    craig biggio should talk to him, i remember biggio many years ago spent some time contemplating leaving to make more money elsewhere but he was very happy in houston and he took to spend time at a church to really think about it and ended up staying in houston and the rest is history

      According to Biggio in an interview, the Astros raised the offer enough to his liking, or maybe the exact amount he wanted, that he literally signed with the astros with about a minute left before he signed with the Colorado Rockies. It was for money that he stayed with the astros, not nostalgia, for in his mind, he was gone!!!

      I'd be willing to pay him $30 million per year, at no more than 3 years, with a player option in year 1 and a team option in year 3. That's it. No more. But then I'm like, I possibly couldn't stand to watch him pop up just about every time he comes up to bat with runners in scoring position!!!

    I have no idea why we keep ignoring the outfield need. Altuve is 5'6"..
    We gave up the opportunity for Santander
    We gave up the opportunity for Profar
    Now we are about to give up the opportunity for Luis Robert. I can't wrap my head around this. All so we can have a 3rd baseman who we ALREADY REPLACED.

    Actually, Bregman made $30.5 million in Houston last year on the fifth year of a rear rear loaded $100 million contract. I’m a little tired of this argument that he wants that or more going forward or it will be a decrease in pay. The fact is, over the last five years he made $20 million a year. The Astros, at 156/6, are offering him $26 million a year. I could see maybe Houston going to 171/6. But I think the current offer is fair. I also don’t understand where they thought they were goingwith Jorge Polanco. Supposedly, Polanco would have played second base, and Altuve would have largely gone to that field. So if Bregman comes back to play third base, what was their plan for Paredes, who they’ve been big on for awhile now? A lot of confusion in this whole deal.

    I don't understand the fascination. He doesn't want to come here. At this point the Astros are the highest bidder. Why would you give him more. I think 156 is too much now. Bc he's been an Astro I would just ask him to take it or walk away. You have to walk away. Play those rookies

    If the Astros "meet in the middle" with Bregman, then this shows they're not serious! THEY"RE NEGOTIATING AGAINST THEMSELVES and the fans have moved on! THE ASTROS MOVED ON!! We need an OF'er, not Bregman's butt!

  • @Rob-vc1bx
    @Rob-vc1bx วันที่ผ่านมา +1

    Bregman was plan A but when he turned down 6/156m, then he became plan B and the Tucker trade became plan A. Don't confuse this - Bregman did all of this. He could have easily told Boras to get a deal done JUST like Altuve did. We didn't have this drama with Altuve. Bregman and Altuve have the same agent.
    If the Astros spend more money on Bregman and he starts off slow, the crowd is going to let him hear it. Boo Birds will be loud.

    If Bregman really wants to stay home with us then he needs to commit as soon as possible. Dana Brown and the front office is hamstrung until he commits because they cannot finalize their roster: the roster of which Bregman will be a part. If he wants to hit in a better lineup then he needs to give his front office the best chance to put more pieces around him if they are going to do so. While we wait for him to squeeze the last drop of blood out of the Astros, all the other pieces are being taken off the table.

    The argument that Bregman has ties to so many teams doesn’t really hold water for me. Just because a player knows one or two players well on another team is a non-factor as far as I’m concerned. He knows every player on the Astros. He has a history with these players. He is tight with the manager And the owner. He is good friends with Jose Altuve, a future Hall of Famer. That man is willing to give up his position to help Bregman get back. And from a business point of view, no one has made a better offer to Bregman than his own team.
    And from a business point of view, let’s not forget the fact that any of those other cities pay about 5% sales tax in their state. He would pay none in Texas. With the kind of money he’s talking about, $28.5 million in Boston, for example would be about $27 million a year in Houston. Something to think about.

    • @LockedOnAstros
      @LockedOnAstros  วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@stevennachlas9596 oh I am not saying that because of any ties he has with the clubs that those relationships, whether it’s singular or plural meaning multiple players that that is what persuade him to go there. My entire point of being of mentioning this is that it’s not very often that you see a free agent being sought after by multiple teams where he seemingly has ties with past teammates. That was my only point maybe I overstated it, but I thought it was rather peculiar that he had some sort of legacytie with each one of the people that are in the cities where he is being looked at other words, men that were on either one or both of the World Series teams with him actually, it would only be one each, but you understand where I’m going with that. Thank you for your thoughts. I appreciate it.

    • @Mario-it3po
      @Mario-it3po 14 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      Dismantle the astros legacy??? What are you talking about??? The astros did right in not paying the crazy contracts the other teams paid Springer and Correa. They priced themselves out of Houston. Their contracts are literally dead weight now for their respective teams. This Bregman contract the astros offered him is too long. If he signs here for that much, that contract will be dead weight after about 2 years. Just watch, if he signs here or elsewhere! The team must evolve with new players to keep atop in the standings. If the team is not moving forward, with new players hungry to win, then the team would just be spinning its wheels! You just cannot be a contending team with the same core of players fore 10 years or more. You need change and incentivised players that are motivated to win!

    I say unfocused on Bregman. He had his chance and took a hard pass. The organization went out and filled not only Bregman's position but also addressed the lack of offense at 1B. Between Paredes and Walker they more than made up Bregman's stats. Save the money. Sign Hunter Brown and see how this season plays out. If they are competitive near the trade deadline then go out at find an outfielder that possesses some offense. Simple.
