  • This is a walk climbing two less popular munros in the Northern Cairngorms from the Linn O' Dee. It's a longish day, with 8.5 hours of walking and cycling. While these munros are less tall than their immediate neighbours, they do offer magnificent views of their larger neighbours, particularly towards Ben Macdui.
It was a hot summers day when I did this walk, with some early morning low cloud and fog offering a cooler start.

Enjoyed watching this, thank you for sharing.
Had actually planned these two for the weekend, but, I opted out and camped closer to home. You really got lucky with the clear sky for those fantastic views. I don’t think I would fancy it in bad visibility, be a bit of a challenge, the steep decent looks like much care needed. Thank you again for showing us your route, much appreciated… 👍

Thank you for posting your video. The OS map doesn’t show any paths leading up to Beinn a Chaorainn from the Glen Avon area but there seemed to be a track that you went down. I’m planning a 3 day route that will start at Glenmore Lodge, go over Bynack More, Beinn Mheadhoin, Derry Cairngorm and probably up to Ben Macdui on the way back. It would be good to be able to visit Beinn a Chaorainn too while I’m there to grab another Munro. I’m on TH-cam looking for routes and yours was helpful. I’m going at the start of April so I’m hoping that there won’t be too much snow. Thanks again
