition in accessible water closet compartments less than 66 inches wide, I do not believe there is any such requirement for the front partition.

Sir If it's possible, I'd like you to make a video showing change an occupancy from, "M" to "A" or anything similar to trigger the seismic and what is the procedure.

I deal with Hollow Metal & Solid Wood Commercial Fire Doors & The Door Openings in Common Areas have lots of Fire Life Safety, ADA Accessibility, Safe Egress & Security.
Codes like To Exit a building, "Only one action and no special knowledge", "This Door Must Remain Unlocked During Business Hours", "Door Must Self Close & Self Latch"
The last 10" at the bottom of a door Must Be Flush & Smooth 10" up & the width of the door with No Glass.
Who Knew that a Toilet Paper Dispenser had codes?
"Dispenser Cannot Control Delivery & Must Allow Continuous Paper Flow"
    Thank God for that Code......

For a person with limited use of their hands, one hand, missing fingers, etc. restricting the toilet tissue dispenser rotation might leave them in a difficult spot.

Hi! Thank you so much for this video. Just one question: if there's a built-in counter under the sink like you suggested regarding the pipe insulation, then it wouldn't meet the knee and toe clearances, right?

If you look at some high-end office buildings, the underneath portion of the lavatory is covered with wood panels (with millwork). This is a sort of cabinetry, but not the kind of regular "cabinets" you normally see. The cabinet would be more like a cover.

Loved the video very much. Definitely will watch all and will subscribe for more. I wonder if there is a way to get PDFs or hard copies of the sketches?

Thank you! Thoughts have bounced back and forth about having a website that has the PDFs. However time is just too tight right now. Hopefully in the future this can be a perk in a website. Thank you for asking. Have a great day.

Does the 30x48 inch approch have a max height clearance? Can a 9 1/2" paper towel holder be installed at 40" that protrudes into the approach space?

Per CBC, five percent of the combination of toilet compartments and urinals, but no fewer than one toilet
compartment shall comply with ADA requirements. If there are 2 toilet compartments and 2 urinals in a men's restroom, do we need 1ADA stall, or do we need 1 ADA stall and 1 ADA urinal?

And on Fire Doors you must use mounting tape for signage not screws............FYI

For Ambulatory compartment, don't you need a sign for it?

    • @archicorner

Not that I am aware of. At least not in California. Is there a code where you live that requires one? I would be interested in knowing.

you don't required ISA on the door sign?

    • @archicorner
      @archicorner  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

There are different scenarios, and each scenario may be treated differently. In general terms, and assuming restrooms are NEW, and ALL restrooms are accessible, ISA signs are not required. Assuming restrooms are EXISTING and not all restrooms are accessible, those that ARE accessible need an ISA sign.
As a side note, door mounted signs in restrooms are not called out in the 2010 ADA standards. However, some state or local codes may require them. Each jurisdiction is different. Some states, like California for example, require a triangle sign for mens and a circular sign for womens restrooms.
Restrooms can get tricky pretty quick. When in doubt, hire a local architect who knows the ins and outs of your local jurisdiction(s).

The accessibility of California is almost the same as ABA and ADA!

You are correct, they are very similar. It's funny how some small differences can make a big difference though! Thank you for your comment and for watching this video.
