i think theres some ettic involved. i always let the first collector finish digging before i go in. if he finds the sup oh well good for the person. if i find it, well finders keepers. but its first come first serve

I'm typically first to my usual stops,however if I was late and saw someone new snag a super I'd be bummed,but I'd rather make a friend than a enemy,especially if they were a REAL collector because having a friend in the hobby is Way more VALUABLE 😉

I live in Indiana, and from what I've been told by other local collectors, there are a few older guys that have connections with stockers in almost all of the superstores around me, so no matter how early I get to the pegs, inevitably it has already been picked through and I'm left with the scraps. It's so disheartening... I don't go crazy taking all the jdms, civics, porsches or whatever hot models there are (basically what I'm trying to say is I don't hoard). All I want is basically one of the castings I like, and two of each that I really like (one for keeping carded, and another to have loose). It makes my blood boil when some collectors think that just because they "get there first" or have connections entitles them to hoard dozens of the same casting or multiple rare cars. I don't care if it's your personal collection or you resell (which imo is scummier), hoarding is hoarding, and you're ruining the fun of collecting for everyone else. For reference, I've been hunting for around seven years now and I still have not found a single super treasure hunt.
The best thing I've ever found is a Mazda RX-7 FC Pandem chase car from the Ronin Run set, and you can bet I was saying "screw you scalpers" under my breath as I was checking out of that store.

time at target i saw a awtoworld box in the boat i was waiting for the stocker to put them up,then another collector show up and grab the Aworld box and open it front of me,that kinda fiss me off coz i was there first and just waiting for the stocker to put them. when he open it theres a chase inside

First come first served! Unless if you’re begging for cases from employees. I knew a couple collectors that seem to always pallet raided or beg for cases or even beg for truck information. All I say is it comes when it comes just be there when it rolls out. Early bird gets the worm.

So we do a road trip hunting every 2 weeks or so , he drives and we hit every Walmart / store with hot wheels along the way .
3hrs from home , we stop into a new grocery store , unaware of where the hotwheels are , we split up to look for pegs . I find them , case on the top shelf too . I go through the half case and find a super Mercedes from 2023 b case . As he comes up behind me .
He was happy for me , but obviously bummed . And that was the longest , quietest drive home I’ve ever had .
Like you said bittersweet , I just wanted to be happy , and he feigned happiness for me . But I could tell he was mad I found it , and I wouldn’t have , had he not drove me there .

Yeah, that's fair play. Either share half of pegs or patiently wait. I know collector, who tries to reach Walmarts in area starting 7:00 AM on Friday and Saturday - this is the most usual time when the cars just have been pegged. He scores good amount of STH, and when we find one, he always leave regular TH on the pegs (this is as per his words). Also fair towards other people.
Most of the drops, lately, have been the same cases. I went hunting early, today and ran into 2 collectors (?). Greeter them, no reply. I also noticed, they won't look you in the eyes. I gave them space as they seemed a little possessed. I hunt for fun, no need to have them mess it up for me.
It sucks, but it is what it is. Walked into Walmart at 6:12 AM a couple weeks ago and as I enter see a guy with a handful of about 15 Hot Wheels exiting the building. I took the "L" on the day.

If someone is in front of me I wait until they are done. Most of the collectors I have run into have been friendly.
Nobody owns the pegs. The other person cannot push you to grab the cars either. But the car is kept by the one who gets it first. As simple as that.
I'm always the minute late guy. I don't get upset. It's not the other collectors fault. I congratulate them.
FYI, the Mitsubishi 2 Pack is going $25-$35 on Whatnot right now.

Man, wtf. Youre first, you get first dibs. Ive been next to multiple collectors finding supers in the same bin as me or same pegs. As long as we were cool at first, i just cheer with em. Hot wheels collecting should be fun.

Last year, While I was Walmart hunting, a guy suddenly shouldered me just moments after I arrived. Being with my kid, I allowed him to browse through the pegs. As I began to walk away, I noticed a fresh pallet had been dropped, revealing a team transport sealed case. Curious, I reached for it to inspect its contents when the same guy approached me, claiming ownership of the pallet since I was at the pegs first. Ignoring his claim, I placed the case in my cart and continued exploring the pallet. Suddenly, he snatched the case from my cart and used a Swiss knife from his keychain to open it. Disappointingly, there was nothing new inside. He sheepishly returned the case to my cart and walked away. Witnessing such behavior was awkward. Fortunately, it remains my only awkward encounter in over 15 years of collecting and hunting.
Yea I know most of the collectors in my area and this was one of the weirdest scenarios in a while. Hopefully they correct their behavior next time

I've had that happen to me, I was there a few minutes before, and was searching the pegs, and another collector was trying to distract me, but I pulled a STH, front and center!
Value aside, I think that's the best looking super of the year.

You did what's right. You gave him his space and as long as you didn't reach over and take it from his pegs, you were entitled to take it. You search with consistency- it always produces in cycles.

Collectors get salty like crazy , just like the scalpers and Im sure even worse. Bottom line is the stuff is for sale at retail and anyone can buy anything they want. I'm not in this to support other collectors. I buy what I want and I put massive effort into finding it.
I have been collecting for 20 yrs still haven't found any TH or STH but have found 2 factory defects one 32 ford with mag wheels on back an standard on front another this year a green suv on its side in case as for people who come up an try to push you out of the way happens a couple times a year to me i just stand my ground til im done if someone is looking when i get there i just walk around shop until they have finished don't need to get into a fight over a $2:00 car . couple of days ago was lucky to find the gulf coloured ford Daytona on short card need to find one more to open anyway happy hunting good video 🚬👽🦘💩🇦🇺
Another thing people don’t realize is the person you’re being negative towards might have the biggest collection in the world and would have anything you need. Better to make a connection than an enemy!!!

I think it really depends on the type of guy you're dealing with, maybe he was a scalper and missed out on an extra $50 so he was mad. Maybe he was just having a bad day and this made him feel worse. And I think you did a good job even letting him take a look at the other half, I know some people who would hog the pegs until they got everything good. Thankfully there's one really kind collector in my area who always lets me take a look with him whenever he gets to the pegs first and I get there a minute or two later. But for the others I can't say the same.

I’m always late to the pegs… 😂😂 I have learned to accept that... it’s when I’m not hunting I always find the good stuff... all of my Super TH finds were at Walgreens, Dollar Tree & Big Lots.. I stay away from Walmart & Target.. Employees are in on it.

I would worry about it. First come, first serve. Yes not getting something sucks but life goes on. If this hobby is so important you have to start to look at other parts of life and see what is really important. Keep an open to all options on what you can get to keep an open mind to collecting.

I usually have had issues with older bald fat dudes. Theyre like the worst. Theres just that hot wheels collector stereotype. Ive seen it in another video with Cali Collector two days ago. If someone gets first dig at it thats great. I still get to go home to my family.

It took me 3 years to find my first one. It happened just a few weeks ago I found the Ford Escort super. Hang in there and keep hunting it'll happen and it's a great feeling when it does.

I've fortunately had mostly really good or neutral experiences with this. Only had one bad experience. Flea market guy was busy talking and thought I snagged what he was looking for. I think they ended up kicking him out of the store.
You put in the leg work and gas money you deserve to get what you hunt for.

I hate running into other collectors they always distract me by talking and then I just lose interest in hunting. And some are bold and I have no patience for that. People reaching into your cart or stepping in front of you. I will throw down if someone pulls that S***!

Don't be that guy..it makes other people's jobs way harder after you go through freight that could possibly be over stock..you mess up inventory numbers if those boxes have been labeled already..unless you have permission to touch boxes on a pallet don't be an asshole

This is why i get nervous when i see a big wall, or bin that is fresh. I know you feel obliged to create content but i panic someone else may swoop in and grab the goodies i wanted even tho i got there first. Not that i feel entitled to the entire bin or wall. Depends on the quantity. If its only a few pegs, i wait till the first guy is done. For massive amounts each person can have their own space.
People are really ridiculous these days. I wouldn't feel bad about it one bit because if the shoe was on the other foot I guarantee you he wouldn't have been so nice to step aside and give you some space so don't worry about it. In my area it's ruthless and you get what you can get and you better get what you can when you get the chance or it'll all be gone in no time. I've had many collectors basically try to push me out of the way to get to stuff and I learned fast that being a jerk back to these guys is the best way to be. Sucks but it is what it is. Now I always let kids dig and find stuff first so they have a chance to score cool stuff but the adults I don't cut any slack.

If you're genuinely walking out with everything the pegs had--multiples of everything, leaving nothing--I think you deserve the other person's ill will. That said, if you gave him half the pegs, then you did what you could. On the other hand, did you give him the half of the pegs that you'd already looked through and taken everything from? If so, then you didn't really give him anything.
