Thanks for your videos which have been a great help. I just need to now actually order a Mesa but waiting to see if then deals get any better for Black Friday.
How’s it going Andre, enjoy the videos 👍 so I tried the pellets in our new mesa xl and it was good for about 45 mins or so. But I ended up with a stove full of coal. I kept adding and it didn’t really help much. So when it was completely out I covered it , came back next morning and it was still warm. Next time I think I’ll try wood tinder and I think I like that biomass burn much more. Thanks for the video this was real helpful 👍
My favorite combo is to start with normal thumb sized hardwood and get the fire established then chuck in wood chunks. If you can't make them yourself then you can find chunked wood at most bbq/smoker aisles of hardware stores.
Hi Andre, just want to let you know. I have bought a perfect fit borosilicate glass windprotection for the mesa. Just put it on top of the mesa. On our windy balcony the flame tends to go out with just a little bit of wind. Now with the glass windprotection we can enjoy the mesa even if its windy, with a perfect flame.
I really enjoy your Mesa videos. Amazon sells stove tops and a small grill that fits them for like $15US. I'd like to see a video of you testing them out.
I have the Solo Stove Canyon with the heat deflector and certainly need to try it with one of these this winter if they put off a noticeable difference in heat!
Another great video Andre. Merry Xmas to you and the wife. Have a safe new years and will keep an eye out for the next one. We are hoping to get away over next week or two. Cheers
I tried a similar product. I got smoke. Not thick like a pellet start up but it smokes like a normal camp fire. And it’s a dark color smoke. These things are basically just saw dust mixed with paraffin. They do burn long and well in the wind so if you are in a windy situation it may be something to for others to try. But don’t expect it to be smokeless. Maybe it’s just the brand. Think I will stick to wood and pellets.
These are surprisingly cheap at $5 per log. Pretty good value, I wonder if the same could work in a charcoal chimney as a cheap alternative to the Mesa?
I tried this with the Duraflame brand log and the smoke was heavy through the whole burn. Does the smoke vary among brands? I was excited about this for the convenience, but the heavy smoke is a deal breaker for me. Any ideas...
that really depends on where in the world you are, these fire logs are $5 so very affordable here. For an 8 hour fire you'd need 3-4 so virtually the same cost as a bag of wood here.
@arcster0101 Yes it probably is, however I have 2 of these stoves in different sizes, and you will always get a very minimal amount of smoke, but trust me when I say this…….The amount of smoke is so small compared to burning a normal fire. I used to have fires in many different ways, and we always had sore eyes and could smell smoke on our clothes and hair etc, but not with these!
My chimney sweep said don’t use those logs in your fireplace unless you like paying him. You can’t cook with these logs. Sorry. No s’mores. There’s a ton of chemicals in those logs.
This is a stove. Not a campfire. Can you grill burgers or steaks with this stuff? Or will it make your food taste like KEROSENE!? You’re a really nice guy, but the way you’re treating and using this ridiculously overpriced thing (WalMart has the same item for 40 bucks), you could just as well use a steel bucket!

@@Ira88881 You are getting confused by the name of the company. Solo Stove is the company name. This product is not really a stove, it’s a decorative table top fire pit. Yes I believe you can now get cooking tops for it, but that was never its intended use! The world has moved on. People buy things for fun and decoration. We are not just trying to survive by cooking out of steel bins these days! I’d say making derogatory comments about a product that you have no knowledge of is pretty ignorant to be honest.
Ignorant boomer opinions. Mom I want McDonald's. Mom - we have McDonald's at home. Just some crappy chuck burger that was cheaper because dad says it's better from Walmart.
You should try the new HEAT DEFLECTORS that came out for the Mesa line of SoloStoves! Thanks for the videos, keep em coming! 👍🏽
Just picked up a 2 pack of Mesa XL from Costco. Thank you for the videos, great info!
Nice one!

because of you, I invested mesa… waiting for it to arrive… thank you 🙏

Now that's one very impressive burn right there my friend! Great video as well brother 👍
Thanks so much!!! I had fun with this one.
@@TheMidweekEscapeArtist That's what it's all about my brother 👍
Hope you have a very Merry Christmas man!

I’ll look into that! Sounds great!
where/what did you buy as a glass shield
I like running pellets and then when it gets low you can add little pieces of wood if you want to keep it going.
Would be interesting to see what the Mesa sidewall temperature is with each fuel type

Same to you my friend! I hope you get away!!! Enjoy the time off!
Good job! Thanks for the videos!
You are most welcome! I’m glad you liked it!
Cost comparison of fuel would be interesting.

awesome video, I ended up getting the Mesa because of your videos! I like your garage shelving - where did you get them from?

I can’t see why not!
Merry Christmas to you and all your family wish i could make video's as good as u
Same to you!!!!!

I recon it’s the accelerant they use. If you try a log without it that might not smoke as much.
I would like to know the cost effectiveness of 500g of each fuel
that really depends on where in the world you are, these fire logs are $5 so very affordable here. For an 8 hour fire you'd need 3-4 so virtually the same cost as a bag of wood here.
Can you roast marshmallows using the log?
No, too many chemicals. It’s good for heat, but I wouldn’t cook with it.
Is that not smoke I’m seeing throughout the entire burn?

no.

yep, outdoors only and only for ambiance. i don't cook with my Mesa.
I burn pine cones in mine
Really?? I need to try that.

The Solo stove was probably inspired by people using washing machine drums for bon fires. We use the drums in the desert. Keeps everything neat.
