I have been racking my brain on how to do this for a minute love the video thank you for your video very well spoken and easy to follow and do my self like literally the first time and I followed your steps ‼️‼️‼️
Hi there! Enjoying the tutorials! Thank you for the knowledge you impart. Much appreciated. I have a question to pose. Why did you, in the first example of your nephew, use Tune Image/Saturation to convert the photo to B&W; and in your second example, of the road, convert the image to B&W with the B&W filter? Would like to understand the difference by clarification from you? Is the filter stronger because it has filter options? Thank you, in advance, for your time, attention and response relative to this issue!
Good question! In the first example, I desaturated the image to make it a black and white because moving a single slider (Saturation) is so fast and easy. In this case that move alone produced a pleasing enough starting point for the overall image. In the second example though, with the road, simply desaturating the image would have produced a weaker black and white starting point for the Color Splash effect. The added controls in the B&W filter are very helpful in this kind of scene where I want part of the image to become darker and part to become lighter when it shifts from color to black and white.
Oh yeah! May I ask another question? I emailed Focus Photo School, September 25, however I haven’t received a response. So, maybe you can answer since you are an instructor. I came across a link to the school’s website, which detailed the courses and the price, now at $10/mo. However, the listing of the price was on the Lightroom page. I also noticed that you receive all access. Does that mean I have access to all the courses that are offered. Thanks again for an rsvp! Have a good one! Stay healthy! Keep imparting your expertise!
Dear Cynthia Whatley, I send you an email a few days ago but since it seems to have gone missing I have copied and pasted my reply below: Thank you for your interest in my video tutorials and for following me on TH-cam. If you subscribe at my website then you get unlimited access to all of my content. “Unlimited” here means access to all of my Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Classic, Adobe Photoshop, and Snapseed from Google Tutorials. I also offer all of my Snapseed tutorials as a separate one-time purchase since I recognize that the audience for Lightroom / Photoshop content often differs. If you have any other questions or need any help with either a subscription or a one time purchase please let me know. -David Marx

Some use the word ‘oligochrome’ to describe the ‘color splash effect’
You learn something new everyday. I had not heard that term before for this part black and white look. Thanks for teaching me something new!
