    Hi Vanessa! Glad to see you’re liking the SealSkinz socks. I have migrated to their waterproof knee high sock for both cold and hot weather. The material is a bit like a soft neoprene and helps my boots feel comfortable and keeps my feet a consistent temperature in either extreme. I have also messed with lots of cold weather riding and use Smartwool 250gm weight base layer. It is amazing, 100% Merino wool. This summer I bought Smartwool ultralight long and short sleeved t-shirts. Longer time between washes, they almost feel like you have nothing on but compared to tech under layers the wool is a natural material which I have grown addicted to. Living your videos as always!

      Hi Eric, which socks do you recommend for hot summer days pls. Thank you.

    • @ericsweetadventure
      @ericsweetadventure 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BlackThor15 I have gone to wearing the knee high waterproof SealSkinz all of the time. They don’t overheat in hot weather and they keep you warm in winter. I ride thru winters in Canada most years. I have never had wet feet in hot months or rainy season. I don’t typically get sweaty feet anyway. Outside of my love for the SealSkinz waterproof socks, when hiking or at camp I will use 100% Merino wool. SealSkinz has some blends which Vanessa is wearing, Smartwool also makes neat pure Merino socks. I was recently turned into Darn Tough hiking socks which are great around camp, off the bike, not cheap but guaranteed forever against wear. I never put any gear in a dryer. Always cold wash, always hang dry.

      @@ericsweetadventure She is actually wearing IceBreaker socks in this video.

    • @ericsweetadventure
      @ericsweetadventure 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jamesprecious1035 You're correct, I think she says SealSkinz but clearly that's another logo on the socks. I had spoken with Vanessa regarding Sealskinz couple years ago. I still stand by my comments, Merino is awesome, IceBreaker or SealSkinz or Smartwool socks are all great. The waterproof extreme cold SealSkinz (not Merino) really work for me. In extreme heat I would maybe migrate towards Merino, as close to 100% blend as is reasonable, I would experiment between thin or thick, I like the thick and the way if fills my boot securing my feet. For anything below plus 35C the extreme cold Sealskinz still seem to work well for me but my feet don't tend to sweat. I haven't yet ridden in a prolonged plus 35C with the SealSkinz. I have ridden in Death Valley at 40C and boots will transmit reflected desert floor heat onto your boots and up under your thighs, it can get so hot that its uncomfortable to have gear contact your skin. Not sure if the Extreme cold Sealskinz technology would not still work in keeping your feet cooler in that hot environment. Be interested in hearing if anyone has tried that, used cold gear against heat? PS I actually stumbled onto SealSkinz when I wasn't able to find IceBreakers stock. Husqvarna makes/sells a branded cold sock that feels pretty much identical to the Extreme cold SealSkinz.

      Oh wow that's sounds good. I didn't realise seal skins did tops. I use ice breaker tops and then tech layers. I'll google it. Thanks

    Very good this I’m about to get back into green laning so all this can be used there.
    Haven’t got the cash for knee braces yet so just using knee pads for now but they are on the list.
    The under armour is under rated as well I think fox do one that has grip on the knee area to help your knee pads which is pretty cool.
    I’ve gone for the tech 5’s they match my new Norden 901 expedition. 😃

    The concept of hot weather technical base layer is foreign to me. It would be great if you can post links or go into more detail how base layer works in very hot and humid weather. I assume these summer hot weather base layers need to work on principle of convection.
    Love your videos. You and Lyndon Poskitt are two peas in a pod . Love the race videos. Thanks.

      Thanks for your kind words! Hot weather base layers wick sweat and help with airflow, keeping you cooler and more comfortable in humid conditions-definitely worth exploring. I’ll consider diving into more detail in a future video, so stay tuned! And thanks so much for wathing, so glad to hear you enjoyed it
