Lyrics
Ah, ah, ah, ah
(Let's dance)
(Let's dance)
(Let's dance)
Put on your red shoes and dance the blues
(Let's dance)
To the song they're playing on the radio
(Let's sway)
While colour lights up your face
(Let's sway)
Sway through the crowd to an empty space
If you say run, I'll run with you
And if you say hide, we'll hide
Because my love for you
Would break my heart in two
If you should fall, into my arms
And tremble like a flower
(Let's dance)
(Let's dance)
(Let's dance)
For fear your grace should fall
(Let's dance)
For fear tonight is all
(Let's sway)
You could look into my eyes
(Let's sway)
Under the moonlight, this serious moonlight
And if you say run, I'll run with you
And if you say hide, we'll hide
Because my love for you
Would break my heart in two
If you should fall, into my arms
And tremble like a flower
(Let's dance)
(Let's dance)
(Let's dance)
Put on your red shoes and dance the blues
(Let's dance)
To the song we're playing
(Let's sway)
(Let's sway)
Under the moonlight, this serious moonlight
(Let's dance)
(Let's)
(Let's)
(Let's)
(Let's dance)
(Let's)
Let's dance, dance, dance, dance, dance, dance, dance, dance
(Let's dance)
(Let's sway)
(Let's sway)
Let's dance, dance, dance, dance, dance, dance, dance, dance
(Let's dance)
(Let's dance)
(Let's dance)

About David Bowie:
David Bowie redefined musical genres and the potential of live performance for generations of music lovers. Creating and discarding a variety of personae and restlessly challenging musical boundaries, Bowie released timeless albums including Space Oddity, Hunky Dory, The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust…, Aladdin Sane, Diamond Dogs, Young Americans, Station to Station, "Heroes,” Let's Dance, Heathen, The Next Day and many more. Blackstar, Bowie’s 28th and final studio album, was released on his 69th birthday, January 8, 2016. David Bowie died on January 10, 2016, two days after the release of Blackstar. His body of work, his influence on the worlds of music, art, fashion, film, theatre and beyond, and his legacy of innovation and reinvention will live forever. 2022 kicks off with Bowie at 75, a celebration of his 75th birthday with the Brilliant Adventure box set, the previously unreleased Toy, the 50th anniversary of Ziggy Stardust and a series of special events.

David Bowie released this masterpiece in 1983. In 2023, this song still rocks!
It is a memory of the US festival when the sun was setting and friendly fires were lit all around the crater. David Bowie began performing this song and people including myself began dancing. I heard somewhere he had arrived from being in Australia, probably true.
It does

RIP David. There will never be another like you.
David Bowie was one of the biggest Humanitarian people you’d ever known, the reason he featured the Aboriginal people in this video was to shine light on them because their Lives Mattered too. David Bowie was against unfair racist mistreatment of fellow human beings. I remember him making MTV to show more black entertainers, and if they didn’t he’d boycott himself. As a black American man I love and respected what David Bowie stood for, may he rest in heaven.

I heard this song growing up as a kid, always loved the song. But this is my first time watching the Video. Awesome work there Mr.Bowie
Not much has changed for Aboriginal Australians. There are more in the workforce but they still have less opportunities than most Australians. Still, small steps I suppose. These days it's not just Aboriginal people, there is a lot of ageism and sexism. More male CEOS than female, more male representation than female in politics, that sort of thing. Australia is like a smaller version of America in some ways. This video was made only 16 years after they were granted citizenship by the way. Good old David, 6 years gone next Monday, R.I.P. great man.

You know this song is 37 years old and it sounds like it was just recorded yesterday. Now that is what music is supposed to sound like.
Still slaps
Steevie Ray Vaughan jump's out in final solo...
I couldn't agree more timeless.
Sadly, it "doesnt sound like it was recorded yesterday" because nowadays they would put way less Delay and reverb on his voice, and everything would be stuck "to the grid" ... Without mentioning pop songs have less riffs and solos 😳 (Let's remember Let's Dance was DB take on mainstream music)
Don't sound like it was recorded yesterday, but still a masterpiece.

David Bowie's voice is like heaven. I appreciate that this video was made in Australia covering the issues of racism and oppression against the aboriginal people's. David Bowie is a true legend in his own right!
And when I watched this video in 1983, I thought that this video was recorded in the USA and was about American indian tribes, and a few years later discovered, that was recorded in Australia and was about the poor aboriginals... really the bad guys were Australians and not the Americans, poor aboriginals oppressed like the American Indians!🤔🤔
@Peter Raja Morgan Very well!!!😊😊😊😊
Peter Raja Morgan exactly what have the government done in the last 10 years to help indigenous people? Oh that's right, we had a prime minister that called their lives a 'lifestyle choice' and have reduced or taken away funding to help aboriginals. You can be both proud of your country and acknowledge that it needs to do better.
@Peter Raja Morgannot really. What's reported in the MSM outlets especially ones owned by Fox News and in the history books does not reflect accurately how badly our government has and still continues to treat the Aboriginal people. The standard response by the government and general public is to "get over it".

I accidentally saw SRV in Louisville literally just before he was killed (late '89 or '90). I had zero interest in either him or "The Blues" as a snotty 19 yr old skater punk kid from SoCal, but fortunately I had an older & much wiser friend who had a friend with xtra tix, so I said "whatever", because of course I did 😂, & went.
I don't use the phrase "I was humbled" lightly or as hyperbole. We were RIDICULOUSLY front & center (maybe 3 rows back? No more than 5), & just **seeing** him play was every bit (if not more, to my uninitiated ears) as mesmerizing as hearing him play. He was 1 of a kind, fersure. I don't think I said 3 words after the show, I just looked like ----> 😳 lol...& then I didn't shut up about it until, well ever, apparently. 😁 RIP King

David Bowie, Nile Rodgers and Stevie Ray Vaughn. What an incredible collaboration. They should have formed a band, would have been one of the greatest bands in history.
Bowie screwed him and Double Trouble and Stevie quit his tour before it started..
@@lifeisacarnival1359 how did he do that?
@@DJDanceClassic There are actually two different versions of what happened in the great book "Texas Flood". In one version, SRV quit; in the other, Bowie fired him. Either could be true; Stevie didn't take a lot of crap from people, and Bowie could be a prima donna asshole.
SRV, Chris Layton and Tommy Shannon all said that once Bowie decided he wanted SRV to play on his upcoming album and Stevie agreed , Bowie immediately asked him to join the tour as Bowie's guitarist.
As part of Stevie being in the tour band, Double Trouble would open a select number of shows. Of course, nothing was ever signed to confirm that, and trusting Bowie, Stevie went ahead and began rehearsals with the tour band.
As the start date for the tour got closer, Layton and Shannon said they received no specific tour dates for them to open for Bowie, and Bowie's people would not return phone calls. Layton and Shannon finally realized it wasn't going to happen.
At some point, Stevie was also told that he was not going to be allowed to mention Double Trouble or his own music in interviews before or during the tour. Fed up, Stevie said he quit the tour as the band was about to board the bus for their first flight; Bowie's camp continued to say he was fired, for what they don't specify. Stevie showed up and played at all album sessions and tour rehearsals.
Stevie is quoted as saying he never intended to be no more than a sideman for Bowie, and that he had an album about to be released to promote on his own. Apparently, he expected that when Double Trouble opened for Bowie, they'd play songs from the album to promote it.
Double Trouble's first album was released shortly before the Bowie tour started, and the band launched a massive tour of their own to promote it. The rest is history.
Thanks. I belive the SRV story
@@DJDanceClassic So do I. S And I highly recommend that book. One of the co-authors wrote the great Allman Bros. book "One Way Out" and the book is packed with interviews from friends and fellow musicians who knew SRV well.
Love David Bowie. Legendary even to this day
Legend ❤🎉
There's just something that makes you feel so nostalgic about David Bowie's music, even if you weren't alive during the time it was first released...
MY Dad genuinely had all his albums growing up, so his music was part of the background of life to me. He's the Hercules Mozart of our time.
Nostalgic indeed!!
Luckily I was alive when David Bowie was around I was in my twenties when he was at his prime and to this day I still listen to his music One of my favorites He is timeless
Oh I was alive for sure. This song would come on in the club (decades ago) and we would jump up and dance our way to the dance floor. Every Thursday, Friday and Saturday night. Sundays were for recuperating. 😂
Totally Agree ... Bowie Fans are ace .. Fantastic ... I love doing his covers on YT ... such a great artist ... its great to connect with his genius
In 1997, I was in the middle of Costa Rica far from any tourist traveled paths & and while we were having lunch in a teeny little diner in a jungle clearing, this song was playing. It's hard to paint the picture of the situation, but at the time it was amazing ~
WOW!
perfect 'Picasso'.been there and you just took me back
awesome! around what city/jungle? I studied in heredia and samara in 2011. I picture the scenery of volcano arenal as I read your post. I miss it. pura vida
Did you meet any Italians by chance?

RIP David Bowie. A true legend!
Up all night working on that one
Absolute legend never see the likes of him again RIP david Marty fennemore.
also rip Stevie Ray Vaughan who did the guitar solo at the end
Maybe he just went back to his home planet..? The guy never seemed to age , had a style no one on earth had ever heard or seen, and Literally outed himself to be a spaceman .. just saying
RIP David Bowie. A true legend!
40 years later and this song grabs me and takes me into the magic world of music. Thank you, David, for the songs and stories that you gave us.
One of the greatest music clips off all time on many levels, primarily giving aboriginal Australians a deserved spotlight, and secondly - it's Bowie.
My late step father was a muso, and proclaimed in the early eighties that D B was way....way...ahead of his times. I agreed then, and I can now see why, ...so much of his music was esoteric, meaningful...etcetra..many levels
You can thank Nile Rogers for this one too
Perché?
The song is about child sacrifice ... The childs blood dripping on their feet to create red shoes... now does it still resonate with you?
‘83. Great year. Being 40 myself, I feel a connection with this masterpiece and brilliant musician ☮️
Timeless masterpiece.
It's unbelievable that such masterpiece has only 8 million views.
Should have millions!!! Great song and forever be 😊
Not a masterpiece.
No, there was an original uploaded here for years by EMI Music that had 87 million views.
@@Vomrom a fucking masterpiece
masterpiece? Plain pop song
My parrot goes crazy when he hears this song!😂😂
iirante that bird, main one 👍💞
I think we all nod Our heads to this .Ure parrot got the beat lol great
One of the best song ever made !
Happy Friday lets dance
It's funny that when this album came out critics accused Bowie of selling out. The man knew good music and was never afraid to experiment. A true musical icon. All of his songs are timeless!
If the critics accuse you of selling out, you know you've done good.
@Trista Fravel I'm a goldne oldie....been a fan since the early 70s ....
❤
He was way ahead of its time..
This album does suck though, comparing to his previous and later work. This is my least favourite Bowie song.
This was filmed in the town of Carinda, Australia in it’s only pub. The population was 158. The main characters are the Aboriginal people of Australia. They were treated different than the white Australians and lived outside the city limits.... why do you think the girl stomped those red shoes 🤔 .....this world needs lots of prayer.
I always struggled to understand the purpose behind the music video.
Look for internet red shoe club. This is much more than you guys know! Pedophilia and the red shoe club. Oh, did I say that out loud???
@@RS-gi9hu If you didn’t understand the meaning of this video
Then you didn’t want to understand
Pray into one hand and shit into the other, see which one fills up first ahahaha
Just saying, the world needs a fuck of a lot more than prayers. I just think this is an especially ironic comment considering the good-ol' "Christian values" behind some of the more silent genocides on the planet(including what happened in Australia). The same sort of thing happened in the Americas, btw. What part wasn't perpetrated directly by the church was allowed/supported by its members. But yeah, let's pray on it-- irony aside, that's much easier than actually doing anything.
@@MrRock1878 I blame the media and those hiding the truth. If you're Australian, the ignorance is inexcusable. Imagine my surprise as an 11yr old in the 90's in the UK when my dad told me Neighbours and Home & Away isn't an accurate representation of Australia, because neither show had not even one Native Indigenous Australian person in them
Heard of his passing on
10.1.16. Very sad news. I have been a big fan since buying the Ziggy Stardust LP in 1972. The 'to be played at maximum volume' message on the back cover was the height of rebellion to a 15 year old kid. Thanks for all the pleasure you give us. RIP
He still lives through this song and video in a moment in time captured for many to experience even if you are just discovering this song for the first time.
First Bowie song I loved as a kid!
Same here
Same!
Same
Agreed .........thanks to Video
The same, first concert 1990
Quite possibly David Bowie's greatest song. The 1980's were awesome for great music.
One of the Greatest Videos Ever.
The 80's were a special time, not duplicated. When MTV was MTV, before the Corporate Conglomerates took it over for Global Social Programming.
Quicksand 1971
It takes you back to when Mtv actually played music.
