My Baby is een piepjong bandje uit Amsterdam en bestaat uit Cato van Dijck (zang en gitaar), Daniel de Vries (gitaar) en Joost van Dijck (drums en zang). Dit trio presenteert volgens insiders “een hypnotiserend en ultraheet brouwsel van blues, gospel, funk en soul, met een scheutje voodoo “.
Vorig jaar (nog voor er maar een debuutalbum in zicht was) ontdekte bassist Larry Graham (van Sly & The Family Stone) de groep al en nam ze meteen mee op sleeptouw voor zijn concerttour. Ze traden toen samen nog op in De Wereld Draait Door, en maakten daarmee flink indruk . My Baby maakt naar eigen zeggen “Delta trance Louisiana dub indie funk”. Dit valt best goed samen te vatten met: bluesrock. Maar dan wel zompig à la Seasick Steve en The Black Keys. Toeval? Nee in april toert de groep als support act van onze Seasick Steve in Engeland. Het is maar dat je het weet.

Brilliant trance blues outfit, best ive seen and heard in years, although a relatively young band they sound and play like they were spirited here from the early seventies and their songwriting is superlative...they are a welcomed breath of fresh air on the music scene in what had become a bit stale...Oh, and I love Cato's unorthodox style of rhythm/Bass playing and what a voice!......Welcome to MY BABY.
