Damn Trump played these matches so excellently, gotta applaud the man. Displayed an excellent handle of the decision-making to maintain dominance. Only a few minor misplays.

That 4 mana 8/8 dragon that sets both players mana crystals to 10 is a really good card if you know when to play it.

I know you are all about the tempo but have you tried priest/warlock? I've always loved this combo in duel class you just have to build a control deck. The deck I have right now is neigh unbeatable.

Supreme Abyssal is actually pretty good at killing all the 4/10s and 4/12s and 1/8s and 5/7s that everyone loves to pick

In the double vilefiend game, why didn't trump play his own vilefiend + broomstick?
That deals with way more of the opponents board than the rager did.
I'm not sure that it is objectively better. You can't just play to not lose or you will just lose slower, and the fact the game ended so close is a great sign for that.
He needed the Vilefiend so that when he got ahead he would have a way to assert board dominance. It's not always about what is going fo defend you best - always keep your eyes on the actual victory-oriented play, and gauge how much you are willing to sacrifice to defend yourself since this deck could not win by turtling. Very variable decision-making, but I would say he made the right play.
He didn't lose by two damage after all. Decision-making is not cut and dry and this game, or any card game, because strategy isn't just about value, and value is not one dimensional.

Because he lost board control so utterly and has no way of recovering with his deck. That was 100% a loss no matter which way you swing it, even if the opponent seriously misplayed. Supreme Abyssal doesn't need to go face to secure absolute board dominance, which is the core of victory in arena.
Normally I am an advocate for not conceding, but sometimes it is so clear cut a 5 year old could beat you.

The priest match at 1:01:00 was certainly carried by crocolisk. If he had lost that game, which he would have likely done without croco, he would have lost the arena there and then.
There were several other matches where it was instrumental, I'm just not sure you're good at how to gauge the value that a 2 drop has.

finally started my free run last night got priest first then rouge lost 2 of my first 3 games opponents decks were drastically better than mine. this is why I don't play arena mtg drafts are much more strategic and fun
I feel like people who pay a lot of money get better picks and better rng. That's the reason why i quit this game but i still watch trump cuz its trump.

Is it just me, or would you guys rather go 2nd in arena, too? An extra card is so huge, and coin is so good too, but together, I think its way better than going first.
I feel like they could take away either the extra card or the coin and itd be more even.
Depends on the meta. This meta is heavy tempo and aggro based, the last meta was very value orientated. This meta I'd wanna go first, last meta, second.
@@Aeivious That's BS. The meta is still value/"generated by". Literally skipped until 4 Mana at 11 wins and still won against a tempo deck.
Generally speaking better you get more you want to go 2-nd. Also slower the meta more you want to go 2-nd but that is lesser factor in my opinion. Most players has much bigger WR going first and weaker player more noticeable is the difference. Once you hit infinity it's getting leveled and after achieving 7.5+ avg. you get better WR going 2-nd. So it's very individual case however huge majority of players score better if they start.
@@somerandomgamer8504 I agree, the meta is value the higher up you go in wins...Tempo decks have a hard time getting above 3-5 wins just because you cant always outtempo them, your opponent will get a good draw sooner or later and match your tempo
Ive noticed that unless I draft a 75+ power level deck, its very hard to get more than 3 to 5 wins, and you only get offered a 75+ heartharena deck maybe 1 in 3 or 1 in 4 arenas, so youre pretty much screwed in areana 2/3rd of the time and only playing every 1 out of every 3rd deck for real to get to 10-12 wins.
It was never like this in arena before I felt where the quality of your cards is so important
