In the late 1970s, a rock radio station in Houston switched to disco, so the last DJ on the rock station played "Rebel Rebel" ten times in a row as his final stiff-fingered gesture to the owners.

My mom was a huge Bowie fan. I can remember her playing this at top volume, while I danced around the livingroom, singing along at the top of my lungs. It was 1976, I was 3 years old, I had no idea what I was singing, but it felt great.
Bowie's been a guardian angel, and an icon for me ever since.

basically every nerdy kid's dreams and thoughts were amplified through bowie's lyrics. The feeling of being fabulous, of going to space, of being in strange relationships, of being alone, of being amped, of crushing on the rebel girl resonated hard with bowie's audience. Miss ya buddy.

Gally Yeah you said it. It’s on my mind every time I listen to him. I seriously love the man. He’s my god and he’s done a a hell of a lot more than anyone else has. He’s been with my through all of my toughest times, even dealing with my father, the guy who introduced me to DB, he’s been my hero. I remember biking home (and this wasn’t all too long ago I’m in high school) and I listened to everything on the ride home. I love the hearts filthy lesson. It is a great song song for listening while out and about, and there’s something strangely magical to it during the winter time, really.

As I’m turning 57 on 1/23 , and I was scanning some DB videos after watching a documentary last night . Naturally I had to hear Rebel & D Dogs . Then here it is . One matttha Fawwwkin duuuizy of a remark . Classy and full of zest and real ness. Written like a scholar. Thanks a ton for it . Go live a little , and remember like Keef Always says.?? Hot tramp, I love you so
    Don't 'ya?
You've torn your dress, your face is a mess
You can't get enough, but enough ain't the test
You've got your transmission and your live wire
You got your cue line and a handful of ludes
You wanna be there when they count up the dudes
    And I love your dress
    You're a juvenile success
Because your face is a mess
    (Rebel, rebel)
    So how could they know?
I said, how could they know?
    (Rebel, rebel)
    So what you wanna know?
Calamity's child, chi, cha, chi, cha
    (Rebel, rebel)
    Where'd you wanna go?
What can I do for you?
Looks like you've been there too
    'Cause you've torn your dress
    (Rebel, rebel)
And your face is a mess
Oh, your face is a mess
    (Rebel, rebel)
Oh, oh, so how could they know?

So the Monday after reading about the death of David Bowie I read Sammy Hagar (The Red Rocker) as he spoke about how David had influenced him so much and he really wished that he had met him. …So I replied to Sammy that “You did Sammy, you have met him, as once you hear David Bowie and he enters your soul, you know him and you will never be the same again, ever! ....I then mentioned how strange it is that when there is someone you've never met before passes, you can still feel such a loss. ….David stayed up with me many a lonely night over the last 45 years - making my bad days better - my nights brighter, all while making me a better musician. ...What a talent. - What a career. - What a loss. - What a soul and thank you for sharing it and thanks for touching mine. -J.D.Gragg
ps: We all know there is a footprint on the Moon - now we know there is one on Mars, David Bowie's. 1/8/1947 - 1/10/2016

+JD Gragg Thank you JD, I love your words and there's a comfort in sharing the loss - the strangeness for me is to feel the loss so acutely, but at the same time to feel so alive as I relive every moment of inspiration through his music... but that's David's gift to us all.

Laura He was. From writing music - playing it - producing it and having other genius musicians being pushed further by him into musical manipulation that they thought would never work, and once David was done with it they were amazed. .....Then his movie career, nothing long but about one every 10 years and then his performance on Broadway playing the Elephant Man and the critics raved over him. He did this without any special effects - he would actually contort his body to the point they kept a doctor on scene at all times. ......He was extraordinary in every way.
....I now say Ziggy Stardust born 1/8/1947 - Blackstar was born 1/10/2016
PS: Thank you for such meaningful and kind compliment.

RIP. Your music is such a huge part of my life these 19 years I've been around. It's because of you and other legends that are gone like Lennon and Presley that I've picked up instruments. Your music will always be apart of my life, thank you for what you have done. I will be jamming to the rise and fall of ziggy stardust all night in your memory :)

+Manny Espinoza Yeah I guess you don't really need to have lived your youth in the seventies to share those feelings. It's a very sad day and I can't stop my tears falling, as it was a close relative who died. Is it kind of ridicolousl to write that is a part of my life who died today? Okay, so let's be ridicolous for once.

+Manny Espinoza You're not alone. A huge loss for all of us who believe in the Magic that IS David Bowie. I still can't quite accept this.
