  • the purpose of this series of vid clips isn't to walk someone through the literal process of how to physically unscrew, grease, cut, etc every part of this repair. to a degree, others on YT have shown that already and I relied upon those vids for this repair myself. but for the 2007-2014 GM style power seat forward and rearword tilt worm drive shaft replacements using Two Men One Garage ordered kits to rid my 2011 Escalade of that OEM nylon garbage, I used this to show the many hurdles and foibles one may encounter as this is a far more intricate repair than I anticipated and needs very specific parts and approaches to give someone the most success. Take that for what it is, as a tips/tricks help as opposed to a thorough step by step guide.
This project was ...daunting, to say the least. I've had a Much easier time working on engines sparingly than this which took Way too many of my hours to make right but is a a detailed, friction filled repair with restrictive work space.
At least for the driver's seat, I'll never have to do this again!
here's the Link to the part. front and rear are literally identical so doesn't matter if you order two fronts, two rears, etc. it takes 2 orders to complete 1 seat. tackle both front and rear at the same time. not worth only fixing a broken one then having to do the other half later on.

also HIGHLY recommend getting a wratcheting 90° screwdriver (micro driver as it's sometimes called) from Harbor Freight for this repair. it was frankly vital due to restricted space under the seat, leaving the cushion and frame attached. at the time of this posting it's a $3 part. I bought 2 of them, they're amazing period, let alone for the $$.

Thanks for posting the video. We just bought a 2014 Yukon, and both tilt shafts on the driver's seat had come loose out of the gearbox. I think the used car dealer just jammed the shafts into the gearbox, so it worked for a little, but when my short wife adjusted the seat to its limits, the whole tray collapsed on itself. The back/forward drive got catiwampus (one side was stuck), and the square driveshaft has actually twisted out of it's gearbox. Pretty sure I can just reinsert the square drive into the side gearbox, esp if I loosen the 3 motor tray to give me more room. Come to think of it, I may have to replace that side gearbox...we'll see. That's another video topic!
I was going to just buy a whole new seat tray, but as I watched videos on bad seat tilts, etc, I realized I could just replace the two tilt shafts.
So, bottom line, is that your video helped give me ideas and the confidence to replace the tilt shafts instead of replacing the whole seat tray (which is more $$$ and probably unnecessary) Many thanks!!!

My driver seat is having problems with the up and down. Motor is fine, shaft is bent and out.
How did you find the parts?
Where did you get the part?

Bummer for sure. Unlikely the shaft is bent. Nylon cog is likely sheared so the shaft is floating about inside the casing. Link for the product is in the vid description bud. Good luck.
