  • "We see far less than we think we see." Prof. Neil Theise. The brain as an organ of consciousness and what happens when the tuning changes. What can stem cells tell us about the nature of consciousness? Neil Theise, Professor of Pathology and Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai describes how his research into stem cell behavior has led him to consider consciousness as fundamental to the universe.

Hey 'Selfless' (just below) I second that thought. Prof. Neil is brilliant, and he is transparent in a way that is nothing short of amazing. I can feel the humility in him as he shares what he has learned. Wow. I feel grateful.

Took me 47 years to reach a state as an atheist that I would consider non-duality. Best decision I ever made was looking into Idealism. Bernardo Kastrup, Swami Sarvapriyananda, and many others.
The whole world needs to wake up to the reality of Idealism

Neil is so AMAZING. This persona or sophisticated jumble of cells is practicing Shaivism, but to see the existence and connection broken down scientifically in this way is like ecstasy. How beautiful ❤❤❤

    This was a WONDERFUL lecture!
I especially like how he says, "I'm happier both as a pathologist and as a scientist with theories that can allow for creativity and flexibility of response and those that lead to having to reject parts of the world as not being seen because otherwise the hypothesis is challenged, I find that to be not scientific...and not fun." Awesome!

Read “Vertical Causation: The End of Quantum Reality” by Wolfgang Smith. This work is a very important explication of what quantum physics is telling us about humanity and the cosmos.

Self organisation is the cure for depression
You dont have to clean your room it will be cleaned by itself if you become organized.Everytime you go out take something with you for example.
Its working magical you will gain the moment finding out that it's so easy.
You have to stop yourself, don't be so excited stick to your plan

Is “self organizing “ just another way of saying having conscience .

I thought the same. Apparently the cells do not organise themselves in a chaotic way, they use a DNA blueprint, divide, live, die and replace themselves. If the word 'self' is involved in describing a certain process, that means consciousness is in place.

Everything is Conscious, in some way, at some level. We as humans still have an egocentric idea of Consciousness. The self-organizing happens at the Planck scale and has the same structure from that level to the levels we see and experience... Sentience is not the same as Consciousness, and he (and everyone else), has no idea what the flagella is thinking)...

I got stuck on the notion that one cell organism having a 'mind'.

    • @alequaranta
      @alequaranta 3 ปีที่แล้ว

I think that in this context mind shouldn't be seen as a synonim of "awareness", rather as a feature of a living system which interacts to a certain degree with the environment it is in.

Theise uses his intellect to infer that self organisation arises from processes that 'somehow' arise out of cells interacting with one another. 'Somehow' is not necessarily a very scientific answer or explanation! It seems that a top - down explanation can provide detail of an intelligence via cellular coding, rather than a bottom -up explanation which must, by definition, determine the origin of 'somehow'?

Tired of wasting time with click bait titles and no science content. No need for definition of consciousness??

Lame video. I don't care how he feels about religion. I don't care how he feels about God. This guy has to tell a bad story because the truth isnt welcome. Everyone is the universe. Humans are the universe realizing itself. What created us is still creating us. Has never stopped creating us.
This video is lame af in so many ways

Yeah... just noticed your dismissive “scientist”... too bad you gave him his diploma, and now, see how badly behaved he’s become.
Now, seriously, systems sciences and self-organization are too tough notions for you to get، right?
