You should cross chain so it spreads the chain out and apply it at the cassette, and shake the bottle really good otherwise it will be too runny...the Silca TH-cam guy said to do these steps. Once you shake the bottle it will thicken the wax, if the wax isn't thick then it won't stick well.
Thanks for the comment, yes I did run it up and down the cassette a few times more off camera to cross chain it some more. I also shook the bottle really well before both the initial and second application I did, both were about the same thickness (not very). However I have realised it's also temp related, it had been in the house so was warm, since then I've done a reapplication and it was left in the garage and it was much thicker!
Thanks for making this video, Mike. Couple of clarification questions, Firstly, you applied the cleaner to the outside of the chain and the the wax drip to the inside. Is that from Silca's instructions, or your experience? Secondly, when it comes to re-applying (top up) the wax after 200/300 km of riding, how do you clean the chain? Just a simple degrease chain bath? Thanks
This is so much more work than immersion waxing in a crock pot and immersion waxing gives such a better result. Just go full immersion waxing running two or more chains alternating and never go back.
Any long term views on the Silca Super Secret lupe? Much appreciate any feedback if you believe it is worth the higher price compared to other lupes. Many Thanks
Cheers mate and happy New Year 🎊👍☺️, This was a good one, very informative video.. I will give this same kit a try, thanks 👍. Stay safe and have a good one, cheers from Denmark 😊👋..

is it working good for you, happy with the product?@@MikeJenicCycling
@@MikeJenicCyclingyou can put a bolt or small ball bearing inside the bottle of the wax for easy shaking.
@@pinoyxbox Great tip!
you should watch the video. he mentions shaking it a lot.
I’ve tried the Silca, Squirt and Effetto flower power waxes and I like the Effetto the best of the 3.

Cheers Harry, I've just got back from a 2 week trip this weekend with the bike, going to film a something this week hopefully!
In this 2 week of riding it , did you re-apply the lube? Secondly can you also please comment on procedure to re-apply after riding in rain ?

Do you need to degrease the cassette and two rings on the crank as well?
From what I learned you can reuse the chain cleaner. Up to 5 times or something.
