It's crazy I live in the town right next to Pulaski, I went to college in Oswego, and I have only ever fished the Salmon River two times. once for salmon and then I did a guided drift boat for steelhead. I guess i just took it for granted. I now have 1/2 mile of the Little Salmon River all to myself, looks like I need tie some of your flies and get out there

Nice work. Way to keep at it in the cold! Been there done that! One thing I recommend is to try to walk with the fish if you can and don't be afraid to move so they stay up river. I learned a lot from the guides! Tight lines!
Thanks for the tips! Yeah I lost a lot of fish because I’m not use to fighting fish that big. There were plenty I probably should have chased. Reviewing the footage has really helped me learn from my mistakes
Yes salmon river is 30 minutes before sunrise, 30 minutes after. For anyone wondering! It gets pretty packed too so people will get to their spot super early and camp out eat a little breakfast or whatever.
@@MainelyOutDoors you can pick out a spot like you did in this video depending where you go. If you’re interested I have a few spots that used to be somewhat on the down low.

Yes we did only fishing it for a few hours though with out much luck. only one hook up I think. I was hitting a-lot of snags so decided to stick to what we knew for the last few days.
I would hate to spend all that time and early morning wake ups to go fish somewhere with 300 other people within shouting distance. Is it really worth it? Going to be spending some time in upstate new york later this year.
I'm sure there are but its not a place I was familiar with. I had fun but much like you I like having a river to my self. I typically do here in Maine but things are a bit different down there
Nice trip! Love the salmon river but the crowds get frustrating. You did the right thing, most people stay within 100 yards of a parking spot. A little walking can find you some space. Also worth looking into the other tribs in the area.
