Brian, for the first time ever in my life, I have signed up for a premium account for a TH-cam channel (ActiveMelody). In the past, I was always hesitant because I didn't think I'd get my money's worth and I thought it would take too much time to pick out the few pearls of learning in long lessons. But after watching a couple dozen of your lessons, I was sure that by becoming a premium member, my guitar playing would improve and that my money and my time were being wisely invested. This is because, your lessons present a healthy and balanced dose of theory and application, and you have a great sound and an extensive knowledge of different guitar styles. I'm really excited to start this next chapter in my guitar playing. Thank you!
I love when you teach how to find a "pattern" from just one note on the B or E string. That eliminates my need to think and it gives me a place to go back to when I get lost. When I have to think during a solo, it sounds like somebody throwing a bike chain into an F1 engine.
How good is this video. So useful for beginners to get them started playing lead guitar and sounding like you're actually playing music. Definitely helps build confidence.
This is an interesting variation of the BB box. BB superimposes the rectangle on the triangle by using D and E on the first string rather than sliding to the C#. I'll add this to my tool kit. Thanks!
You communications 2 viewers is a whole new concept opening up keys and platforms ! 4 the one thing anyone who plays wants their expressions 4 accomplishment and enjoyment thanks
Brian you just totally Rocked my World! This is an Amazing Lesson! I've always been confused on playing leads and this made my scales make more sense in the application on how to start playing lead. Thank you man! :)
thank you very much i been looking all over you tube for this kind of lesson ... i appreciate and thank you ..more lessons like this please ..cheers keep up the great work
You exp!ained his better than anyone I have seen so far. I find these to help my grandson. Although I have played mainly in the 80s and 90s, I could not articulate this lesson as well as you. Hell, I could have used your help probably before you were born. Keep helping!
Great lesson and great fun! I set up a G blues in Chordbot and then started having fun - which went even better once I remembered to add in the b3! Will have more fun later!
Excellent demonstration. This type of demonstration is very useful to play the Major pentatonic. Pl. explain how to use the chords on Major pentatonic in your next demonstration, if possible. Thanking you.
Thanks Brian, this is extremely useful, any chance u can do a similar lesson using a minor key and identifying nice zones that work in a minor key, these are really useful hotspots!!
For A minor it's the same pattern just go down 2 frets so third finger is playing the A instead of your first finger, or you can go up three frets from where he is playing in the video. Both will be A minor. In this video he starts the A major pentatonic in what is sometimes called the "BB King box", go down two frets to A minor and you are in the "House of Blues"
Thanks again Brian. Can you explain what 3rds and 6ths are and how theyre used with the chord changes for lead playing. Are they just notes from the chordal scale?
Incidentally, this pattern of notes are used in the intro and solo that Jeff Beck (RIP) plays in “Heart full of soul” by the Yardbirds! Possibly played in “C”?
Amazing! Something i still don‘t get: Let‘s say a jam track in the key of A has a chord progression like A - D - E. Can i solo over all three chords using just the A pentatonic, or do i have to change to D and E pentatonic to align with the chord changes?
It would certainly help me if, early in your presentation, you might verbalize the intervals of the key of A which the notes in the triangle and rectangle represent.
Brian, I have finally located the triangle and rectangle in the 4th and 5th patterns. This means, for this example, I can start or end the A major pentatonic scale in the 2nd pattern on the 5th fret of the low E strong. Thatʼs new to me as I had thought I need to always start off the root on low E strong with the pattern 1. Can you please verify for me it is true? Thank you.
@@activemelody ty...working with a song now for practice..loop is Am, F...so looking to find that spot....i did find same area using 6th fret 2nd string as my F root....in my mind in the Lydian scale shape...and then using Am penta starting at 5th fret...seems to work nicely.. For the Am im getting the 4,6,b7,1,b3,4 intervals, and for F im getting the 6,1,2,3,5,6... Looks like prob notes in Am scale are the 2 and the 5, and in tbe F its the 4 and the 7(not flatted).. Hope im seeing this correctly.. Or do I need to use an A as the root on the left side of triangle because its in the key of A???
"Lord I was born a rambling man" I could hear that song as soon as you hit those licks
Retired and learning guitar.
Your videos give me a bit of inspiration in the morning with my coffee.
Me too!
Light bulb over Ioad.....ive seen triangles rectangles..but this one dug into the core...2nd string..love it...thank you
Thanks Brian for teaching me how to play lead.
Thank God I've found this video.. thanks for your kindness Sir... you make my day!
My goodness! Great teacher and great lessons! If you don't know already, you have found your calling. Thanks so much for your efforts.
You are the best teacher I’ve encountered on You Tube. I will sign up for your lessons/channel. 😊

awesome :) Welcome Tim
I wish I could thousend thumb's up! This open's my world of soloing. Thanks man.
Making baby steps sound so amazing is how to keep a beginner oead player interested. Such valuable lessons you do mate.
More of Brian’s Magic Sauce, fantastic, the teacher that keeps on giving, thank you.
I've looked back over lessons. All the way down the neck there are triangles and squares with parts of the miinor and major pentatonic. Brilliant!
Absolute genius …A rare lightbulb moment for me ..Thanks so much mate
Wow! This is great Brian. Thanks for doing this. Love the enthusiasm in your delivery.
Your a Legend man, Thanks for helping begginers like me make our dreams come true, your the Real Rockstar 👑🍻

Thanks Brian, I needed something I could pick up fast, this lesson was perfect. Learned a snippet of theory too.
Man that is an incredibly easy technique. Thank you for sharing
One of those game changers Brian. Well done and thanks.
This is an interesting variation of the BB box. BB superimposes the rectangle on the triangle by using D and E on the first string rather than sliding to the C#. I'll add this to my tool kit. Thanks!
Appreciate your teaching, it keeps me encouraged
This is helpful. It’s easier for me to learn in small bits rather than a whole book in 20 minutes
You communications 2 viewers is a whole new concept opening up keys and platforms ! 4 the one thing anyone who plays wants their expressions 4 accomplishment and enjoyment thanks
You're a master of minimalism, Brian! It's amazing how good you make it sound, too!👌💕
👍🎸💡
Less more, unless you are all hair spray and spandex! 😂🤣
Realy, a gread teacher, and. Unbeliveble Melodie, thank you, very much.
man I just learned something thank you so much 😁

this guy is so awesome
You are a brilliant teacher, Brian!
Another GREAT lesson Brian, the backtrack has a little Allman Bros Back to Where it All Began vibe. We should keep thanking you for these!
Brian… You are amazing! Yet another fantastic lesson/insight! 🎸🎶
thank you very much i been looking all over you tube for this kind of lesson ... i appreciate and thank you ..more lessons like this please ..cheers keep up the great work
Great lesson, Simple, direct and concise! Love your teaching methods.

I believe you inspire everyone in the guitar world. Thanks
Best lesson I have seen great job ! Love your videos.
You are so inspirational Brian! Thanks a bunch for another good lesson
Great lesson, Brian! Thanks so much.
Wonderfully simplified for us beginners. Thank you!

I think these lessons are just great thank you so much.

Awesome lesson, Brian 👍👍
this is just great, your work and effort is very appreciated, Sir!
Hey Brian, that was awesome! Thanks so much and keep these great videos coming!
Simple small patterns help me a lot! Thanks!
Wow Brian, this is awesome! Great job as always, thanks so much!
Excellent demonstration. This type of demonstration is very useful to play the Major pentatonic. Pl. explain how to use the chords on Major pentatonic in your next demonstration, if possible. Thanking you.
Brilliant Brian. I'm sure we've seen these triangles before....but fantastic reprise! I'll be going there again.
Great Lesson Brian... 🤙
Most useful video for soloing
Excellent Brian. Thank you from a beginner 😊
one of the bestest lessons
Once again, thanks so much for this Brian.
Good lesson and practice loop. Thanks for your generosity.
If I am not mistake, I heard some Allman brothers in that lesson. Nice!!
Thanks Brian, this is extremely useful, any chance u can do a similar lesson using a minor key and identifying nice zones that work in a minor key, these are really useful hotspots!!
This is briljant Brian....thank You...!
Ah, the glories of BB’s Box. But you’ve got it sounding here way more like a cut off a Ron Wood solo album.
Wow. Love this 😎🎸
Great lesson
Brilliant as always thank you 👍✅
Amazing lesson, something I completely understand 👏 👌 🙌 👍
Excellent! Thank you.
Great vid.awesome channel
Fantastic !
Great lesson!!
Ahhh man i just learned everything you said we didnt need...lol
Thank you!
Great way to learn the fretboard
So Great, thanks
Also do you have any footage of you playing in a band set, I would love to hear and watch you in a band setting Thank you
Love the tip about finding the key on the second string …how would you do something similar for a minor key please?
For A minor it's the same pattern just go down 2 frets so third finger is playing the A instead of your first finger, or you can go up three frets from where he is playing in the video. Both will be A minor. In this video he starts the A major pentatonic in what is sometimes called the "BB King box", go down two frets to A minor and you are in the "House of Blues"
@@mojoe9096 Wondeful... Thanks for taking the time to reply Mo Joe, really appreciate that.
This is a super-important lesson. Swipe past at your peril! 😄

Great lesson . Q is there a way to get rid of the subtitles ,which annoyingly pop up right on top of the fret board and obscure the visual lesson ,?
good teacher

That would be missing the point and require too much thinking for this concept
Thank You Sir
Thanks, Super!!
Thank You

Awesome!!!!!
click! Thank you!
Brian can this also be applied to a minor key using a different position?
Minor key would be the minor pentatonic- which is the same shape… just move it towards the body of the guitar 3 frets - move everything up 3

Cool kinda what I thaught ,find the key and noodle , sometimes you can hear what works..keep it local 😳🙄🤔☮️😎
totally cool, a great K.I.S.S. lesson, BB paid for his 20 kids knowing this😶
Yes nice
