That is a really good review. I love your time lapse camera. Thanks for posting this good information.
Thanks Skill Builder, glad you enjoyed it!
This is a fantastic saw. I have had mine for almost a year and although I would have loved it in brushless, I bought it mainly because the blade is on the right hand side, like a corded saw. And it felt balanced. The best part is I can rip 90x45 pine with ease! The 18v saws always have trouble with ripping.
Great review, Thanks.
Only little criticism is the saw base is die-cast magnesium, not aluminium.
Hi James, I just picked this saw up as part of a three tool purchase, that then included two 4.0 batteries a fast charger and canvas bag. Can't wait to try it out on some unsuspecting timber. Lol. Thanks for your review.
+J Glassey (Glasseyi) Quality saw mate, you will be impressed!
Hi, DHS 710 or DHS 680?
Nice video James, thanks for sharing!
Monster saw mate, do you reckon If I put a blade for metal cutting would it perform well? How about using those new 6.0Ah batteries with it ?
Is it too heavy?
Cheers mate
Greetings from Brazil 🇧🇷✌
Benny
+Ben B Jr Hey Benny 🤙 It would chew through it no worries at all mate 💪 The size might be overkill though, maybe a smaller/ lighter saw would be better for on the roof as this one is a little heavy.
Our Build James 🙌 I asked cause overkill is needed lol...let me clarify this, I need a cordless saw which could cut as deep as possible. Meant for insulated roofing panels and not corro or single sheets which a smaller saw would handle it.
Makita has a metal saw, which by the way is FANTASTIC, however it doesn't have that depth I need.
Thanks for your reply mate, be safe! 👊👊👊
Is brushless or brushed
Great video, much appreciated
I own this saw but I'm not a fan. I find it stops way too easy and chews through the batteries. Maybe mine is a one off dud but I doubt it. Would be much better if it was brushless in my opinion. I've ordered the newer worm drive style from the US as not sold in Australia. I'm hoping it will work a bit harder.
Nice, let me know what you think of the worm drive, I've never used one.
@@OurBuild Looking at this saw and also the Makita worm drive.Just wondering if you had a chance to look at the worm drive as yet?
Makita needs convert this saw with Brushless technology: more power and runtime.
I think it's on the way mate.
Is that job in Annandale?
Sure is 👍
I went to street view and found it, Nelson st. I painted a place not many door from there. I see you have moved north now so no point keeping an eye open for you. All the best.
@@sydneyshinshi Good eye! Yeah we sold it a few years back, just purchased a block up here in QLD, so new build to start again soon. Watch this space 😁 Take care mate!
can you use it with just 1 x 18v battery if everything else is flat?
Great question, I actually didn't try it :) I will have to come back to you on that one.
Nope not possible. 2 batteries needed :)
dominic van lievenoogen Thanks for letting us know Dom, have you been using one yourself?
Our Build Not using it in the field but I have given the tool some serious testing :d I work in an hardware store in Belgium and Makita's our main brand we sell :)
dominic van lievenoogen Awesome, that sounds like my kind of toy shop!!
some things he says are wrong, most notably;
1. a lithium-ion battery won't slowly loose power, it will just cut out. therefore you won't feel the tool drop in power
2. the shoe or 'plate' is not aluminium its magnesium
Thanks for your comments Baxter.
I disagree with you on the tool slowly losing power baxter. My Makita tools will slow down as the battery drains. My Milwaukee will go full until the battery dies completely. I'm not sure what kind of Makita you have but in my opinion "Our Build" is 100% right.
I'm not sure about 100% right. The shoe plate is still magnesium and not aluminium.
Dale Pearcey , Thanks mate! They do infact slow down before cutting out, but i did stuff up on the base plate, it is magnesium. Cheers.
baxter ferrier , Thanks for the comment, yep its magnesium, my mistake...
