  • I went to the Kyoto Railway Museum. Popular trains that were once active in Japan are on display. Train enthusiasts will be thrilled. There are also interactive sections where you can experience things like skeleton ticket gates, making it a fun place even for those who aren't particularly fond of trains. Be sure to check out the video.
    Prices are at time of shooting.

    The railway system in Japan is absolutely fascinating. In Texas we have almost no form of public transportation at all. These vast connected systems of highly sophisticated and impressive trains are astonishing. I hope to be able to ride some through various Japan prefectures in my future. Thank you for sharing!

    • @is_c
      @is_c 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      We too but I hope that it will be there in the future because the streets are full of cars and jams even taxi prices are expensive because of the increase

      I'm glad you find the Japanese railway system fascinating! It's a stark contrast to Texas, indeed. I hope you get to experience it firsthand someday. Which prefecture are you most interested in visiting? Thanks for watching!

      @experience_japan My wife and I both have deep desires to visit, and plan on doing so when our children are a little bit older and we spend more time to study the language further.
      The prefectures I desire to visit the most would by Kyoto, Osaka, Niigata, and of course Tokyo. Kyoto seems absolutely beautiful.

    I'm very interested in the history of transport, so I'll definitely be checking this museum out one day! Something that I tend to notice (and I'd imagine quite a few people will too) when visiting museums with large vehicles is that I think I tend to underestimate just how large things are, so seeing the machines in person always feels extra impressive :) As a fun fact about the 0 series Shinkansen, outside Japan there's only one place in the world which has one, the National Rail Museum up in York, a good 4 or 5 hour's drive from where I am down near London. It was gifted to the museum by JR West in the late-1990's, and the NRM staff have done a great job restoring it to being as good as new - I'd definitely like to go there one day, too!

    I love trains but have never rode one ever. I could tell that this was bringing back memories for you, remembering the good old day's. I would have been on every train there. Why didn't the shop sell train sets of different train types? I bought Hello Kitty for sure and more. When I was young it was the train Whistle and those wheels on the tracks, those sounds made me happy. Thank you for bringing back good memories. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

    Do you remember the Romance Train. We called that train the Love train & once a bunch of us female soldiers (in off duty clothes as we didn't want to be spit on). We went to Mt, Fuji. Was a beautiful ride & the apple trees were all in bloom. Especially in Tokyo when the beautiful parks with the Cherry Trees in bloom. My favorite time of the year while in Japan.

    I liked this video a lot. Great idea to go to the railway museum. I bet there are a lot pf people who are envious of there model train set up. I'm sure a lot of the trains had to be hand made, like the Sunrise Express.

    I have been to Kyoto. Especially the park where the deer bow for deer treats which one can buy from vendors within the park. Of course that was about 48 years agp approximately. Was on a tour from Tokyo via bullet train to Kyoto, Spent a week there touring all the special places. Nara Park was where the deer bowed for deer snacks. Such a long time. Very different now.

    Great video. I enjoy trains from all over the world. We have a lot of train museums here. A lot of big freight steam engines. Some were also used for passenger service but now all we have is Amtrak. Nothing like what the rest of the world has. But I enjoy steam engines. They are great pieces of hand built machinery. I have models of a lot of them that o run every so often. Thanks for the trip though the museum.

      I have a modest collection. Here in America it’s pretty common to have a train under the Christmas tree. We always had one from the time I can remember. I still have my dad’s train from the 1950’s. I’ve always love the mechanical engineering of steam engines and the power they produce with just basically boiling water. As for my hobby I’ve worked parting at a hobby shop here where I race 1/24 scale slot cars and I did train repairs for customers. I haven’t done repairs in a while. It’s kinda tough with working a regular job and a family. But I still have my trains. I also started getting back to building models. I’m a huge Star Wars fan and I have a bunch of Bandai models to build. Sorry for the long reply. I enjoys hobbies. Would love to go over to Japan and go through as many hobby shops as I could. Lol. I’ve seen a lot of videos of them and they look awesome.

Foamer is an old American term for someone so excited about trains that they "foam at the mouth" over anything trian-related, and they have a tremendous amount of train knowledge! I certainly learn a lot from your train journeys. And the trains are so pristine, it makes me happy and satisfied. 😊

    nah, those are average windows in trains
    10:20
    bro forgot to press the dead-man's pedal(you must press it in all times to operate the train, or else it will emergency break)
    and also, the one on the right is acceleration (marked by steps)
    and the one on left are breaks, those breaks are useful for preparing the train, as you must have some air pressure inside first in order to operate the train

    I have a question, and I'm not sure if you saw this information at the Museum.
    It's a well-known fact that Western Europe and Russia have different width of their railways. It was built intentionally by one of Russian Emperors, and in time slowed down Hitler's approach into the USSR during WWII. Is there a difference between railway width between Japan and Europe or Russia? Do you have your own standard or do you build railways similar to some other countries? Sorry, it's a weird question, but I got curious.

    • @experience_japan
      @experience_japan  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That’s an insightful question! Yes, Japan uses a different railway gauge compared to most of Western Europe and Russia. Japan primarily uses the 1,067 mm gauge, which is different from the standard gauge (1,435 mm) in Europe and the broad gauge (1,520 mm) in Russia. It’s fascinating how railway standards can impact history and logistics!

    • @CammyWINS
      @CammyWINS 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@experience_japan i wonder why your railways are narrower?! Due to lack of space? I know that Japanese Shinkansen have different “noses” compared to the other countries that have them, like China, for example, due to being used in heavily populated areas & lessen impact on the surroundings when it’s flying by.
      Btw, when I travelled to Central Europe by train, we had to wait 6 hrs in Poland for train to be recalibrated to travel in Europe. Luckily, we could visit the city while we waited

      @experience_japan  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      British engineers led the construction of railways in Japan during the Meiji era. The British engineer thought that a narrow-gauge railway was advantageous because it was inexpensive and would enable "rapid construction of railways in Japan, where there are many mountainous areas". As a result, the construction of Japanese railways is said to have proceeded on a 1067 mm gauge.
