Well, at least since they let a writer retcon/update the origin. I mean, why does it make other Hulks too, unless everyone has a Hulk? It means Bruce wasn’t special, except that he’s “the strongest hulk there is!” Thunderbolt always had a Red Hulk in him? How about Harpy Betty Ross? Rick? Does Doc Samson just not have any hulk in him? The Leader? It was always the gamma, that was a trigger, but eventually everyone becomes a hulk. We did just get Thor Hulk, with his daddy Mjolnir. Bruce is driving Hulk like a truck now. 😂 I actually like some of the newer stuff, but the whole God’s Hulk form, and Hulk being TOAA’s favorite or something, meh.
Hulk is honestly one of the best Marvel heroes from a character perspective. When written by someone who cares for the character, Hulk is easily THE most nuanced and has the most interesting struggle. That's how I see it at least
I never saw hulk as an heroe, and it didn't come until later depiction. But this is the kind of hulk and the kind of conflict i feel is missing in modern marvel and Disney as a whole
This was actually my gripe about the 2008 movie, which I still love mind you, they didn't delve into the psychological trauma that is at the core of Hulk's character. If only I could combine the 2 then we'd have a perfect hulk movie
That would be amazing, even with its slightly shallower depiction of Bruce struggle if we could have gotten that same quality for Bruce's character from that movie too most of Avengers AoU all the way up until now I believe we would have gotten there or at least close to that happy medium between the two maybe, not as artistic or quite as deep, but I believe we'd all be happier
I’m like a year late but if you do get this, I’d recommend watching the deleted/alternate scenes. They touch on it. It’s too bad Disney buried the more interesting scenes.
2003 had trauma from childhood while 2008 had struggles with always being cautious about the hulk coming out, can never have a break, always having to worry about his heart rate, breathing, every emotion he gets, constant self awareness, he had to learn to control his body completely, imagine both combined... A perfect hulk we deserve honesty

This is the Hulk video ive wanted for years. The Hulk that people want to long for but avoid seeing when its in front of them because of some odd editing or a long runtime. Thank you for this video. i hope it reaches lots of people in the future.
"they cleverly had 2008 hulk start where 2003 hulk ends." it's not a sequel, 2008 is a reboot the ending of hulk 03: "A year later, Ross has Betty under constant surveillance, as many Hulk sightings get reported. In exile in the Amazon Rainforest, Bruce is alive as a medical camp doctor. His camp gets overrun by soldiers who try to steal their supplies. After Bruce unsuccessfully warns their commander not to make him angry, the Hulk roars in rage." the beginning of norton's hulk "Banner works at a bottling factory in Rocinha, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, while searching for a cure for his condition. On the internet, he anonymously collaborates with a colleague known only as "Mr. Blue." bana hulk was never in brazil but norton hulk was, so how 2008 hulk start where 2003 hulk ends. stfu with this bad takes so annoying
@Oldschool1943 he could have literally jumped from place to place. It's not like anyone in the amazon is going to report him. 08 Hulk is basically a soft reboot
The repressed rage aspect was first explored by either Jim Salicrup or Roger Stern (I'm not sure which) in the late 70s, at the same time David Michelin made Tony Stark an alcoholic, and Chris Claremont started transforming Magneto into a Gypsy Holocaust survivor. That was a period when the Marvel writers had taken a page from Denny O'Neil's Batman, and Jack Kirby's Superman to explore a more grounded emotional truth to characters.
This is the BEST Hulk movie I've ever seen in my life, I was a little boy when I saw the movie in theaters and it completely caught my attention throughout. I know it's been ridiculed for how long it is and that it's "boring", let me tell y'all that I sat through King Kong (2005) and this film and I wasn't bored at all. This film is a underrated near masterpiece, the reason why I love it is for how dramatic and somber it is. Also the story of Bruce and David definitely hit home to me personally because I had a complicated relationship with my father. Also that scene in which Bruce is underwater (after the nuke killed his father) and he has the only nice memory of his father made me sad, when I rewatched the scene after my father passed away last year... I was sobbing endless tears. My hatred for him was gone and I still miss him, and it's why I hold this movie close to my heart because it spoke to me personally and it did the character's psychology extremely well.
Personally, the best adaptation of Hulk of all is not even live action film but rather the Avenger EMH, specially how it portrays Hulk and Banner duality, with both having distinct personality and having to work together to prove themselves as heroes to world, unlike films where Banner is main protagonist while the Hulk is just savage beast for the action scenes (the only films I felt Hulk had personality were Ragnarok and Infinity War)
@@zemox2534 Agreed, specially how it actually did something different from Hulk stories and show Banner and Hulk interacting and working together, rather than Banner being protagonist and Hulk just weapon. Plus the show did better job than the comics by having the Hulk be member of the Avengers and develop bonds with members like Thor, Wasp and Hawkeye (in comics and other versions, Banner end up leaving the team and becomes more a occasional ally)
Yet, Hulk was that way in comics, for many, many years. It was a progression, both in the comics and the movies. *I agree EMH is the best adaptation of any medium, for nearly all of those characters. It’s the most comic book like.
@@CorbCorbin Kind of. Only in the late 90's and beginning of the 2000 we start to have stories were Banner and the Hulk interact and work together. Usually Banner and the Hulk are against each other, with Banner wanting to find cure and Hulk just wanting to be left alone. In EMH, not only they are able to interact but Hulk is truly trying to hero, unlike the comics were, most of times he did is it was when he had Banner mind (otherwise he saved the day bc his friends and Banner got involve in trouble).
I remember being really young and watching this movie while i was sick with the flu and when it was finished i went through the special features. I watched the making of documentary and i think for the first time I began to see the artistic intent behind something. This isnt even a superhero movie to me, its like some kinda high concept sci-fi monster movie, that did everything it could to stay grounded. Even the nutshots add to the movie for me, like the hulk is just ripping through whats in front of him and him tripping up or hitting himself by accident makes him seem all the more beastial and human
All people bring up is the surface level criticism of the splitting screens and stuff, This is a nice change of pace! Like start of nuanced conversation about the Star Wars prequels.
This is the best interpretation of the hulk ever in live action. It shits on the 2008 and 2012 mainly because hulk is treated like an actual character and not just a spectacle for action. Hulk is treated like a Frankenstein monster, a misunderstood creature who just wants to be left alone and is also capable of doing heroic things, like when hulk saved that jet pilot from crashing into the bridge and saved Betty from the dogs. We also get a glimpse of hulk vs banner the monster vs the man, in the comics hulk hates because he thinks banner is trying to make him weak. Hulk is just as much important as banner is when it comes to character and I feel like live action interpretations of hulk after 2003 miss the mark.
I loved this film so much because when I was a kid watching this, I really felt like reading a comic book while watching one simultaneously. I didn't care about Hulk's color or size because from what I've learned, many Hulk comics also portray Hulk in different colors and sizes. I loved the story, the pacing, and the whole feel it had. Plus, Eric Bana acted his ass off, and so did Elliot, Nolte, and Connelly. I personally loved the comic book transitions and how it presented the scenes. I never got lost in the movie, I knew what I was watching, I knew what the story was trying to tell me.
Yup...i have always thought this hulk was a great film...i honestly never got all the hate it received. Even as a kid I liked hulk because he was a tragic character and somehow my 11 year old self understood that. Yes the final fight was a little anticlimactic because everything was so dark, but apart from that, great film. (also the lighting on the hulk model is the best imo)
I connected with Hulk, Spider-Man, wolverine, Batman, Daredevil as a kid because I also have a really traumatic childhood and it was nice seeing characters that overcame their traumas to become stronger people
Love this movie ngl. And this video does a fantastic job explaining why! I’m glad this films getting more attention and I’m glad TH-cam recommended this to me!
I know making a Hulk trilogy video is a very incredible task to take, but like you said in the video, the Hulk represents what today's society is, where a person hides pieces of themselves from society. And I know that you love those types of characters as based off your dc movie videos. Plus, imagine Red Hulk being an allegory for the military becoming the threat they fight against. But either way this was an incredible video.
1:20 I agree that shot is so memorable I remember being blown away by trippy scenes like that it's miles better than some of the things we've seen from the MCU, dceu and Sony's Spider-Man spinoff franchise recently man
Back to regular content as per usual !!! Hopefully the uploads will be a bit more consistent now :D Speaking of uploads my Illuminati members on Patreon will be deciding the direction I take the channel with my next upload !! Also if you've watched the 2003 Hulk movie recently let me know how your rewatch went :D
I feel the same way you do when I first watched hulk I was mixed on it I was 8 when the movie came out I love the action and visuals but I was bored by the dialogue and characters but now I love it the script tackles themes so many adult and mature themes the behind the scenes of this movie made me love it even more seeing Ang Lee's passion about the story he wanted to tell is inspiring
I appreciated that it took the emotional aspect seriously. The Hulk really feels like an out of control curse on Bruce Banner that destroys his old life completely. The MCU Hulk feels very tame in comparison, more like the Looney Tunes Tasmanian Devil. Visually though it's pretty goofy. The comic book transitions and split screens make the whole thing feel a bit artificial even though the tone is more grim and serious.
I don't understand how some people can prefer "the incredible Hulk" over this. "Hulk" has issues, but I find it to be better than the 2008 movie in every aspect still; and it is extremely refreshing when compared with "marvel movies".
I prefer this AND the Incredible Hulk. Even though Norton’s Hulk couldn’t jump far like Bana’s, he got throw hands a lot more than bana. And I personally like the more gritty, grimey looking hulk.
FINALLY somebody saw what I saw opening weekend of this movie wayback when! "A modern mythical tragedy, like a Shakespearean epic..." Ang Lee turned this pop culture product into...poetry...
People need to stop associating comic book aesthetic with "childish". It's a media, an art form. One that Ang Lee took with seriousness. And to me, the editing perfectly fits the "subconscious dive" and "dream" tone the film is looking for. Is like the movie itself moves in the speed of thought. Sometimes it stops for a while to contemplate, sometimes it stitches events so far apart is kinda disjointed, and that keeps the unease. That stitching is just like what we do when we read comics, we connect different frames through the empty spaces of the gutter. The gutter is place of the mind, the subconscious, and that's what the film is trying to unveil
the CGI is better in this movie than in newer hulk movies, imo and the cinematography, storytelling and score are top notch too. It's the best Hulk movie I've seen. It's deep, it has love for the source material and a lot of attention to detail put into it.
I love the "editing" shot composition. It gives you more information than were usually afforded , seeing multiple angles of the same thing, seeing multiple people reactions at the same time. I appreciate the artistry of it too but most of all i like all the info it packs on screen
Hands down the best hulk to ever bless us on the big screen, the editing is like that amazing cross between a comic and a movie, something a lot of early 2000’s movies tried to do but hardly any of them could capture.
As others have said in the comment section this movie really dives into Bruce's issues on a surface and internal level unlike in the MCU. In the MCU they touch on it but don't expand on it due to Bruce isn't the main character, favor jokes, and Hulk is only used as a weapon instead of his person. That's why I sometime in the future like in EMH a conversation between Hulk and Banner. Maybe Hulk is tired of being fused and wants to be the one in charge. We will probably see that eventually hopefully. Anyway this movie holds up as time goes on. The editing is a little weird and was really a comic book come to life. If Bana comes back I want to see him be the Maestro of the multiverse. I think that would be great change of pace for what we are use to seeing. I want to see Betty and Rick Jones in the films. Smart Hulk and Banner being the forefront are kind of getting annoying. Skarr should question Smart Hulk and say, "Who the hell you are? Where's my real father?" Overall great breakdown on why this Hulk should be appreciated more now.
Thank you for this. Hulk has always been my favorite version of this character. Lee gave him a depth that is missing in every other story, and made him a fully realized persona with a rich narrative. I always recommend this movie to those who have not seen it, and will debate vehemently with anyone who has seen it and rated it less than it deserves.
I remembered rewatching this film all the time as a kid, and it was the main part of what made Hulk one of my favorite Marvel characters. However, I haven't rewatched it since, believing the hate this movie gets and thinking maybe kid me had it wrong. After this video, though, I am compelled to rewatch it, as after how The Hulk is being treated in the MCU nowadays, I need to watch something that actually does The Hulk some justice. Update: Okay, I rewatched it. The editing is wack, and the pacing could be better, but overall a GREAT story that is better than some recent MCU. Also that action sequence in the desert SLAPS! Arguably the strongest Hulk in live-action.
I would love to hear you pitch a Hulk movie! Personally I’m ok without World War Hulk, and would rather have something that combines the Peter David run and the recent Immortal Hulk run into a horror driven film focusing on his personality disorder, and father issues.
It's clearly the best Hulk movie. Indeed the whole Marvel gamut. It has so much emotion - off the scale .People who moan about the special effects are people who have no self awareness at all in their life. It's about life and death
Could not agree more. It's a cinematic version of a comic book for adults and I loved it back in the day even when everyone was trashing it. Ang Lee and Eric Bana truly got the essence of the Hulk even though Bana admitted that he wasn't a comic book fan. Norton admitted that he was a comic book nut and understood the character as well. I still prefer the 2003 movie though. I think Mark Ruffalo nailed the role as well upto the first half of the first Avenger movie and then it just all started unravelling towards the second half and from thereon and subsequent movies the Hulk literally started coming apart at the seams. And that pathetic lullaby just drives me up the wall. It was used in the comics once by Romanoff and had no effect on the Hulk whatsoever. In the MCU movies it calms The Hulk down out of nowhere and there is no explanation given as to why it works and how it was first used. Just a series of contrivances and plot devices. Don't even get me started on the clownification of Hulk in Ragnarok. Watching Rufallos interviews he just appears to be parroting words to show that he gets the Hulk and I'm starting to wonder if he actually fears getting typecast and secretly despises the character.
I have always loved this movie and it is 100% the best live action Hulk. The score is absolutely haunting and it’s a character study about childhood trauma wearing a hulk skin.
It's sad that people are just realizing how good this movie is. Back then I played this movie over and over. It has a special place in my heart and for all the reasons that you mentioned
The 2008 film had my favorite Hulk/Bruce, but 2003 was also really good. Normally videos like these are "masculinity bad, insert pseudo intellectual nuance here," but you did a great job covering the topic of masculinity in a fair way that ties into the movie. Great stuff.
This movie aged so well especially the comic book style it had it was ahead of its time and people didn’t see it back then I’m glad years later people are appreciating the best Hulk adaptation
This literally was the film that heavily inspired the immortal hulk storyline from the comics in which was some of best storytelling of the hulk character ever imo. It truly is an underrated/over-hated superhero movie all in all.
this is my childhood hulk, eric bana version, including edward norton. The reason why people hated the 2003 hulk is because both, they weren't ready for a heavy psychological movie, and only see hulk as a green angry monster known for smashing things. But that is where they're wrong. He's more than that. He has layers. He's a troubled, traumatized man that so happens to turn into a angry creature due to his dad's experiments and the accidental gamma exposure. Plus, it's obvious that bruce banner is not a sunshine type character. He's lonely and has to be on the run, from people who are hunting him, or to avoid hurting people.
This is my favourite superhero movie ever. That gonzo editing? That's editing that TRUSTS the audience. The film trusts each element of itself, it trusts the Hulk character, it trusts the actors + craft workers, it trusts its story (mostly), & all bc it TRUSTS the audience. I have never seen a Marvel EU product that trusts its audience.
Probably takes away my objectivity a bit but some of the things you critique I genuinely enjoy about the film, particularly the comic book style panel editing. I really liked what he was going for there and thought it was consistent and well done throughout. My only real gripe is the writing lets me down sometimes. I think about the Betty Bruce Ross nightmare scene “doctor it’s these dreams I’ve been having…. Tell me about your dreams”. Or the better Bruce breakfast scene where Bruce talks about his booming heartbeat. But at other parts the movie - particularly the most important parts - the dialogue and writing is spot on.
Interesting. I interpreted the scene where Betty tells him about her dreams as Bruce's earnest attempt to engage and be vulnerable with her, unlike his own dreams that keep him up at night. It gave us a glimpse into their genuine but fractured connection to one another. Could just be me.
@@joeytocd oh I totally interpreted the scene the same way. I also just loved the look of the scene, very intimate moment, and I think that cabin/woods setting is the same location where the dog fight is later. But it was just that one exchange I referenced, the delivery of the lines didn't really match the sincerity of the tone. I genuinely couldn't tell if Betty was just being playful or serious, and then Bruce is like 'tell me about your dreams' in sort of a deadpan way. So maybe its the delivery more than the writing.
Honestly, I'd love for someone to come along and bring Hulk back to his roots like Yamazaki did with Godzilla Minus One and make a period piece in the 60s that takes it's time exploring the characters like this movie did.
I was abused physically as a child by my so called father enduring daily beatings and as soon as i could i turned to bodybuilding and kickboxing and vowed i would never be bullied again by ANYONE, so this movie hits me hard i can totally relate to hulk/bruce banner
I did not think I was going to have a deep retrospective view and connection to Bruce. I have been going to therapy for a few months because of my abusing father and always loved this movie. Now I know why.
This movie was my childhood. The more complex and serious themes really rubbed off on me then but i rewatched it recently and it really clicked so much more as an adult.
This was really a great movie, more for being daring. It's a superhero movie that walks the line into arthouse as you say. With Marvel movies feeling very much like a line of sausages, Ang Lee needs to come back.
The movie is underrated but I think David Banner ruined the film. Nick Nolte was too over the top and he didn’t have any real motivation to wanting power. If they did Brian Banner like in the comics of being an abusive husband/father scientist who believes in a “monster gene” the movie would have been better.
I loved the editing, to me its innovative and unique, like being there with the actors looking around or tapping into memories without interruption and jump-cuts used in other movies. Its beautiful, really.
You say David has rejected any need for self reflection then immediately play a clip of him sorrowfully saying he took everything that was dear to him and transformed it into nothing more than a memoy
Around the time this movie came out, Hulk was my JAM. I had this encyclopedia-type thing that had basically all the info about the Hulk comics you could want to know. I read that thing so many times that it fell apart lmao. Little kid me was GEEKIN in the theater for this movie. I've always loved it ever since.
As someone who always genuinely enjoyed this movie, you pointed out why it’s such an amazing movie, and I will definitely be rewatching it again. Thanks M8
Absorbing Man could be such a great villain for the MCU. *The actual one, with a little polishing, and cleverness, that Creel, just hardly ever had in comics.
This film truly did capture the nuance and emotions of what Bruce's life might have been like. It seams well with our reality and how our society would react to such a being.
Ironically, since I'm a major comic book fan and especially Hulk fan, the "comic book" editing/transitions were a major reason for me not being able to get into the movie. The lead and often Nolte's acting also failed to draw me in, though for opposite reasons; Bruce most of the time seemed wooden to me and Nolte seemed over the top. By the time acting scenes happned that were interesting to me, I had been so uninterested in the characters for so long that it was just too late. But I did like that Hulk was actually green and had purple pants and wasnt muted and his raw power was obvious. I also like that he had daylight scenes and wasnt hidden in shadows and drabness. And, as comic accurate as I'm guessing as it was by then, since Bruce's abusibe dad arc didnt even exist yet when i was still collecting the Hulk, I had that bias against the movie as well. Still, even though this isn't anything I'd watch again, I do like to think that this was the Hulk of the Toby McGuire universe and that the lead may actually appear again in that context, even if just in cameo; after all, for many, he is THEIR Hulk every bit as much that Bixby/Ferigno are mine.
By far the best superhero movie in my opinion. A well layered story, properly acted by A-class actors and really well directed by a man who knows the art. I watch it every couple of years and always come away impressed...and amazed that the film was generally panned by the "fans".
my fave Hulk.... literally fighting his demons and also his father the devil... love the scene where he transforms and forces Bruce's Hulk to come out outta the shadows..
Also, i love those trippy shots. Absolutely took this to another level showcases not only that the hulk has the healing factor, the strength factor, whatever his impenetrable favtor is caller, but also his insanely heightened sense of sight and smell and hearing. Why is thst aspect abandoned nowadays?!
I saw this movie back in 2003 when I was 13 years of age and I really liked it, it's true The Hulk is a raging monster that destroys anything in his path, but he is also a tortured soul, The Hulk like the Frankenstein monster just wishes that everyone would leave him alone, since he is seen a monster there is no way that is gonna happen and everyone falls in a vicious cycle. I'm not gonna deny this movie's flaws, the acting is bland, the editon was a creative choise that could have been handled better (I mean look at Sin City, that's how you make a movie look like a comic book), the pasing is a little off as well, it would have been better is if they cut the whole begging with David Banner and started the movie with just Bruce having a nightmare due to flashes of his represed memories, and we leave the whole father reveal as a mistery throught the movie and not shown in the 1st fourth of salid movie and constantly coming back to it so we could see somenthing we already saw. I think Ang Lee had a great script that no one else understood, nor the producers nor the actors nor the executives at Universal, but they wanted a "superhero movie" to compete against movies like Blade The X-Men Spider-Man form Waner Bros 20th Century Fox and Sony repectively, and just so happens that Universal had the rights to The Hulk, so they let Ang Lee make his Hulk movie without knowing what they had and just to make it to the growing market of "superhero movies".
7:35 it's not about unwillingness or not wanting to unleash a part of himself. He's unconscious unaware that he's even hurt/damaged unaware of his survival tactics. You keep pointing to conscious effort and choice which is completely the opposite of the movie and his journey. It's about his subconscious, about his emotional memory BEYOND the edge of his mind. The type of formative lost memories we can only access when we dream and our subconscious are in the driver seat
I found this on Disney+ probably a year ago with my mom and we watched it before The Incredible Hulk. Not only did I discover one of my favorite superhero movies, but also that The Incredible Hulk is nowhere near as good as I remembered it. Watching these two back to back really shows off how great Hulk is and how bad The Incredible Hulk is.

You really know how to say your words buddy. I appreciate you telling us your opinion about the movie and your small life story take care man
@@animated_muckles Thanks, Jackson.
Hope you’re having a good day.
As someone dealing with a narcissistic abusive dad this oddly spoke to me despite the title being hulk. Thanks for this
Same. A lot of my trauma I find deeply resonates in this film.
Check out my comment. Dead ass hit me hard af
I agree. I love the way Hulk and Bruce were written in EMH. That is the definitive version of the character for me
@@zemox2534 Agreed, specially how it actually did something different from Hulk stories and show Banner and Hulk interacting and working together, rather than Banner being protagonist and Hulk just weapon.
@@alexandrefrauches132 No no Hulk was crap in ragnarok and infinity war
2012 is the 2008 version. They are the same Hulk.
I think Eric Bana was miscast as Bruce Banner shouldn't look like someone, you'd want to grab a beer with.
@@ДимчоДимов-ж7е I know it's just that a lot of hulk fans like to separate them.

No cap , this is the one. I personally have no complaints. Since I first seen it as a child I’ve seen nothin better 💯😂
I connected with Hulk, Spider-Man, wolverine, Batman, Daredevil as a kid because I also have a really traumatic childhood and it was nice seeing characters that overcame their traumas to become stronger people
When looking at The Immortal Hulk, I felt that Al Ewan was drawing from the movie

1:20 I agree that shot is so memorable I remember being blown away by trippy scenes like that it's miles better than some of the things we've seen from the MCU, dceu and Sony's Spider-Man spinoff franchise recently man
This is the Hulk I grew up with. I'd rather have this Hulk then the dabbing Shrek we have now. They turned Hulk into an absolute joke.
You wouldn't like him when he's Ang Lee.
I watched this movie SO MUCH growing up so thank you!!!!
Thanks for this, I've been waiting for someone to make the case better than I ever could. I freaking love this film.
This movie is underrated has a lot more substance then the newer ones
FINALLY somebody saw what I saw opening weekend of this movie wayback when! "A modern mythical tragedy, like a Shakespearean epic..." Ang Lee turned this pop culture product into...poetry...
Ive grown to love this Hulk movie over time man
Your perspectives help me realize so much and helps me and my journey of creating my art🙏🏽
i legit still think the CGI in this movie was the best and looked so good specially in the day light , and i unironically loved the comic book edits
CGI didn't bother me..
Neither the ink in the comics...
That mirror scene is legendary!
This movie is the reason why I became a Hulk fan.
I would like to see a video dedicated to The Hulk as you did with X-Men or the DC stuff.
I'm 50 and have been reading comics my whole life. imo this isn't only best Hulk movie it's the best comic book to movie EVER.
I want a movie based on indestructible hulk first than planet hulk and afterwards world war hulk
World War Hulk only works if it’s built up to
This was my son's favorite movie when he was a baby/toddler....he just turned 20 last month.
It's clearly the best Hulk movie. Indeed the whole Marvel gamut. It has so much emotion - off the scale .People who moan about the special effects are people who have no self awareness at all in their life. It's about life and death
Great childhood memories this is why we are so disappointed with the current hulk situation
I wish we got a trilogy
If this movie got a trilogy it would be in same league as the sam raimi spiderman trilogy and dark knight trilogy

I like to think that Ang Lee's Hulk is the definitive Hulk, and its a shame that Hulk doesn't get the respect he deserves in the MCU.
Nice work man truly, enjoyed it and looking forward to the next one.
I know hr's never had a film before but I'd love to see you tackle imagining a Martian Manhunter film
This movie aged so well especially the comic book style it had it was ahead of its time and people didn’t see it back then I’m glad years later people are appreciating the best Hulk adaptation
this was a creepy dark movie but the first hulk-out was the best ever made, a true brute just destroying everything in sight
This literally was the film that heavily inspired the immortal hulk storyline from the comics in which was some of best storytelling of the hulk character ever imo. It truly is an underrated/over-hated superhero movie all in all.
17:10 As a fan The Hulk/Bruce persona break down was absolutely beautiful
this is my childhood hulk, eric bana version, including edward norton.
As a Hulk super fan I'll take what I can get. I love Ang Lee's Hulk.
I made a lot of memes off of it!
omg talk like a human not a bot. nobody talks like this in real life "As a Hulk super fan"
Nope, I LOVE the comic book editing. I've always loved this movie
As a lifelong Hulk fan going back to the early 80's. This is by far the best silver screen version of the Hulk and a massively underrated movie.
This is an absolutely amazing video. Please keep up the great work never give up.
0:03 I want a planet hulk movie first
I was abused physically as a child by my so called father enduring daily beatings and as soon as i could i turned to bodybuilding and kickboxing and vowed i would never be bullied again by ANYONE, so this movie hits me hard i can totally relate to hulk/bruce banner
I was surprised coming back to this movie no longer a kid at how much it taught me about myself.
This is what mcu hulk needs to be
I've always loved this movie and its do for a rewatch.
It seams well with our reality and how our society would react to such a being.
id like to see you do a video essay on The Incredible Hulk 2008
Your video is not too deep, its perfectly thoughtful and heartfelt, just like "Hulk"
Great work man, I enjoyed your take on this immensely
0:29 The soundtrack (by Danny Elfman) is even beautiful.
By far the best superhero movie in my opinion. A well layered story, properly acted by A-class actors and really well directed by a man who knows the art.
I watch it every couple of years and always come away impressed...and amazed that the film was generally panned by the "fans".
The dog fight alone in this movie smokes the other hulk movies
I love some of the editing choices… feels like a real comic book movie
my fave Hulk.... literally fighting his demons and also his father the devil... love the scene where he transforms and forces Bruce's Hulk to come out outta the shadows..
My only problem with the movie was the slow pace of the first half of the movie. I also like the Ed Norton Hulk movie way better.
Mm, yes. Hulk 2003. The thinking man's superhero movie.
(No hate, I love this video and movie)
Also, i love those trippy shots. Absolutely took this to another level showcases not only that the hulk has the healing factor, the strength factor, whatever his impenetrable favtor is caller, but also his insanely heightened sense of sight and smell and hearing. Why is thst aspect abandoned nowadays?!
The video game for this movie was actually pretty good imo.
Childhood days
I found this on Disney+ probably a year ago with my mom and we watched it before The Incredible Hulk. Not only did I discover one of my favorite superhero movies, but also that The Incredible Hulk is nowhere near as good as I remembered it. Watching these two back to back really shows off how great Hulk is and how bad The Incredible Hulk is.
Fantastic video. K’ll have to give the Hulk a rewatch. It’s been an age.
