I know people like to complain when cases get covered over and over again... but I LOVE it when Stephanie covers a well-known case. I think to myself "finally! Ive seen A LOT of videos on this family, but this is the only one that shows multiple photos of the family. I really appreciate that. It makes THEM the center of the video, not just what happened to them.

Their families defending them saying “they’ve never seen them TAKE meth” and how could they raise their daughter??? My mom would’ve said the same about me before I left for rehab to over come an opiate addiction! I have 3 kids I cared for. Families are in denial. Drug addicts WILL NOT expose themselves to family!!!
Yeah I definitely agree. Drug addicts get excellent at hiding their drug use. The one weird thing about that is that they didn't find any drugs, paraphernalia, or even residue in their car or home... Something you would expect to find, even if hidden, somewhere in either their home or car if they were really using quite a bit.
Yep. Functioning addicts. If they were using meth, paranoia makes a lot of sense. If they were using and selling, paranoia makes a TON of sense. Meth is heavily associated with entities, no surprise. You basically invite in. I definitely feel they were murdered, drug related and someone knows. Period. Poor child was collateral damage.
What seems odd out of that though was they found nothing like that in their home or car at all know matter how well they was keeping it hid from family it seems like they would have been something in the home at least residue. I know this from having a family member that got into selling and taking Meth the longer they was taking it the less they became worried about their home also they said that they had been on pain pills bad and when they got where they couldn't get them they went to Meth and that it was so much harder to hide then the opiates abuse know one ever knew they had a problem with pain meds but family knew after a few months something bad was going on after they started dealing and taking Meth. This is just a odd and sad case.
Nice! She was also in a Netflix doc I saw not long ago. I forget the lady’s name, but the one who was at the Cecil hotel and passed away, found deceased in the water tower. She was featured in that show also!
The parent’s, Sherilynn and Bobby, seem to have such a wide range of differing appearances in their photos. No two pictures look similar. I think this is a reflection of how much chaos was going on in their family.
I just hope you realize how many people actually need you in their lives.. and the “I’m not going anywhere. We’re stuck together. Forever. All of us” is all totally okay with us. 😂👻
Thank you for remembering to update us on the puppy and that she recovered. Sometimes that information gets left out and it matters especially if it's the only positive part of the tragedy
There was another young man who disappeared from Eufala in a similar manner to this family... His name was Tommy Eastep. His truck and personal belongings were found but his remains weren't discovered until 3 years after he went missing... 1 mile from the truck and within where the search parties scoured for him. His story sticks out to me because I spoke with his mother... I worked in student loan processing and she was trying to get his student loans put on hold for him. I will never forget his story :(
I swear this channel makes me a better mom. Lol. If it wasn't for Stephanie I wouldn't be able to do my dishes or anything. Coffee and True crime make me be able to get my butt out of bed and focused on what I need to do. When I see that pic of Madyson (sp?) I see/feel that a stranger took it, and that she’s looking off to the side at her parents who are trying to comfort her and coaching her to just listen and do what the stranger is telling her to do. The poor thing looks terrified
I agree. It’s a terrifying pic. She may be worried about her dog and I think her arms are crossed because 1. she is cold, 2. She is scared. Her face is confused by what she is looking at. She may be pleading. This story is very disturbing no matter what occurred.
Every time I hear this case covered, I feel like , as someone from a hunting family, there is a theory no one discusses. It was deer season, the search itself was called off BECAUSE it was dangerous to be in the woods because you could be mistaken as a deer, and shot. So it’s always to me been a possibility that they exited the car, maybe to let the girl pee cause didn’t we all have a situation where we couldn’t make it so our parents let us pee in the woods on the side of the road? And then someone... was accidentally shot by a hunter. A hunter who then heard a human scream, and realized then and there he was in danger of going to prison, so he... simply took out the witnesses, stashed the bodies, and simply didnt even think to ever check the car, didn’t KNOW about the car, because this was a hunting accident - turned - panic homicide. Maybe the flower was a form of apology to assuage some guilt the hunter had for killing the girl. I’ve never heard ANYONE bring this up? And it amazes me because it would make the most sense to me, anyway.
My father was a Pastor and he always told me that even in a confession or a consulting session he was mandated to report anyone who he thought might be a danger to themselves or others. While people do have privacy, there are mandated reporters who are legally obligated to break privacy if it means protecting someone.
What I can say from my own experience is that it's absolutely possible to get involved in drugs without family and friends knowing or even suspecting...
I agree. I was so convinced my sister was clean for years…her toxicology report after her veering to the wrong side of the road and killing herself and my 9 year old niece and injuring another family of four, showed she was on meth. And I wasn’t blinded I honestly couldn’t stand my sister and was waiting for her to mess up so I can take my niece. They definitely could’ve hidden it well.
I think this is true because even though some family members recognize it, they can’t even admit it to themselves when it’s going on. But I think there are usually at least one family member who just knows, a sibling or a parent usually. I knew when a family member was using but nobody believed me when I said something and the person was really good at hiding it. I just “felt” that something “off” or was wrong and noticed subtle changes.
The supernatural theory just reinforces the meth angle for me. Hallucinations are common when coming off meth, and often play off the imagination. If they thought the house was haunted, then the hallucinations probably took that shape.
Well, that's terrifying. My imagination and I wouldn't get along if I ever took meth. Not that I'm ever planning on it, but my friends have been roofied and drugged through drinks and weed and stuff so it can happen.

I know that the 11 page letter about her not liking her marriage seems really strange and could be interpreted as motive, but I have bipolar as well and have 100% written lengthy letters/journal entries as to why I feel my marriage may not be working. Emotions with bipolar are INCREDIBLY strong even when they aren’t what you actually think or feel. I write those things feeling like they are 100% what I feel and what I want to do, but the truth is I wake up the next morning and don’t even remember writing it or why I was so upset to write it.
I have it as well, and concur. Long writings ..not always whats meant...not always sent. But im careful to never say things that are untrue. For this reason. Luckily i can barely read my own handwriting.😂
So Sherilynn had mental health issues, her and Bobby had issues with their marriage, Bobby had physical health issues, yet they were going to buy a piece of land and live in a storage unit in a dangerous area on their own? This doesn't sound like a good idea. So many unanswered questions here, such a weird case.
People will do anything they think will “fix” their problems, I can understand the move being an effort to help mental health & marriage issues but agreed, Bobby’s health kind of trumps all of those issues. Just my speculation!
And layed side by side, FACE DOWN as they were dying?! If they were found huddled up, or even spread apart, in different positions, I'd buy it, but not the way they were found. SOMEONE put them like that AFTER they were dead, and if you come across a dead family in the middle of nowhere, you call the authorities, you don't nearly arrange them and leave.
Very good point. Some people over exaggerate their pain esp. When getting disability checks are involved. 2 adults living off Disability benefits. They had $32,000 in cash. The paranoia screams drug use.
As Detective Ken Main says, the key clue to me, was the dog being left in the truck without water and food and with the windows all the way up. They absolutely would not have left the dog to die
I believe there was foul play involved and it was most likely linked to drugs, it's the only explanation that somewhat makes sense to me. If they were new to the whole "dealing" thing and expected a quick deal they left the dog in the car because they expected to be back soon.
Also the child was not found next to parents but something like 100 mt from them and she probably died waiting for help while the parents were killed. I am quite sure they were taken there by car, it was a very cold October, it rained and how could have they walked so far from their car with back injuries and a 6 years old kid. So who knew they were there with a lot of money and they had a gun? Who they would have trust so much to let the dog in the car believing they were going to come back... whoever knew it is the killer, took the money and the gun, kept the little girl there waiting and was also able to keep the dog in the car (meaning he knew the dog). Sure thing not a drug dealer but a friend or worst someone of their family. Probably we will never know for sure but I suspect someone in the family.
@@biancaenera2500i live in Florida and A LOT of people with kids do drugs. They might do the best they can,.or they dont care at all...but many people dont really care. It just IS. What i focus on is what the best friend of Sherilyn said, that she drove right up there and saw all those Texas plates lined up at a house. Thats a drug house. I'd name the States i wouldn't want to drive through their mountains... I think it was a drug deal, or more than one...the people didn't know the money was there. Or couldn't find it. Took them up there and shot them. Or they'd walked out themselves...they were executed. No sheriff no matter how much a hotshot ..is going after those guys. Oklahoma is extremely dangerous AND it is haunted!! They were right on one thing. I think they were nervous about the drug deal...and if they were using them, they were short on cash ontop of needing money for drugs.
She was pinching herself. My daughter does this when really upset. Doctor said it's normal for kids to hurt themselves when they can't control the situation (bang their head on the floor, pinch themselves, throw body on the ground, ext). I think she was upset and looking at her parents. I believe they missed a lot of evidence out there. They need to start over and start with the people who knew where they would be, the man who had the land first of all.
Today is my son's birthday. He turned 14 at 10:32am. I just got home from work and about to start his birthday dinner preparations when he comes in the kitchen and says, "Mom! Harloween posted! Mind if we listen together?". So, I'm starting a cake batter and my not so little boy is sitting at the table completely happy to spend this time with me. ❤️ Thank you. Dang! Colton was a smart boy! If he hadn't told the courts that his mom was struggling with her mental health, and requested to live with his dad full time, he would have been with them when they disappeared! That's gotta mess with your head, and he was only 12 years old. I feel bad for him... as the only survivor, he's going to need counseling for any "survivor's guilt" he might experience.
They definitely were on something. This case is so bizzare. I've watched it several times with different narrators and it's still one of those cases I feel so curious about.

The thing about them doing meth: the police never found any evidence of drug use in the house or the car. I don't know but I'm pretty skeptical that someone in such a compromised mental state would be able to hide everything.

People who do drugs don't care if it's around their kid. Addiction makes you lose who you are. I would know first hand. Not saying anything bad about them but the drug use makes you do things so out of character sadly. Again not saying they did or didn't do drugs. And I also agree ... if you actively use drugs there would be empty bags, needles, pipes etc. My car was littered with them. And If someone attacked them, they wouldn't clean out all the paraphernalia and leave all that money

@@StephanieHarloweas someone who has experience with drug selling/buying... I have another theory. The brown suitcase was to put drugs in. One thing every person knows when buying is, you see the stuff and make sure it's good before handing over cash. The probably got out with the suitcase first, then the guy didn't have the drugs. He then took the family and killed them. He/they thought the money was in the suitcase, when the money was still in the car. They probably didn't even realize it until they were somewhere they thought was safe to open it. By then, they couldn't risk going back up to look in the vehicle, or they thought they had no money to begin with. But that suitcase I believe was for the drugs. I also believe the land had nothing to do with it. I would go back to the man who brought them there... hebis hiding something, maybe covering for his kid or himself. But the fact he was there, means he is involved on this
Stephanie please do a video on Fawn Marie Mountain. She was a 25 year old who disappeared from Claysburg, Pa in November 2012. Allegedly murdered by her lover, Heather Dibert. No body ever found, Heather was the last to see her and was never even questioned by the cops. $10,000 reward is being offered to find the truth about what happened to Fawn. Maybe you can bring some awareness of this tragic case. Maybe we could even raise some more money to offer as a reward so that this young woman can have justice.
I kind of think it’s a mix of some of the theories. As the daughter of two addicts, it’s completely believable to me that if they were such hermits no one would’ve known about their drug use or selling. I think the dad who was mixed up with drugs also got his son involved when he was working at the gas station with him. Meth also causes extreme paranoia and hallucinations, ie the “spirits” in their house.
I believe this 💯. I live near this area, and 3rd generation Okie. Sadly it’s quite common to have meth ruin generations of families, and no one wants to admit there’s a problem. So sad.
Completely agree. I also grew up around addicts and all their behavior points to meth use in my opinion. Especially when they mentioned the dad's eyes being black and looking possessed. His pupils were probably dilated from the drug use. 😔
I’m in my first trimester of pregnancy & it’s been so hard to get through this time. I’ve been in the hospital twice for severe vomiting & dehydration. This all seems like the result of meth to me... I grew up around that BS and unfortunately this is all familiar. The paranoia, the weird things they'd say/ask for, the uncomfortable photo of Madison... all of it is so triggering for me.

The Colton of it all is sus to me. A boy doesn't reject a happy loving family because his mom gets depressed. I feel like this family was deeply messy.
Man whatever happened leading up to these people's deaths, I feel so bad for their daughter. If that priest had told someone, maybe that little girl would still be alive. There was a legitimate reason they lost custody of the boy. So sad.
Oklahoma usually does not change full custody once its established. Now that being said in oklahoma the age of maturity is 13. Also, if drug use were proved (via urine drug screen or blood screen) the mother would have lost custody of the daughter as well.
That's what makes me believe he was part of some sort of religious Christian indoctrination. He was perhaps preaching about spirits or devils or bad humours or something else a bit medieval which stuck in the minds of isolated, mentally ill, susceptible people and they ended up going mad from it. However I don't think that was the result of their deaths.

I definitely agree that Madison looks scared and distressed, as well. If it was a Breaking Bad situation, you would think they'd search the truck for more money or whatever, so it's strange.
Unless it was more of a hit than a robbery? Maybe they were rushed and paranoid users as well. The whole situation is odd. It's also possible the parents had money or drugs on their person and those were taken, but the money wasn't found. Seems like a dumb error a cloudy minded drug user might make. To steal a wallet, cash, small amounts of drugs, jewelry, etc but not think to check under the seats for any valuables in a frenzied rush? Just so weird.
No, she's clearly about to pose. She looks like they caught her while she was trying to strike a pose for the camera. Why would a killer take a picture of his victim if he planned to kill her and didn't even keep the photo. What would be the point?
A few years back I had a psychotic episode and one of my delusions was that one of my dogs was an alien sent to spy on me. So if this was a case of shared delusion, they may have left the dog behind because the dog itself became part of the delusions/paranoia, or if the dog was microchipped they might have wrongly thought the dogs location could have been tracked though it. I personally lean more towards foul play than the delusional hypothesis, but thought I’d mention my experience as it could potentially explain why poor pup was left in car.
I agree. I think the mental health/delusions/confusion/drugs/religious brainwashing or whatever was causing this unusual behaviour is an unfortunate side issue. They had been together as a family for a long time, they continued to get on with their lives and were not reported by anyone as being troublesome or out of control. They don't really sound, in terms of daily life, to be damaging to one another. They did remove their daughter from school to protect her.

Being from southeastern Oklahoma (technically on the western edge) it’s called Little Dixie and is a huge drug area. You should cover the Stephan Adams case in Cherokee County, Tahlequah. It’s a wild case as well. I have info and help I can give you. I lived there when he went missing.
I work at the veterinary hospital and when you said how long the poor dog was in that car I about died 😭 here in Australia especially where I live dogs die within hours due to heat. I'm so happy Maisy made it.

Well, people high on meth usually have absolutely no sense of time. I’m sure they didn’t expect to not come back when they left the dog there. After being awake for days/weeks, a person’s brain is about fried! It would explain why they were walking back and forth packing the truck looking completely aimless and staring off into space- they were walking outside and probably completely forgetting what they came out there for. Trust me- I speak from personal experience and when I saw the video, that’s EXACTLY what it looked like to me.
@@christinafidance340 But if they were truly on meth, I don’t see how they were responsible for their own death, as their death would have required methodical planning and awareness, given the manner in which their bodies were found and the fact that no weapon was found nearby. For all three of them to be face down laying side to side, without any weapons or murder objects (for example a rope for strangulation) anywhere around, nearly seven miles walking distance from their truck with the dog left inside, there is just no scenario in which them being responsible for their own death makes any sense, especially if they were on drugs (which I don’t doubt they could have been).
I thought the same thing when the dog was found in the car? Why would they leave the dog in The car, in the country setting just doesn't fit right!? The last picture felt off putting, all together.
I was born and raised, and still live 20 minutes from Red Oak. Many of my friends, who knew them personally (I did not ), have said that it was definitely drug involvement, but they were new to it. They didn’t know how dangerous the drug game can REALLY be. This is why they took their daughter with them because they were naive, and thought it was going to be an easy transaction for a quick buck. This is just what has been said around town over the years. All these small towns talk, and everyone knows someone that’s involved in drugs. It’s so sooo bad around here! The people I’ve talked to are pretty credible, so I have to believe there is some truth to it. It’s sad no matter what…😔

@@ashleyrose2176 I don't know but maybe if they were still trying to be good parents they specifically avoided taking drugs in their house where their daughter was... but then they apparently brought her along for a drug deal so I feel like that's a stretch.

I have a feeling this rabbit hole goes a lot deeper concerning Bobby's father, and his connections with possible Mexican cartel. The fact that Bobby's mom separated from her husband and while living with Bobby was concerned enough to get home surveillance tells a lot. A LOT. Now if Bobby's father was laundering money for the cartel ,which is ridiculously common by the way, a trial would cause some digging in financial documents and ledgers etc and would uncover corruption and scandal.
Just a thought: what if Maddison is upset/crying in the photo because she was forced to leave her dog behind? Yes, you can teach a dog to hunt for you and yes the dog could potentially keep them safe by notifying them of a person coming their wway but the dog could also give them away. Let me be clear that I do not agree with the dog being left behind...I'm just saying with all of these theories I feel like this thought could fit with many of them.

I've bred and trained hunting dogs most of my life and sounds like your doing some very good thinking...I think that could be why she's upset..also leaving a dog behind like that makes me think there was a plan to return to the dog and vehicle that the 6 year olds pure unconvoulted instincts told her that might not be happening..she was likely the only person involved here that wasnt diluted

I must say I really appreciate how you really don't cover active investigations, as public opinion can really screw up a a perp's chance at a fair trial, sometimes resulting in their convictions being overturned.
I live almost directly west of Eufala and four years ago we bought a vintage Mercedes in the mountain area south of Eufala. We met a young man at a gas station in one of the small southeastern Oklahoma towns and followed him up winding gravel and dirt roads up into what my husband called the Oklahoma mountains. My husband had grown up in Oklahoma but, had been gone from the area for years. I’m a small town Iowa farm girl and I was enjoying the beautiful scenery as we continued to follow higher and higher. As we went deep into the timber I began to feel uncomfortable and was somewhat relieved when we finally came to a clearing with a brand new mobile home and several very old homes and buildings were scattered. The older buildings brought to mind Deliverance, Wrong Turn, House of 1000 Corpses and of course, Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I was expecting Leatherface or Rob Zombie to come jumping out at any moment. We purchased the car and made arrangements to come back in a few weeks with a trailer as it needed work. As we headed back down, we made one stop so I could take a picture of a gate leading into a large pasture. Hanging on the gate were a completely skinned skull and the hide of a coyote. I later learned that this was done as a deterrent to keep the coyotes away from the livestock. At the time, I was working for the Oklahoma Sheriffs and Peace Officers Association and when I got to work on Monday I had to share my adventure with the guys. These were seasoned law enforcement officers that were retired but, continued to work with many agencies and associations in the state. They laughed at me as I told my tale, then quickly let me know that following someone up into those mountains was not a wise idea. They warned me, that when we returned to get the car, under no circumstances tell anyone where I worked. Law enforcement was not received well because of the meth labs and other drugs. I then listened to stories of the Dixie Mafia and others that had chosen that part of the state to hide in. I was even warned to watch out for Sasquatch. Apparently, there have been enough sightings to warrant a festive in his honor every fall. One other thing that drew my attention was a very small, rundown but, obviously active, Pentecostal Church. So, having heard the stories and warnings, my first guess would be drugs. My second guess, knowing that they were experiencing spirits, witches and demons, if they wanted to be rid of them, they could have possibly been seeking a church or pastor to perform some type of deliverance or exorcism and something went terribly wrong. Obviously, with both dealing with health issues that add to mental health issues and medications to treat the symptoms, there’s always the chance that someone just can’t take the pain any longer and feel they have no choice to end that pain. Those are my thoughts. It’s a tragic end to three lives and grief beyond measure for the family left behind.
Seeing “spirits” telling others your house is “haunted” and researching burial grounds, suggests they absolutely believed it! Strange thing is, a girl friend said she also saw “something “ (grey mist floating down the stairs). Can everyone be delusional? High? Maybe. Also this explains why they want to move out of the house. Why they would choose to go to the mountains might be getting a cheaper place and having more property without neighbors close by? Maybe they did research and there are not burial grounds in the mountains? I definitely think they saw something they shouldn’t have or the sale of the property they were looking at was bogus and someone stole from them and killed them. How they got that far away? 🤷🏻♀️ sad for the whole family, and especially the son! Geeze. If he hadn’t gotten out he’d likely be dead. Bet he thinks of that too.
I have a sister-in-law that was acting crazy like that, saying she was a witch, all kind of stuff like that and she even talked to me about her ex son-in-law and she was going to take care of him by a spell. She was driving down the road and kept calling police non-stop saying he was following her, he wasn't. My in-laws took her to the hospital and she was admitted. As they were doing test they found a small tumor on a certain part of her brain; it was removed and she was back to her amazing herself.

The only issue is there is no trace of meth in the house or the car. Handling that would likely leave a trace unless this was an extremely recent thing. There's also a possibility that it was another drug, substance or type of goods that they were selling.

The picture of Madison broke my heart. She looked just like my second born, who is 6. I could not help but cry, seeing how distress she looked. How could someone hurt an innocent child?
Okay but if the theory of them believing they were being chased and in danger, leaving their truck in the middle of the dirt road and the dog...wouldn't Bobbies back pain still keep him from actually protecting his family if he can barely walk around his home? I feel like he would think (if he really believed they were in mortal danger) that him going up with them would slow them down since he was in so much pain.

But my uncle God bless his soul was an old mountain rough man and he literally used a walker to get from the recliner to the bathroom but if he was rolling his bowl he would be outside with a headlamp on looking for arrowheads ☠️ i

14:18 - a few things. The state could easily close that area off for hunters temporarily given the circumstances but I don’t think hunters would want to hunt anywhere that’s being disturbed but lots of people anyways. Also, anybody on public land should be wearing blaze orange during deer season regardless, even if they are just taking a hike. And like a comment mentions below, responsible hunters would never take a shot unless they are sure of their target. So that shouldn’t even be considered a good excuse to not be able to survey that area.
Some people that live out there may not watch the news or know that a search was going on. 🤷🏻♀️ but I agree, not a good reason to call off the search.
A common misconception about hunting is that you can just go in to the woods and just kill stuff but you actually have to either go online or to a sporting shop to buy several different licenses, permits, and tags. Any of these places can easily communicate with the local hunters about this issue. I’ve been hunting for about 6 years and know many hunters that have been going for 20+ years and none of them would freak out given the circumstance. It sounds like the hunters provided a bulk of evidence to help the investigation from spotting the vehicle to unfortunately finding the remains. I’m sorry to sound argumentative, I just don’t like people vilifying hunters, that’s all.
I think you took that too intensely. I meant literally that a very large group of people that contribute to our economy in large ways every year would be like whoa what’s going on what’s up with that. I know that would happen where I live so maybe that’s just circumstantial. I think it actually HAS happened where I live lol not necessarily saying that happens everywhere but what I said stands, people in some places would be like omg wtf, etc. Nobody’s going to start a riot over looking for a missing person. Many different groups of people will have different reactions though. I think there’s also really great people and some not so great people who partake in every hobby/sport. Maybe I just know some real shitty people, absolutely possible.
Glad you pointed these things out! A whole bunch of my family are hunters. All of them since they were kids and now all the way to the current generation of children in our fam bam. Though they might be disappointed for a second to hear they wouldn't be able to hunt (money for tags and such), it would quickly turn into all of them asking "How can we help?". They know the woods here and have ATVs and other ways to get around that would be helpful too. They would NEVER put the life of others in jeopardy for a hunt. That's why they believe in teaching gun safety repeatedly. Also why they hunt...it helps feed a lot of my family. Not saying others can't or don't feel differently. Only speaking on behalf of my family and close friends.

Yeah I definitely agree. Drug addicts get excellent at hiding their drug use. The one weird thing about that is that they didn't find any drugs, paraphernalia, or even residue in their car or home... Something you would expect to find, even if hidden, somewhere in either their home or car if they were really using quite a bit.

If they were using meth, paranoia makes a lot of sense. If they were using and selling, paranoia makes a TON of sense.
Meth is heavily associated with entities, no surprise. You basically invite in.
I definitely feel they were murdered, drug related and someone knows. Period. Poor child was collateral damage.
What seems odd out of that though was they found nothing like that in their home or car at all know matter how well they was keeping it hid from family it seems like they would have been something in the home at least residue.
I know this from having a family member that got into selling and taking Meth the longer they was taking it the less they became worried about their home also they said that they had been on pain pills bad and when they got where they couldn't get them they went to Meth and that it was so much harder to hide then the opiates abuse know one ever knew they had a problem with pain meds but family knew after a few months something bad was going on after they started dealing and taking Meth.
This is just a odd and sad case.

The parent’s, Sherilynn and Bobby, seem to have such a wide range of differing appearances in their photos. No two pictures look similar. I think this is a reflection of how much chaos was going on in their family.

There was another young man who disappeared from Eufala in a similar manner to this family... His name was Tommy Eastep. His truck and personal belongings were found but his remains weren't discovered until 3 years after he went missing... 1 mile from the truck and within where the search parties scoured for him.
His story sticks out to me because I spoke with his mother... I worked in student loan processing and she was trying to get his student loans put on hold for him. I will never forget his story :(

When I see that pic of Madyson (sp?) I see/feel that a stranger took it, and that she’s looking off to the side at her parents who are trying to comfort her and coaching her to just listen and do what the stranger is telling her to do. The poor thing looks terrified
I agree. It’s a terrifying pic. She may be worried about her dog and I think her arms are crossed because 1. she is cold, 2. She is scared. Her face is confused by what she is looking at. She may be pleading. This story is very disturbing no matter what occurred.

Every time I hear this case covered, I feel like , as someone from a hunting family, there is a theory no one discusses. It was deer season, the search itself was called off BECAUSE it was dangerous to be in the woods because you could be mistaken as a deer, and shot.
So it’s always to me been a possibility that they exited the car, maybe to let the girl pee cause didn’t we all have a situation where we couldn’t make it so our parents let us pee in the woods on the side of the road? And then someone... was accidentally shot by a hunter. A hunter who then heard a human scream, and realized then and there he was in danger of going to prison, so he... simply took out the witnesses, stashed the bodies, and simply didnt even think to ever check the car, didn’t KNOW about the car, because this was a hunting accident - turned - panic homicide. Maybe the flower was a form of apology to assuage some guilt the hunter had for killing the girl.
I’ve never heard ANYONE bring this up? And it amazes me because it would make the most sense to me, anyway.

My father was a Pastor and he always told me that even in a confession or a consulting session he was mandated to report anyone who he thought might be a danger to themselves or others. While people do have privacy, there are mandated reporters who are legally obligated to break privacy if it means protecting someone.
What I can say from my own experience is that it's absolutely possible to get involved in drugs without family and friends knowing or even suspecting...

I was so convinced my sister was clean for years…her toxicology report after her veering to the wrong side of the road and killing herself and my 9 year old niece and injuring another family of four, showed she was on meth. And I wasn’t blinded I honestly couldn’t stand my sister and was waiting for her to mess up so I can take my niece. They definitely could’ve hidden it well.

I think this is true because even though some family members recognize it, they can’t even admit it to themselves when it’s going on. But I think there are usually at least one family member who just knows, a sibling or a parent usually. I knew when a family member was using but nobody believed me when I said something and the person was really good at hiding it. I just “felt” that something “off” or was wrong and noticed subtle changes.

The supernatural theory just reinforces the meth angle for me. Hallucinations are common when coming off meth, and often play off the imagination. If they thought the house was haunted, then the hallucinations probably took that shape.

Well, that's terrifying. My imagination and I wouldn't get along if I ever took meth. Not that I'm ever planning on it, but my friends have been roofied and drugged through drinks and weed and stuff so it can happen.

This one has bothered me for years. They definitely met with foul play. I think Madison looks terrified, too. Just a very tragic, very puzzling case.
I know that the 11 page letter about her not liking her marriage seems really strange and could be interpreted as motive, but I have bipolar as well and have 100% written lengthy letters/journal entries as to why I feel my marriage may not be working. Emotions with bipolar are INCREDIBLY strong even when they aren’t what you actually think or feel. I write those things feeling like they are 100% what I feel and what I want to do, but the truth is I wake up the next morning and don’t even remember writing it or why I was so upset to write it.
I have it as well, and concur. Long writings ..not always whats meant...not always sent. But im careful to never say things that are untrue. For this reason.

So Sherilynn had mental health issues, her and Bobby had issues with their marriage, Bobby had physical health issues, yet they were going to buy a piece of land and live in a storage unit in a dangerous area on their own? This doesn't sound like a good idea. So many unanswered questions here, such a weird case.
People will do anything they think will “fix” their problems, I can understand the move being an effort to help mental health & marriage issues but agreed, Bobby’s health kind of trumps all of those issues. Just my speculation!

And layed side by side, FACE DOWN as they were dying?! If they were found huddled up, or even spread apart, in different positions, I'd buy it, but not the way they were found. SOMEONE put them like that AFTER they were dead, and if you come across a dead family in the middle of nowhere, you call the authorities, you don't nearly arrange them and leave.
Very good point. Some people over exaggerate their pain esp. When getting disability checks are involved. 2 adults living off Disability benefits. They had $32,000 in cash. The paranoia screams drug use.
As Detective Ken Main says, the key clue to me, was the dog being left in the truck without water and food and with the windows all the way up. They absolutely would not have left the dog to die
I believe there was foul play involved and it was most likely linked to drugs, it's the only explanation that somewhat makes sense to me. If they were new to the whole "dealing" thing and expected a quick deal they left the dog in the car because they expected to be back soon.
Also the child was not found next to parents but something like 100 mt from them and she probably died waiting for help while the parents were killed. I am quite sure they were taken there by car, it was a very cold October, it rained and how could have they walked so far from their car with back injuries and a 6 years old kid. So who knew they were there with a lot of money and they had a gun? Who they would have trust so much to let the dog in the car believing they were going to come back... whoever knew it is the killer, took the money and the gun, kept the little girl there waiting and was also able to keep the dog in the car (meaning he knew the dog). Sure thing not a drug dealer but a friend or worst someone of their family. Probably we will never know for sure but I suspect someone in the family.

I think it was a drug deal, or more than one...the people didn't know the money was there. Or couldn't find it. Took them up there and shot them. Or they'd walked out themselves...they were executed. No sheriff no matter how much a hotshot ..is going after those guys. Oklahoma is extremely dangerous AND it is haunted!! They were right on one thing.
I think they were nervous about the drug deal...and if they were using them, they were short on cash ontop of needing money for drugs.

She was pinching herself. My daughter does this when really upset. Doctor said it's normal for kids to hurt themselves when they can't control the situation (bang their head on the floor, pinch themselves, throw body on the ground, ext). I think she was upset and looking at her parents. I believe they missed a lot of evidence out there. They need to start over and start with the people who knew where they would be, the man who had the land first of all.
Today is my son's birthday. He turned 14 at 10:32am. I just got home from work and about to start his birthday dinner preparations when he comes in the kitchen and says, "Mom! Harloween posted! Mind if we listen together?".

Dang! Colton was a smart boy! If he hadn't told the courts that his mom was struggling with her mental health, and requested to live with his dad full time, he would have been with them when they disappeared! That's gotta mess with your head, and he was only 12 years old. I feel bad for him... as the only survivor, he's going to need counseling for any "survivor's guilt" he might experience.

And I also agree ... if you actively use drugs there would be empty bags, needles, pipes etc. My car was littered with them. And If someone attacked them, they wouldn't clean out all the paraphernalia and leave all that money

@@StephanieHarloweas someone who has experience with drug selling/buying... I have another theory. The brown suitcase was to put drugs in. One thing every person knows when buying is, you see the stuff and make sure it's good before handing over cash. The probably got out with the suitcase first, then the guy didn't have the drugs. He then took the family and killed them. He/they thought the money was in the suitcase, when the money was still in the car. They probably didn't even realize it until they were somewhere they thought was safe to open it. By then, they couldn't risk going back up to look in the vehicle, or they thought they had no money to begin with. But that suitcase I believe was for the drugs. I also believe the land had nothing to do with it. I would go back to the man who brought them there... hebis hiding something, maybe covering for his kid or himself. But the fact he was there, means he is involved on this
Stephanie please do a video on Fawn Marie Mountain. She was a 25 year old who disappeared from Claysburg, Pa in November 2012. Allegedly murdered by her lover, Heather Dibert. No body ever found, Heather was the last to see her and was never even questioned by the cops. $10,000 reward is being offered to find the truth about what happened to Fawn. Maybe you can bring some awareness of this tragic case. Maybe we could even raise some more money to offer as a reward so that this young woman can have justice.
I kind of think it’s a mix of some of the theories. As the daughter of two addicts, it’s completely believable to me that if they were such hermits no one would’ve known about their drug use or selling. I think the dad who was mixed up with drugs also got his son involved when he was working at the gas station with him. Meth also causes extreme paranoia and hallucinations, ie the “spirits” in their house.
I believe this 💯. I live near this area, and 3rd generation Okie. Sadly it’s quite common to have meth ruin generations of families, and no one wants to admit there’s a problem. So sad.
Completely agree. I also grew up around addicts and all their behavior points to meth use in my opinion. Especially when they mentioned the dad's eyes being black and looking possessed. His pupils were probably dilated from the drug use. 😔

Man whatever happened leading up to these people's deaths, I feel so bad for their daughter. If that priest had told someone, maybe that little girl would still be alive. There was a legitimate reason they lost custody of the boy. So sad.
Oklahoma usually does not change full custody once its established. Now that being said in oklahoma the age of maturity is 13. Also, if drug use were proved (via urine drug screen or blood screen) the mother would have lost custody of the daughter as well.
That's what makes me believe he was part of some sort of religious Christian indoctrination. He was perhaps preaching about spirits or devils or bad humours or something else a bit medieval which stuck in the minds of isolated, mentally ill, susceptible people and they ended up going mad from it. However I don't think that was the result of their deaths.

Unless it was more of a hit than a robbery? Maybe they were rushed and paranoid users as well. The whole situation is odd. It's also possible the parents had money or drugs on their person and those were taken, but the money wasn't found. Seems like a dumb error a cloudy minded drug user might make. To steal a wallet, cash, small amounts of drugs, jewelry, etc but not think to check under the seats for any valuables in a frenzied rush?

A few years back I had a psychotic episode and one of my delusions was that one of my dogs was an alien sent to spy on me. So if this was a case of shared delusion, they may have left the dog behind because the dog itself became part of the delusions/paranoia, or if the dog was microchipped they might have wrongly thought the dogs location could have been tracked though it.
I personally lean more towards foul play than the delusional hypothesis, but thought I’d mention my experience as it could potentially explain why poor pup was left in car.
I agree. I think the mental health/delusions/confusion/drugs/religious brainwashing or whatever was causing this unusual behaviour is an unfortunate side issue. They had been together as a family for a long time, they continued to get on with their lives and were not reported by anyone as being troublesome or out of control. They don't really sound, in terms of daily life, to be damaging to one another. They did remove their daughter from school to protect her.
But even then, why leave 32k in the car?
They were probably saving it for wherever they were going to live. I don't think they planned to never return again to their car.

Being from southeastern Oklahoma (technically on the western edge) it’s called Little Dixie and is a huge drug area. You should cover the Stephan Adams case in Cherokee County, Tahlequah. It’s a wild case as well. I have info and help I can give you. I lived there when he went missing.
I work at the veterinary hospital and when you said how long the poor dog was in that car I about died 😭 here in Australia especially where I live dogs die within hours due to heat. I'm so happy Maisy made it.

Well, people high on meth usually have absolutely no sense of time. I’m sure they didn’t expect to not come back when they left the dog there. After being awake for days/weeks, a person’s brain is about fried! It would explain why they were walking back and forth packing the truck looking completely aimless and staring off into space- they were walking outside and probably completely forgetting what they came out there for. Trust me- I speak from personal experience and when I saw the video, that’s EXACTLY what it looked like to me.
@@christinafidance340 But if they were truly on meth, I don’t see how they were responsible for their own death, as their death would have required methodical planning and awareness, given the manner in which their bodies were found and the fact that no weapon was found nearby. For all three of them to be face down laying side to side, without any weapons or murder objects (for example a rope for strangulation) anywhere around, nearly seven miles walking distance from their truck with the dog left inside, there is just no scenario in which them being responsible for their own death makes any sense, especially if they were on drugs (which I don’t doubt they could have been).
I thought the same thing when the dog was found in the car? Why would they leave the dog in The car, in the country setting just doesn't fit right!? The last picture felt off putting, all together.

I was born and raised, and still live 20 minutes from Red Oak. Many of my friends, who knew them personally (I did not ), have said that it was definitely drug involvement, but they were new to it. They didn’t know how dangerous the drug game can REALLY be. This is why they took their daughter with them because they were naive, and thought it was going to be an easy transaction for a quick buck. This is just what has been said around town over the years.
All these small towns talk, and everyone knows someone that’s involved in drugs. It’s so sooo bad around here! The people I’ve talked to are pretty credible, so I have to believe there is some truth to it. It’s sad no matter what…😔

I have a feeling this rabbit hole goes a lot deeper concerning Bobby's father, and his connections with possible Mexican cartel. The fact that Bobby's mom separated from her husband and while living with Bobby was concerned enough to get home surveillance tells a lot. A LOT.
Now if Bobby's father was laundering money for the cartel ,which is ridiculously common by the way, a trial would cause some digging in financial documents and ledgers etc and would uncover corruption and scandal.
Just a thought: what if Maddison is upset/crying in the photo because she was forced to leave her dog behind? Yes, you can teach a dog to hunt for you and yes the dog could potentially keep them safe by notifying them of a person coming their wway but the dog could also give them away. Let me be clear that I do not agree with the dog being left behind...I'm just saying with all of these theories I feel like this thought could fit with many of them.
But why put her up there and take the photo? She would have been distressed from the roadside.

I must say I really appreciate how you really don't cover active investigations, as public opinion can really screw up a a perp's chance at a fair trial, sometimes resulting in their convictions being overturned.
I live almost directly west of Eufala and four years ago we bought a vintage Mercedes in the mountain area south of Eufala. We met a young man at a gas station in one of the small southeastern Oklahoma towns and followed him up winding gravel and dirt roads up into what my husband called the Oklahoma mountains. My husband had grown up in Oklahoma but, had been gone from the area for years. I’m a small town Iowa farm girl and I was enjoying the beautiful scenery as we continued to follow higher and higher. As we went deep into the timber I began to feel uncomfortable and was somewhat relieved when we finally came to a clearing with a brand new mobile home and several very old homes and buildings were scattered. The older buildings brought to mind Deliverance, Wrong Turn, House of 1000 Corpses and of course, Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I was expecting Leatherface or Rob Zombie to come jumping out at any moment. We purchased the car and made arrangements to come back in a few weeks with a trailer as it needed work. As we headed back down, we made one stop so I could take a picture of a gate leading into a large pasture. Hanging on the gate were a completely skinned skull and the hide of a coyote. I later learned that this was done as a deterrent to keep the coyotes away from the livestock.
At the time, I was working for the Oklahoma Sheriffs and Peace Officers Association and when I got to work on Monday I had to share my adventure with the guys. These were seasoned law enforcement officers that were retired but, continued to work with many agencies and associations in the state. They laughed at me as I told my tale, then quickly let me know that following someone up into those mountains was not a wise idea. They warned me, that when we returned to get the car, under no circumstances tell anyone where I worked. Law enforcement was not received well because of the meth labs and other drugs. I then listened to stories of the Dixie Mafia and others that had chosen that part of the state to hide in. I was even warned to watch out for Sasquatch. Apparently, there have been enough sightings to warrant a festive in his honor every fall.
One other thing that drew my attention was a very small, rundown but, obviously active, Pentecostal Church.
So, having heard the stories and warnings, my first guess would be drugs.
My second guess, knowing that they were experiencing spirits, witches and demons, if they wanted to be rid of them, they could have possibly been seeking a church or pastor to perform some type of deliverance or exorcism and something went terribly wrong.
Obviously, with both dealing with health issues that add to mental health issues and medications to treat the symptoms, there’s always the chance that someone just can’t take the pain any longer and feel they have no choice to end that pain.
Those are my thoughts. It’s a tragic end to three lives and grief beyond measure for the family left behind.
Seeing “spirits” telling others your house is “haunted” and researching burial grounds, suggests they absolutely believed it! Strange thing is, a girl friend said she also saw “something “ (grey mist floating down the stairs). Can everyone be delusional? High? Maybe. Also this explains why they want to move out of the house. Why they would choose to go to the mountains might be getting a cheaper place and having more property without neighbors close by? Maybe they did research and there are not burial grounds in the mountains? I definitely think they saw something they shouldn’t have or the sale of the property they were looking at was bogus and someone stole from them and killed them. How they got that far away? 🤷🏻♀️ sad for the whole family, and especially the son! Geeze. If he hadn’t gotten out he’d likely be dead. Bet he thinks of that too.
I have a sister-in-law that was acting crazy like that, saying she was a witch, all kind of stuff like that and she even talked to me about her ex son-in-law and she was going to take care of him by a spell. She was driving down the road and kept calling police non-stop saying he was following her, he wasn't. My in-laws took her to the hospital and she was admitted. As they were doing test they found a small tumor on a certain part of her brain; it was removed and she was back to her amazing herself.

I agree, especially with the connections his dad had. And if you're selling meth, youre more likely than not using it as well.
I believe that if they were using meth, hallucinations could explain why they believed their house was haunted.
The only issue is there is no trace of meth in the house or the car. Handling that would likely leave a trace unless this was an extremely recent thing. There's also a possibility that it was another drug, substance or type of goods that they were selling.

14:18 - a few things. The state could easily close that area off for hunters temporarily given the circumstances but I don’t think hunters would want to hunt anywhere that’s being disturbed but lots of people anyways. Also, anybody on public land should be wearing blaze orange during deer season regardless, even if they are just taking a hike. And like a comment mentions below, responsible hunters would never take a shot unless they are sure of their target. So that shouldn’t even be considered a good excuse to not be able to survey that area.
Some people that live out there may not watch the news or know that a search was going on. 🤷🏻♀️ but I agree, not a good reason to call off the search.
I think also in different parts of the US and probably world, hunting is like life. These people would freak the hell out if a season was closed.
A common misconception about hunting is that you can just go in to the woods and just kill stuff but you actually have to either go online or to a sporting shop to buy several different licenses, permits, and tags. Any of these places can easily communicate with the local hunters about this issue. I’ve been hunting for about 6 years and know many hunters that have been going for 20+ years and none of them would freak out given the circumstance. It sounds like the hunters provided a bulk of evidence to help the investigation from spotting the vehicle to unfortunately finding the remains. I’m sorry to sound argumentative, I just don’t like people vilifying hunters, that’s all.

I meant literally that a very large group of people that contribute to our economy in large ways every year would be like whoa what’s going on what’s up with that. I know that would happen where I live so maybe that’s just circumstantial. I think it actually HAS happened where I live lol not necessarily saying that happens everywhere but what I said stands, people in some places would be like omg wtf, etc. Nobody’s going to start a riot over looking for a missing person. Many different groups of people will have different reactions though. I think there’s also really great people and some not so great people who partake in every hobby/sport. Maybe I just know some real shitty people, absolutely possible.
Glad you pointed these things out! A whole bunch of my family are hunters. All of them since they were kids and now all the way to the current generation of children in our fam bam. Though they might be disappointed for a second to hear they wouldn't be able to hunt (money for tags and such), it would quickly turn into all of them asking "How can we help?". They know the woods here and have ATVs and other ways to get around that would be helpful too. They would NEVER put the life of others in jeopardy for a hunt. That's why they believe in teaching gun safety repeatedly. Also why they hunt...it helps feed a lot of my family.
Not saying others can't or don't feel differently. Only speaking on behalf of my family and close friends.
These are the true crime stories I looooove listening to. It’s weird because I’m super respectful of the victims but I enjoy listening and thinking about different story lines

I know more women who do have MIL problems than don't. Mine fortunately has left us alone since she realized her son wasn't going to cater to her brand of crazy anymore.
@Mandi W I wish I knew. I think some women just can't handle not being the most important woman in their sons' lives anymore. I could literally write a book about mine and her crap, but she's been out of our lives for years now and I don't want to invoke her and cause her to pop up by mentioning her too often... like Bloody Mary, but nastier temper and way more passive aggressive.

I’ve watched many episodes from various presenters about this tragedy.
If I’ve seen repeated offerings of the same story, I usually skip it.
But not with Stephanie Harlowe.
