Agree. One life is not enough to read and understand the entire Valmiki Ramayana, which consists of 24024 slokas. Even Kamba Ramayana is as vast as Valmiki Ramayana with a more poetic style. Bhartvarsh epic is vast and is a research material for many lives.
Sri Dushyanth Sridhar is really a gifted. What a sound knowledge; commentary of words; with a flow of language; linking ithihasa and puranas with high order; smartly taking references from various resources; with his brilliant memory; excellent summarising for the question asked. Great Applause for his dedication, hard work, very apt to the latest generation to spread the values of the sanadhana dharma. But, surprisingly many give ugly comments without evaluating honestly. I respect Dushyant-ji. But he should realize the impact of his words and promote unity amongst Hindus. In his narration of Agrepashyami, he was a tad condescending of Lord Shiva, which sadly reveals his pettiness. Fact is, he or any vedic scholars will never equal the level of knowledge of the Vedic Trinity Gods and Goddesses. It is best to know this and be humble. Humans should not cause division when Gods themselves are united.
I am Dr. Basanti Devi, a linguist by profession( retired from service now). I have found this discussion very enlightening. I have already listened to Mr Dushyanth Sridhar's talks on Ramayana several times. I possess a copy of his Ramayanam Vol I and have enjoyed reading it. But I feel sad to notice that The Assamese Ramayana composed by Madhava Kandali in the fourteenth century does not find a place in the discussions. This Ramayana is much older than Tulsidas's Ramayana. ''Madhava Kandali's Ramayana is not just a literal translation of Valmiki text but a broadly faithful version of it, with several abridgements, embellishments and omissions'( Tilottama Misra in Sita's Voice in the Assamese Ramayana) Somehow, Indian scholars do not mention this version of Ramayana but several western scholars have discussed it( for example Sheldon Pollock in his book The Language of the Gods in the World of Men:Sanskrit,Culture and Power in Premodern India)
Please avoid taking anymore interview with Dhusyanth . He has only half knowledge. Brahmam is only one as per our Sanadana dharma. But he differentiates even Vadakalai and Thenjalai. Sri Madhwacharya quoted existance of Moola Ramayana. He wrote tatparya on Ramayana also in his Mahabharat Tatparya Nirnaya (MBTN). Sri Narayana Panditachrya wrote Sangraha Ramayana.

The problem with homo sapiens is that Intellectuals want to leave their mark b4 they go for posterity name and fame and each one will come up with his own interpretations and fiercely defend it and demean other interpretations out of EGO. In fact some have gone on to insert interpolations and deletions in our ancient literature due to maybe various social politiical reasons during their lifetime. Another major problem is Indian Sanskrit Scholars have failed to translate Sanskrit Literature into local languages or into English so Indians have to depend on phoren scholars for translations who do not have the grounding and cultural background to translate Sanskrit.

There are multiple version of Ramayana. Ayodhya Kingdom in the North, Kiskindha Kingdom of the South, Lanka etc were all real places. Even the Ancient Bridge which connects the Southern Tip of Bharat to the Northern Tip of Lanka is real. An Islamic historian who showed up in Bharat around 1200 A.D called it the “Adam’s Bridge” without knowing about it’s TRUE History.
Madhwacharya doesn’t expressly recognise Valmiki Ramayana, neither he denies it. However He specifically quotes Moola Ramayana which is was a grantha of 1 crores shlokas.

Kamba Ramayana is after 1200 BCE , 800 years at the most and not 1200 years old. Manipravaalam is not judicial combination but an adultery of Sanskrit with Tamil by Vaishnavites. There is no need for comparison if u read Rajaji on Valmiki and Kambar.
Sir, Srimad Ramayana is an Iti-ha-sa (It thus happened) written in Samskrut. It’s a biography, written by Valmiki during his lifetime. It is, therefore, the original and authentic version and the rest of all the Ramayana’s are called Kavya or poetry in Samskrut. The poetry being a subjective work, the poet is allowed the liberty to deviate from the original work or text and give a different version of the personalities and events based on his/her feelings, thoughts and perception.
Ramayana is mentioned in the Mahabharat which happened thousands of years after the Pre-Historic War in Lanka. So the Ramayana War is WAY older than the Mahabharat. It happened in the Treta Yuga. Valmiki Ramayana (minus 15th sarga and some shlokas in 16th sarga and entire Uttarakanda) is the correct version of Ramayana . It is my personal opinion.
As per our sastras, satya yuga lasts 1728000 years, treta yuga is about 1296000 years, dwapara yuga is about 864000 years and kaliyuga is about 432000 years and we are only 5000 years into kaliyuga. Our sastaras indicate Ramayana happened in treta yuga which is atleast two yugas before kaliyua. That being the case how can one state ramayana is only 5000 years old. I think we are trying too hard to fit our sastras into western narrative of time. While research into our sastras are always welcome, one should be cognizant of the timescale and subtle need to fit into our current understanding of time and space.
There is one lady Molla in telugu wrote Ramayana. Akin to Godadevi, but never revered for her caste. The vasanas of Rakshasas are so strong in Southern Brahmins, they come out with a proverb in telugu, the monkey that spoiled itself destroyed the garden.
Sage Valmiki's Srimad Ramayana and Bhagavad Veda Vyasa's Mahabharata are absolute truths, most authentic, original and ultimate. No arguments about that.

As per our sastras, satya yuga lasts 1728000 years, treta yuga is about 1296000 years, dwapara yuga is about 864000 years and kaliyuga is about 432000 years and we are only 5000 years into kaliyuga. Our sastaras indicate Ramayana happened in treta yuga which is atleast two yugas before kaliyua. That being the case how can one state ramayana is only 5000 years old. I think we are trying too hard to fit our sastras into western narrative of time.
While research into our sastras are always welcome, one should be cognizant of the timescale and subtle need to fit into our current understanding of time and space.

As Mr Dushyant told. Sri Valmiki Ramayana is authentic. Sri Narada maharshi breifly told Valmiki who later wrote elaborately is about 24000 slokas.

Liberandus don't even know their own ancestral history. They think their history began after Christianity, Islam and Communism was introduced to them. Christianity was formed 2000 years ago. Islam was formed 1400 years ago and Communism was formed 120 years ago. Ramayana is thousands of years older than all of them.

The original Ramayana occurance narrated by Maharshi Valmiki, ends when Shree Ram and Sita returns to Ayodhya after defeating Ravan. All the incidents that are included after this are fake narratives which were inserted to insult Sanathana Dharma.
