Layout of the house looks amazing, but some things are still hilarious to see as a European. Getting excited over a single steel beam, over Chinese aluminium (presumably) windows just because they’re double glazed when it’s a legal requirement for us here, and seeing ducted HVAC when in a house like that it’s a lot more efficient to use VRV and only have thin coolant pipes going around the house. Not dissing, you have some great ideas, it’s just weird to see how the US builds houses like they’re 1980’s Europe.. I’m waiting for the asbestos insulation 😀😀
triple glazed windows are now cheaper where I live, and will become the new standard ! Most homes have it now. And seeing that the house is only wood framed, not concrete or brick, is just mind blowing. We do have wooden houses, but most of them have some sort of concrete walls, not talking about Norwegian cabins and such.
In my European apartment I've got wood on parts of the outside, I kinda like how more wood is incorporated into modern European buildings, its more environmental friendly for sure. I however also have like 20 cm's of concrete walls behind the wood and insulation layers to help keep the heat out in the summer and inside during winter. Those wood walls won't do much for insulation, its like they don't even bother to insulate in the USA because HVAC...
You have to remember that gas and electricity is cheaper where this house is located in the U.S. than all of Europe. Hence no need for triple glazed windows and more efficient HVAC systems.
And the windows. New houses in Europe are often build with triple glazing. But nontheless, happy to see houses in other parts of the world slowly becoming more energy friendly.
@@Artisyy well we have heating and cooling so we have no need to bundle up our house so drastically and our utility bill is a lot cheaper than Europeans
@@actingtavis Do you think we don't have heating and stuff in Europe or what? 😂 Of course we do. And it should be fairly obvious that a well insulated house will be a lot cheaper to heat or cool…
Scorpions around new construction are just a given in the desert southwest. I'm surprised you didn't have an issue at your last place as well. You'll have them popping up here and there for YEARS. Like, 5-6 years after construction is completely done in the area and no new homes are being built. Although, if that neighbor is out there every day spraying them, it might be significantly shorter once construction isn't happening all the time in the area.
Just want to say that love this type of videos and enjoy them, I have learn a lot from building a house from this video motivate me to do the same but still young with big dreams.

Cool I never seen this in real life though so I would be new to it but I got a idea of what houses look like before they are finished with them you guys are going to have a better idea of the house once it comes together as a big house and have the workers put better in stallion in those wall like before
Question about the windows. Where they are double pained windows guessing they are filled with the appropriate gas. If 1 of them ever looses the pressure ( seals go bad in time ) will the be easy to repair/replace or will the entire wall have to be torn out ?
It would look amazing if there were Edison lights that went across the top of the court yard. If they were smart ones that could tie into the rest of the smat home, it would complete the look of such a beautiful home while keeping everything connected to one system.
You are almost ready to install the Wires for the Control 4 System and Hidden Speakers on the walls and ceilings like you did in your Old Dream Home. Now it's more easy to get lost sing your home is Bigger
The cooling cost is going to be absurd. Our neighbor has a house from the early 1900's. The front window is about 15 feet long but is under the front porch so it doesn't get the heat from the sun. The ceilings are 10+ feet high because it is pre-air con. The rest of the windows open so you can have a nice cross breeze and get fresh air if it cools off.
It’s still surreal how absolutely massive houses are in the US. If you think double phone glass is thick. In Northern Europe we are only allowed to install triple glass now, for better insulation. They are so much more heavy.
That drone was a bit creepy, lol. Hope you get the bedroom plumbing sorted or you might have a sink next to the bed! Its looking really good so far, and (as a European,) It's looking sturdy!
Last thing you want in a courtyard is an olive tree, or a cypress, those have very destructive root systems. much better to go for something with a smaller more confined root system to it.
Its probably to late but they have a pest control system that goes inside your walls and has a connection point outside the wall that allows a pest control company to pump pesticide into the cavity of all of your walls. not sure if it will help with scorpions but worth looking into at least
This is smaller house than the previous one but I think this is going to be better looking house but I would skip the fire place because that going to have more places to spiders to hatch and hide unless you ran your fire place for 24 /7 and you won't need a fire place in the summer in Utah hopefully if you guys are like not a big fan of spider may be it's a good idea to skip the fire place next time but I was shocked that you guys put those bigger windows if your concern about your privacy your neighbors will see you guy easier but I can't wait for the finished build of the house because it looks great especially those windows
How about a bio-ethanol fireplace? I love ours, and it’s so easy to run. And bonus: you don’t get that slight smell that can happen with gas fireplaces.

6:17 do the stunning fire place with a tv above it that what we did when we built our our house it gave me what I wanted and my wife and it looks stunning
No TV in the bedroom, except guest / kids, because that's their own space / house (of sorts). Fireplace encourages conversation, TV kills it. Have a fireplace in a shared living space or even better, outdoors - great for having guests over (didn't you have an outdoor fireplace in the last house?). I'm sure whatever you're sitting on in the living room (in front of the TV) will be crazy comfortable and doesn't encourage you to stay in bed all day. Have a small TV / gaming room with a big TV elsewhere? Maybe something other than a fireplace or TV for the bedroom. A piece of artwork to complement the new furniture in the bedroom? A window above the furniture? I guess you know what you actually used (and didn't) in the last place, so you know which bits to improve / increase and which to not bother doing this time.
