Just throwing my own 2 pesos in; That IS very impressive longevity for what it is in that application. Goes to show how good oil, 3,000 road miles between passes plus the 150+ passes themselves helps keep things evenly worn. I love it when engine builders actually think their builds *all the way through* such as this one 👍 You're a good dude Steve

This video is a perfect example of why hands on experience trumps book smarts every single solitary time. Steve is a real world hands on mechanic. His knowledge is not coming from years of studying and classes. That’s trial and error, that’s years of “ oops that didn’t work let’s try this” not saying he doesn’t take classes or hasn’t in the past. Because you have to in this game. I’m just say when he speaks it doesn’t sound like a teacher reading to you from a textbook. It’s coming from a man with bloody knuckles and permanently greasy hands from years of hard work. THAT IS THE GUY I WANT BEHIND MY ENGINE EVERY SINGLE TIME. BOTTOM LINE. 🇺🇸💪🏼

Not gonna lie we’ve done that with dirt track engines more than a few times when we’ve lost a engine and couldn’t get another in time.
I kid you not one my buddies his backup engine for years literally had 4 different types of pistons in it dang thing would still be getting stuffed into random cars if he hadn’t dropped a valve. Dang thing ran like a scolded dog and we still have no idea why such a piece of junk ran like it did

The confidence and knowledge you have is awesome. You literally could have caught the lifter on a valve lash put a lifter and bearings and sent it back. The power out of that engine is insane for a bbc. Good job Steve

@@trevm3647definitely not given away, it is cheap advertising when considering the extremely targeted audience and long term impact.
I’d guarantee that simplisafe gives Cleetus more than 115k annually, probably double that, just for those 60 or 90 second ads to a generalised audience.
Half of Cleetus’ viewers either don’t own homes/businesses or are kids and have no interest in using/paying simplisafe.
Almost all of Cleetus’ viewers have interest in built engines and intention to afford/purchase race related products in the future. Honestly donating a 115k engine to the biggest drag racing TH-camr would be a good investment, keeping in mind the engine’s cost isn’t 115k, that’s the sale price.

I professionally review engines for a living and I find watching these videos very entertaining. It's a bit different to review an engine that's designed to run for a few hundred passes versus something that's designed for hundreds of thousands of miles. It also takes a lot of experience to be knowledgeable in all of the components of the engine.

Interesting to see the color change on cylinder #1. Crazy to think the VE of that cylinder changed enough due to the exhuast valve not fully opening by what 30-40 thousands. Holley system didn't know the VE was off on that cylinder so it injected enough fuel for what it expected for airflow not knowing the cylinder couldn't ingest the same amount of air due to the cylinder not emptying completly. #1 cylinder Airflow dropped fuel amount stayed constant and the cylinder went rich and is evidenced by the black exhuast valve. Pretty neat.
