One of the reasons I like this song is the choice of the duduk, not just for what it adds to the music itself, but because of symbolism. The duduk is one of the cultural symbols of Armenia and Armenians, and at the time, the Armenian Kingdom of Cilicia (long story) not only allied with the crusaders but owed its continued existence to the crusades. It's a cry for help that is answered by the templars. I am quite happy for this inclusion, however intentional or unintentional it is, but regardless, I listen to this and other tracks when I write.

One of my favourite historical anecdotes comes from one of the later Crusades, where King Charles was marching through France on his way to embark, and encountered a priest being dragged off to jail. It turned out the priest had been robbed and, forgetting to turn the other cheek, chased after the thief and beat him to death. Charles enlisted the guy on the spot.

My absolute fave on the album. I especially love the awesome part with just the bass (?) and the guitar in the background that starts at 2:39 (and again at 6:55). Can't get enough of that.

The earth cracked and rumbled the land had long been scorched into oblivion by orbital bombardment but it did little to dig out the well fortified heretical defenders. Soon the sky was filled with drop ppds and gunships as endless soldiers armed with lazguns and faith reigned down the emperor of mans fury upon those that had turned their backs on the imperium of man. Men swarmed the battle field dressed in hulking armor of black and red each one of them standing at 7 feet tall they cry out for the emperor as they clash with demons of rot and decay as portals to the warp rip themselves asunder spilling forth the vile inhabitants of the chaos realm of nurgle as titans march across the battlefield in response firing their massive cannons unleashing the power of the sun upon the hellish warzone. Countless men are killed in the firing of the cannon their flesh burned the demons melted by the heat.. then it fires again and again..
