Good summary and thanks Mark. Agree that Sittiti was amazing and has a great future.
With regards to the bench - I believe they were solid and effective. Tosi, Tamaiti, McKenzie, Jacobsen, Tuipolotu, Ratima and Aumua all made a difference when they came on. Best impact off the bench in a while..

It is pleasing to note some steady growth in the ABs. We knew that, at some point the ABs will turn the corner. I think winning or losing, isn't much of a point, but the quality of the game that counts. ABs are in a building phase, and the Aussies as well, Joe is doing great work.....👍! The Australian team isn't done yet!

Hi Mark, a bit of AB magic. With BB on 10 and Jordan on 15, like I have said all along, will deliver results. And the bench came on earlier and the AB broke the Wellington and last 20 minutes voodoo. Impressed with the Wallaby growth. Some areas to polish and they will be an acomplished side again.

Great work Mark massive committment getting this video uploaded given its the hour of the wolf for you. My take on the test:
Wallabies Pros: Building towards the long term and showing hope for the future which hasn't been felt in recent years esp when Eddie was the coach. Schmidt doing a great job. Great set piece, brave defence and innovative attack.
Wallabies Cons: Finishing and ball security.
All Blacks Pros: Clarke, Setiti, Vaa'i and Williams. They were simply brilliant. Jordan's locked that fullback jersey; its his.
All Blacks Cons: Early penalties conceeded and getting pushed around when defending but the final quarter they adjusted and defended well.

Was lucky enough to be at the game and for me it’s clear that Barrett is the better fit at 10 with dmac on the bench and Jordan at fullback. Beginning to think some New Zealand rugby fans have no idea what they’re talking about and just hate Beauden Barrett because he isn’t Dan Carter. Barrett was great today but for some reason people are way to critical of him if he doesn’t have a perfect game. The backline looked way better with him running the show with excellent passing. DMac looked more comfortable when he comes on as a secondary ball handler and runner. I’m glad we’re finally seeing changes for this team. Ratima should be starting and Ioane should be on the bench.

@@spottersworld3135 and bb is on last games performance? his stats are shocking, yes he did the basics ok, was fairly calm but no running, some avg kicking to no one, fumbled the ball that the ausies nearly scored off, penalty touch finder kept in, next penalty shanked sideways for 5 metre gain 15 metres out, missed conversion and a tackle or 2, and was pretty soft in his other cou-Le of attempts. Dmac ain’t been perfect either but he’s made metres and at least makes it exciting to watch again, the 12/13 combo outside him has meant he’s had to try create everything from 10 against some tough defence. but every news article or opinion peace is crying for BB to be back in the saddle at 10. No line breaks… he used to be the highlight reel darling, and a fav of mine till the rush defence was perfected. Would have rather seen Plumbs have a run, or someone else if a boring traditional 10 is what’s wanted.. Ratima, Plummer

      Jordan
      Bench (5-3)
      Aumua/Bell, Tosi, Williams, Tuipolotu, Papalii
      Roigard/Hotham*, DMac and Jordie
BB & DMac are interchangeable in their 10/15 positions but BB would rather be at 10. DMac always been a 15 in my eyes.
Jordie comes in at 12. However, I’d rest BB for EOYT because he will always be a class player. In his stead bring in McLeod, Fihaki, Love.
Scrum halves: Ratima, Roigard and Hotham - ALL 3 have different types of game but both provide quick ball. Ireland & France game: Roigard and Ratima; Roigard and Hotham I think Scotland and Japan.
If Taukeiaho is healthy then starting hooker. Rest Taylor for EOYT, maybe play him Irish game. There is some nice depth building but Razor needs to play and shuffle a few players around in the match against Japan.

Jordan and Barrett combined well and I think it showed a more stable rather than flashy 10 suits this team. Giving it to the forwards to make ground as Barrett was and then releasing the backs after ground was made worked alot better than the game McKenzie tried to play. Still not impressed by Reece. If Jordan is to stay at 15 then Robertson needs to try Narawa or others on that side. He needed to have used Procter off the bench so he could put him into a starting side in my opinion and Sititi has shown he is the answer at 6. We have 8's throughout NZ who can take that position but no 6's. Blackadder is good from the lineout point of view but he has no penetration and he is not dominant enough round the breakdown. Now Sam Cane has probably gone we are looking more at a 7 such as Lakai or Savea. If Savea goes there then we need a ball player to complement them. Robertson needs to swallow his pride and go to Sotutu. He is the obvious choice.

Cheers Mark. Mostly agree. I'm unconvinced nz has a starting test level 10 in the squad (and even in the country). I'm more convinced tuipulotu/vaai to start, with a Blackadder 6, Savea 7, Sititi 8 back row. Scott Barrett, who I'm a fan of, has had an off year. Injured during SRP, possibly still unfit? Cane, great servant but reckon he's lost a step. It seemed our breakdown is still being targeted by opponents, and i don't think that's a selection issue. The players are good enough.
ALB did a lot, Proctor neeeeeeeds an opportunity. Unsure what he has to do. Very happy with our outside backs stocks. Jordan at 15 😉
Oz seems an extremely well coached team playing above themselves. More experience and consistent selection and they'll be pushing the top 5. They're progessing with their scrum, lineout and kickoff reception (k/off recptn could only improve). Unsure they'll be doing so this season tho

Blackadder is not an international 6. Name me a player better than Sititi at 6? If Savea goes to 7 then we need Sotutu or Iose at 8. Sotutu would complement the other 2 better but it's a matter of Robertson admitting he's wrong and selecting him. On previous experience I can't see him doing that and he doesn't have a voice to give opinions now as assistants are just yes men.

    • @Thudsrayz
      @Thudsrayz หลายเดือนก่อน +1

@@markreilly105 Sititi looks like the makings of a generational player, similar to zinzan Brooke. That is, the selection policy is simply to get him on the field any way possible, which might mean 6 for now. I personally don't want him tied up in tight defensive works that a 6 is often drawn into, even tho he can certainly do the job. I want him carrying off the back of scrums and linking with the backline. Of the players in the current squad, Blackadder is extremely capable of mixing the tight stuff, long periods of defence, and doing the dirty work shifting bodies at rucks. Imo, Sotutu and Sititi are competing for the same role, classic NZ no8 work, and Sititi is first pick. So I guess I disagree that Sotutu complements Savea and Sititi. I reckon they'd trip over each other. That's just my theory tho

Rieko Edward Ioane. Ioane has attacking skill but needs a better kick. A good coach can make a solid defensive centre, but no coach can manufacture a Frank Bunce without some intrinsic DNA assistance (meaning from childhood the dude needs to have learned the importance of never missing a tackle). So for me, Ioane is on the wing or gets the fling.

I feel for Razor (even though Im a Bok fan) as its tough to mix building depth and getting results as a new coach! But just looking at a guy like Wallace Sititi and how well he has done when given a chance.. and a guy like Ratima, Id have been encouraged to blood a few new players across the tournament, especially looking at a guy like Plummer or Ruben Love.. if theyre in the squad it would be great to give them more of a chance. That try before HT after the wallabies retook the lead was old school typical ABs. The Wallabies never really recovered from that. No 2nd half revival this week. Im not sure what to think of Wallabies so far under JS. Look better than Eddie but seem no better than Dave Rennie in my view.

    Gotta love Cancun!
Thoughts… WJ is a great player, he’s a little restricted when playing on the wing as at fullback he has better vision of the game and this is his preferred position.
DMac can be impatient at times and he’s the kind of player that is great at impact when he is patient (off the bench)
Plummer would be amazing with some ease into the team and would be my preferred, after Richie.
Cane has experience, but seems to miss on the big moments.
Wallace is the next best thing!
The midfield needs Billie and Jordie, Billie will elevate Jordie.
It is clear there are some hangover from Fozzie and the team is still growing. They need time together on the field as Fozzie’s over experimentation with players playing out of position and changing teams every week has hurt the ABs.
Like your analysis of the games and teams, you present clear and precise.

Cane will be invaluable on Northern Tour Im picking
      Wallace.......so far, so great
On Billy yes, not hot on Jordie still. Maybe Ireland will take him and we can have Bundee Aki :-)

Yes definite improvements. Still concerned that there is no methodical approach to creating a continuous buildup towards a score. Almost all points come from broken play counter attacks. Whilst its great the ABs have the ability to conjure up a try, against better teams learning how to continue set phase play after play and pressure teams repeatedly is something i havent seen yet and will be very necessary come northern tour where teams have better defensive screens and its needed to break them down. Also no set piece play plans, just tap and barge. Missing some attacking plays or ideas. Lineout improved markedly. Sotiti and Tupo vai look finds of the season, esp sotiti.

It's difficult to pinpoint our team's playing style. Our strategy isn't clear. We do seek space out wide, but so does every team. It's difficult to judge us on these two tests against the Wallabies. They're at a low ebb so we should be cautious about blowing our trumpets. 2.HB. Time tyo go with Hotham, Cortez and Roigard for the tour. TJ makes too many mistakes.

Sititti and Jordan were brilliant and Dmack when he came on made an impact. Encouraging signs but how will they cope against the likes of Ireland, England and France in November?
I don't think either of those 3 teams will ever underestimate them but they won't be too nervous either. Let's wait and see.
As for Australia, they put in a good shift but again were unable to put in an 80 minute performance. Joe Schmidt is doing a good job though. It's going to take a wee bit more time and patience but there's definitely green shoots sprouting which is good to see. They'll get there.

I particularly thought tosi was outstanding especially over the ball - he got 2 or 3 big turnovers and was having a really strong overall game and impact! I thought this was the only game so far, apart from Fiji, that we could’ve given minutes to some of Love/Procter/ Bell/ Hotham but don’t criticize them looking for selection continuity, cos the team hasn’t been gelling like it did today.
    Good step up both teams.
TJ past his best, hopefully Roigard back for NH
Still think our coaches should ban box kick from base - unless it’s for the line.
Ban high kick down the middle to hand also - both teams conceded tries to these pointless, giveaway possession kicks.
We’ll need to defend high kicks in NH but our dna expansive play needs possession, not the kicking away of it. We gotta aim to impose our running game off the 2 running 10’s we have and was so effective today.
Our young forward pack should become ever more dominant over this WC cycle = more set piece dominance, mobility to breakdown /support play and go forward platform for backs to run off to come.
We’ match up to NH packs now but will have to match up in discipline v their defences.
This is a much better AB’s than lost to Pumas, the whole group is evolving.
Vaii, Blackadder, Sititi have been huge emerging forces and Taylor’s mobility and positioning creates a lot. They don’t rate Papalii, need to get Lakai in for NH then.

TJ made at least 5 errors but also needs to go and time for Sam Cane to let the new guys in 6 blackadder, 7 Ardie 8 Satiti is lethal.
