      You may need to activate Developer mode on your Android phone to get the midi option, although it may not be available on some older versions of Android

    Thanks! Any suggestion how could I use my android tablet as a 4x4 (or some other size) MIDI drum pad for DAW on Windows?

      Hi, Midi Controller is an app by Volcano Mobile that is free and has 6 pads (I'm planning a video tutorial for it soon). I'm personally working on releasing an android app that will have 16 pads (as well as lots of other cool stuff) but I haven't yet got to alpha testing, so not ready to be released yet.

      On Windows, your should detect your phone as a midi controller and should be shown in your midi devices as Midi Function (tutorial video coming soon) 😀👍

      Hi, to keep the video simple I used a very basic midi keyboard app that doesn't have any changeable settings. Other apps, like zenbeats, will give you control over the midi keyboard layout.

      Have you activated developer mode on your phone? You probably have to unlock developer mode first.
      To activate developer mode, tap on the settings app, tap on About Phone, then tap on the Build Number seven times.

      If your phone is on android version 6 or higher, you will need to activate developer mode on your phone... Tap on the Android settings app, tap on About Phone, tap on Software Information, then tap on Build Number seven times.
      The midi option should now appear as one of the connection options when you connect your phone to a computer.

      Hi, I'm guessing the latency I'm getting is about 5ms. Basically, the latency I'm getting is not noticeable at all.

    I am not sure the reason why Honor 70 phone Android 13 is not recognizing MIDI Keyboard connected via USB OTG, it can recognized USB Drive but not MIDI Keyboard.

    • @IbandUK
      @IbandUK  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @nexuzinnovation-com
      First, make sure your midi keyboard is class compliant (does not need a driver) as some midi keyboards are not class compliant so do not work with Android (some Korg midi keyboards, for example).
      Also, OTG has several levels of support, so OTG support for USB file drives does not automatically mean OTG support for USB midi or USB audio. I recommend installing the Midi Scope app on your phone. Open the Midi Scope app then plug in your midi keyboard... Your midi keyboard should show up on the Midi Scope app screen. If it doesn't, either your keyboard is not class compliant, your phone does not support OTG USB midi or the OTG cable is in someway not working properly.
