    Oh my gosh..I used to have this a while back as a 6 or 7 year old and I just hated it! I felt really bad when I'd wake up in the middle of the night with an asthma attack and making my mom assemble this for me so I can go back to sleep without coughing..And now with my asthma symptoms returning, I'm honestly terrified. Thank you mom for sacrificing your sleep to help me breathe.

    Excellent brief AND comprehensive guide especially for new users and/or caregivers, which covers essential basics regardless of any specific unit/kit model. Thoughtful informative tutorial: a simple, succinct, broad and general, as well as thorough and replete contribution. Thank you for your time and sharing your knowledge. Very helpful and much appreciated. :)

    About cleaning...
    I nebulize 0,5 hydrogen peroxide with a little saline twice every single day for almost 2 years now.
    HP is a strong disinfectant, so whatever you nebulize, it is good to clean your nebulizer with mild HP solution from time to time.

    The doc gave me these little packets of saline solution. Little packets, like the packet you put in the top of your medicine cup. How can a little pack of saline solution be used for 5-10 minutes in a nebulizer? Should i just forget about the packs she gave me and use my own distilled water and fill the reservoir up?

So let me reword that: Thnx for the treat! But yeah Thnkx for spending the time to debate this, I feel strongly about it and love studying extra on this topic. If potential, as you grow to be experience, would you mind updating your video with more details? Its extremely useful for me. Big thumb up for this video submit!

      @deanconway5684 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      How often? as needed How Long? Treatments are usually ten minutes or until the mist stops, however I have been on an hour long treatment before (in the ER) Also, if you do not already have an emergency inhaler, you should ask your doctor for an inhaler. You can use the inhaler in between treatments if your symptoms persist or if you are not able to do a treatment at that moment.

    In place of that nebulizer shown in the video, can we use instead electronic cigarette as the delivery mechanism of the medicine to be inhaled through the mouth?
    In a way, its less bulky and very much portable.

    • @BreathePennsylvaniaOrg
      @BreathePennsylvaniaOrg  9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +Swiper Fox No, you could not use an e-cigarette in place of a nebulizer. Nebulizers are specifically designed for this medical purpose, where as e-cigarettes are not.

    I saw the other Health care providers covering the hole in the end of the mouthpiece. Is that correct? What's the purpose of that hole in the mouthpiece then?

    • @BreathePennsylvaniaOrg
      @BreathePennsylvaniaOrg  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      liza yee The end of the T-piece where the mouthpiece is attached? That hole should not be covered since that’s where you exhale.
      Some kits provide a piece of flexible tubing about 6 inches in length that attaches to the end of the T-piece. That helps save some medication and allows for re-breathing the mist that has deposited there when exhaled. Less waste, more medication to your lungs.
      We hope that helps, Liza!

    So what liquid could I use in my nebulizer I've the the cold really bad I've got a face mask and a t-piece for breathing with and I don't no how much liquid to put in it I need your help if possible thanks ?

    • @BreathePennsylvaniaOrg
      @BreathePennsylvaniaOrg  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +tyson mccormack
      The only liquid you should put in your nebulizer is medication prescribed by your doctor. Sometimes this medication is mixed with normal saline solution (a sterile salt water) or sterile water - NOT tap water. You should not use anything other than what is prescribed for use in your nebulizer. The nebulizer breaks your liquid medication into very small particles, which travel deep in the lungs. When you are nebulizing medication, this action is a good thing.
      For a cold you should be using a vaporizer. The particles will not be as small, but will still give you relief from your congestion. If your cold symptoms don't improve, you should see your doctor.

    Hey, I have a question for you. I pulled out my Nebulizer after not using it for a while (a year or so). I got it to work before, but can't get the tube to connect to the T piece anymore - it just won't. Do I have to get a new piece? I was able to use the piece more than once in the past, so I'm pretty certain I don't have a disposable type of piece.

    When I had this treatment at the doctor's office they said I could inhale through the nose. This video says inhale into the mouth. Who is correct?

    • @elenastella2214
      @elenastella2214 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      both are welcomed. It is good to inhale through the mouth, and before every breath you have to keep your breath for a few seconds. Small children - it is enough to breathe peacefully and slowly through the mouth.
      you can also breathe through your nose. This is good for sinuses. I always combine. You can not make a mistake.

      Essential oils are not supposed to be inhaled. They are oil and all of their components should NOT Be in the lungs.

    • @FrancesEDoyle
      @FrancesEDoyle 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That’s a terrible idea-this is a medical device, not an essential oil diffuser. I have both, and they should never be used for the same purpose. This delivers medication (usually albuterol) directly to your lungs, which you should not do with essential oils.

    Can you use Vicks vapor in a nebulizer I've got the cold really bad

    • @BreathePennsylvaniaOrg
      @BreathePennsylvaniaOrg  8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +tyson mccormack No - Vicks VapoRub is not a liquid so it will not break up into small particles and is not meant to be inhaled into the lungs. However, you could use it in a vaporizer.

    Do you know how to properly use a nebulizer?

    • @BreathePennsylvaniaOrg
      @BreathePennsylvaniaOrg  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, you should not put essential oils into it. The danger is in inhaling the oil directly into your respiratory tract through a nebulizer that is not specifically designed to have oils placed into it. There is also a danger of not cleaning the nebulizer properly, leading to respiratory infections.

    I’m a new user seeking advice. The so each pattern of the presenter did not instill confidence in me. Like many young women, (I know sexist yet true) she ends a number of her statements by raising her voice, as if she is asking a question instead of giving a well advised expert statement. Many young people in our culture use this speech pattern. Yet, It doesn’t work well in a professional setting. Other than this issue, the video was thorough and helpful.

    • @lydiawhitting5406
      @lydiawhitting5406 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Felt her speech is heavy and not easy to hear at one point .. like she has a breathing problem herself. Rather use someone who has very clear form of speech to speak and illustrate.
