I enjoyed the walk around on the fifth wheel hitch. I have the rails and use a gooseneck plate, which does get in the way when I went to haul lumber or whatever.

Where do you connect your emergency brake cord. I don't see a spot to hook it to.
I always pulled the drivers side pin on the top play and ran my emergency cord through their. I just put the cotter pin back in after I attached the cord. I no longer have the camper so I can take a picture for you.

I have a B&W Companion except it's not a slider. I use two small chains crisscrossed across the plate and my hay spear to set it in the truck. You can reach all the way to the hole.
A slider is cheap insurance. I know someone who struck the fibreglass nosecap with their truck. $1600 to fix nosecap. Unknown for the truck. He did not have the dent repaired.
I own a 2019 RAM 2500 with the puck system. I use a Curt A20 fifth wheel with slider. Using a shop Crane & DEMCO Model 6100 lifting hook, I lift the hitch in/out with ease. In my opinion, the puck system is easier, and safer, than the B&W gooseneck system.

Pretty good explanation but what I'm trying to decide is if all the weight is resting on the bed and will it damage or bend my bed where it rests. I have a new F-150 with the Max Towing package, Eco Boost 3.5 and 6.5 bed and I don't want to damage anything. I was a 21 yr Technician at a Ford Dealer until a few yrs ago so I have plenty of knowledge about installing all this stuff, etc. Thank. Larry R.
I haven't had any problems like that and I've had this setup for 4 years on my 2013 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD.
Great video! I am just about to use the exact same sliding Companion hitch I have for my Turnover Ball receiver on my 2016 Silverado 2500HD crew cab with a 6.5' bed. I just bought a Grand Design fifth wheel and have yet to pick it up, so I have high hopes. In my case, the dealer who sold me the hitch setup actually sanded the pads down to accommodate the "crowned" (i.e. not flat) pickup bed that the 2011-2019 GM's have. The only thing that concerns me is that I notice that the Companion's shank does not fully bottom into the receiver socket even when torqued down (as visible from underneath the truck). I guess its okay since presumably several inches of the Companion's support "runners" are directly over the turnover ball structure under and flush with the bed floor, but it does make me question how much of the hitch weight is actually carried by the truck bed sheet metal with this design.
I love this hitch. I had a 42 foot Salem Hemisphere and the truck and hitch did great towing it. I had to sell the camper as part of the divorce but keeping the hitch because I plan on buying another 5th wheel camper in the future. Thanks for watching and commenting.
I bought the same slider in November and I get a pop when I accelerate from a traffic light. It's pretty loud. Have you experienced anything like this with yours?
Yes, mine does it. Not all the time. I can't figure out where it's coming from.
