    make sure you take a hammer and some type of screw driver or something and you lock the clutch bolt back into place. idk if its like that on those quads but for mine you got to lock it in place.

    You need a plastic tray and do that on a bench :-)
    I would check the gears with dogs and the detents they drop into. Those will have tell tale signs of hard hard abuse when changing gears. The dogs should be flat and have pretty square edges - meaning not smashed in or rounding over. I'm replacing mine in the Project XR/XL600 - i got a whole transmission set for $60 used in like new cond from ebay. Depending on cost - you can have the crank rebuilt as well, that's the path i took, but my parts are much harder to find being an 87. The way to look at it is you have it COMPLETELY apart now - change all the bearings and inspect the trans gears - you dont want to have to split the case again :-)

      Tony Campbell you not riding hard enough lol. I’ve had all kinds of bikes in the past 10 years since I’ve started riding and soon as I graduated I bought a 2013 straight off the showroom floor. Within a month I had to take it back because it wouldn’t go into 3rd wide open throttle and didn’t have 5th at all. Within a year of having it I tore 5th out again and had to rebuild it myself. Had a built 660 that did the same exact thing. I don’t know if it’s cause we do a lot of wide open highway riding/drag racing or not but they’re not that strong if you ride hard. I’ve also had plenty of buddies with brand new stock bikes throw rods and ruin the entire motor.

    From what I read the hotrod cranks aren’t that bad . It’s the wiseco that have problems . The wiseco pistons are awesome but the cranks have bad reviews . I think the wiseco pistons are the best . I have a 1998 Cr 250 and I just had it rebuilt with a pro x piston . It seems to be slightly slower . But that might just be cause it’s not broke in yet . Your videos are awesome . Really appreciate your videos. Make sure to take a vacation with your future wife too bro.

      @briang4470 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jasonward9559 it's very easy to mess up and not get thr crank true, the best bet is to have a machinist that has a good truing stand do it because if the crank has too much run out it will shake the bike to death and if the webs aren't perfectly centered, bad things can happen, I would not reccomend someone with his skill level attempt something like that especially if he is selling this bike to someone, you dont want to sell someone a bike with a shady crank, just my opinion, yes I can be done but I would not reccomend

    • @briang4470
      @briang4470 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@OGKILLa9365 yep rebuilding a crank is definently something a novice should not do, let a professional crank rebuilder/machinist do the job because one mistake can kill the crank or even shake the engine to death by being out of true. Rebuilding one requires very delicate adjustments and assembly, just eyeballing it isn't good enough you have to be precise about it.

    There's no issues using hotrod cranks.. theres a reason they are one of the top brands.. or wrench rabbit they are both good ive had a hotrod crank in one of my 400ex's for over 8 years and it has a big bore kit and ported and polished head and full valve job etc and tons of power its a +6mm stroker and it runs amazing never had to open it back up since I built it. Don't listen to the internet they are idiots most of the time. Do what you want .. with the 3xception of wiseco. They are junk piston kits.. there are alot more good brands to use i own the local Honda dealership/repair shop in my area and I've rebuilt plenty of 400ex's and they comeback for regular maintenance but no issues ..

      It's a 2006 honda metropolitan if that will help, I got it for free from a neighbor he said he took it to a shop and they said he had an airbox leak so dirt got in and ruined the rings, I'm hoping the cylinder is fine because I can find one anywhere.

      Larry Warner Yea. Because using a rubber cup like a fire starter is way different then a drill rotating. Now. I would agree if it’s a new valve grind. But to check if they are bent and sealing. A drill for the win. I’ll let you comment again say how it’s gay and let you have the last word
