WJRT-TV 12 in Flint had a version of this as well.
"Hello Michigan, Hello Mid-Michigan... TV 12's caring for you..."
I don't think any station in Detroit ever used it though. Their loss.

I was driving home from a visit to my hometown in west Michigan when that This American Life episode came on the, and it brought back such strong memories that I had to pull my car over and call my dad to talk about it :P !

I was watching old commercials from Milwaukee and heard a variant of this song (circa 1977). It sounded familiar and I realized that the local (Memphis) CBS affiliate used it in the early 80s. Wonder how many different versions there are out there?
