I definitely wasn't as engaged reading this book as I was reading the main series, but the level of detail Martin fills his world with is so admirable, he clearly has so much stuff he wants to do in his head and a real passion for his story. I feel like at the moment he simply struggles on how to put those exact feelings and ideas into the page accurately, specially for that mammoth task of writing Winds and how high the expecations he has to meet are.
We are never getting a dream for spring but enough is written about winds to be published as a semi finished work even if grrm dies. Tbh more than spring I won't more dunk and egg novellas
My problem with "Fire and Blood" is that many passages were more or less copy pasted from his other companion book "The World of Ice and Fire". I know its more detailed, but reading the first chapter already put me off, because it more exactly the same as the Aegons Conquest passage from TWOIAF
Something kind of interesting about what you said at 12:05. He originally planned to release this after winds of winter, and he only had the stuff for it done that came from a world of ice and fire and the outlines from the main series. He mentioned his plan to finish this after winds, but his publishers wanted him to release it beforehand to get another novel for the series out as they waited for winds.
IMO second half includes tragedy of summerhall which i dont think could have been covered in this book so i get why this is only the first half. There are still alot of imp stuff left so its impossible to have all that in this one books in this writing style
I wouldn't mind you doing more of these book reviews. I know you've done a few already outside of this. XD I love your skits as much as the next guy, but... book reviews are just fun for me to listen to.
I agree this book is for established fans. It's beautifully illustrated, although all the females somehow look the same, Instagram style with heavy eye makeup. The pictures of the places are fantastic.
I didn't like it at all and I stopped reading it somewhere at half. It's just too many characters changing very fast and while book can be great it's pain to read. I'm Stephen King fan and he usually have ton of characters in his books and I like it but this is next level and not so nicely done by George R.R. Martin.
to be honest....i had to quit reading this book after 200 pages. Found it to be a very boring and dry read. Not entertaining at all. But: I had no idea about the historic-style and expected something completely different.
I really think you should read this book at least up to the dance at least because almost third of it is a setup to the war and when it starts it’s feels really worth it I think it is the best conflict GRRM ever written
This review was casual to a fault. Didn't really cover much of the book content. Didn't really communicate how long you spent reading or reaction/feelings toward certain events of the many stories in the book. He didn't really talk about the main series or what we all wanted to hear him rant about. I'd give this video a 9/10. Good job buddy 👍🏻
People just like to complain too much. The last season of GoT was great, I only have a little issue with who got the throne, but I totally understand why they did it. Just like in real life, sometimes things don't end up the way you like it

I agree completely with everything you said. :)
We’re never getting Winds of Winter, are we?
:(
I still think he will write the Winds of Winter but I would be shocked if he finishes the series.

"We aren't gonna make it, are we? ASOIAF fans, I mean."
No
I appreciate this review quite a bit, especially the multiple verdicts at the end, depending on your interest in the main series' material.
Thank you!

Great review! Your voice is very relaxing, haha. Would love to hear you read this book or any of the other ones in the series that you like. 😊
Thank you! :)

@@miketravelsnowhere6557 Yay! :D
Fun fact: apparantly Georgie only wrote this so his publishers wouldnt find him and then r@p€ him in the middle of the night
there are two fire and blood books, im confused which one is part 1

Why was it that you had a pan readily available on your couch?
Books better than the show imo and it covers more. House of the dragon show I mean.

Yes, that and a lot of changing characters made me stop the book and I have read just half of it.

Why would he talk about the main series in a review of a book that’s not in the main series

I don't respect your opinion and you're delusional. It was trash.
cool video bro
Wait you said the show ended spectacularly and with no problems? Huh?
