I love the calmness in your videos and that you allow enough time to actually see the details in the lovely example photos you provide. Informative, peaceful and pretty. Thank you
I particularly like French Country style because it is timeless and not as overdone as other styles of decorating. We're going through "what's trendy" here in the states and I'm now looking for a timeless look like FC. Very nice indeed.
I have a budget of $0 for home decorating at present but your videos feed my home fantasies and keep me happy and planning til circumstances change! Thank you very much. : D
Good luck Grey Sky. The fabulous thing about any country look is that imagination and creativity go far. Reinvent, upcycle, thrift and fleamarket shop. You'll get the best and cheapest results that way. French style is curvy, utilizes black metal, accessorizes with shutters, open shelving, country fabrics, anything blue, like cornflower blue, old pottery and so on. Prayers are with you. S
"the best video for taking the time to not just show photos but to explain the process and you look wonderful because your make up is great for your face"💓💚💛

Really enjoyed the video. We live in a converted barn in rural Berkshire in the UK, built at the end of the 19th century. We have incorporated several provencal elements combined with classic English antiques and it creates the same effect but grounded in the UK. We have limestone and oak floors on the ground floor and oak upstairs, exposed oak beams and soft white walls with colour added through textiles, art and ceramics. It really is a versatile style that can be adapted to incorporate the local vernacular. ❤

I am learning so much from all the fabulous advice, photography, information and decorations in your blogs! We are in the beginning process of designing our retirement home. I have always wanted an English or French Country Cottage. Thank you!
I built a Greek pilloried Georgian home. Complete with nine over nine floor to ceiling windows, and French doors throughout. Also, six chandeliers, five wood burning fireplaces. Chaise lounges, cane bed commissioned in France, and all things French in the furnishings. Lace curtains from Paris behind gorgeous satin taffeta drapes. My floors in the common areas, such as, the lounge, kitchen, butler’s pantries, and utility room, were hand laid used brick. In the dinning room there was a French walnut table taken straight from France, to the dock, to my home! The morning room had a family heirloom black seven layered enamel oval table, and commissioned black tall ladder back chairs. The nine foot curtains in a ten foot high ceiling were red and white cotton gingham with small black ball fringe trim. Of course, White marble with black granite diamonds was the rigor diem for formal entrance. He library floor was covered in “Persian” like carpet…. I personally mixed all of my colors, including trims. They were the perfect backdrop for a mix of American Southern, French interior. After my husband died, it was better for me to move from my gated community with its large separation of homes with land. But, my heart stays true to my “magnum opus”, and hope to do another home, perhaps French Provincial with a mansard roof! Thank you for your wonderfully English preciseness in this presentation. Bon Voyage on your next trip! Hope you have just the right great French finds!♥️🌟
Hi Dear! Sorry I'm only just seeing your comment now😖 Your home sounds completely immense & darling (and authentic I might add). The exterior of the house you described sounds like the ones I mentioned in my Sweet Magnolia's video? Charleston type homes. If you do another home (french provincial style) do let me know how it goes🤗💗 I'm sorry to hear about your husband, you're in my prayers 🙏 Best wishes & Take care 💗💗
I am so happy to have found your channel! This video was perfection in so many ways...calm, soothing and informative!! Just what I need in my life. I had the privilege of living in France as a boursière and grad student when I was in my 20s and my favorite memories of Provence include Aix, St. Paul de Vence and St. Raphael. I hope to visit some of the smaller villages some day. Until then I was thrilled to recognize that many of the French touches I've incorporated into our home relate to French Country style. Thank you for your lovely work and best wishes from San Diego, California! Gros bisous ! ❤❤
Hi Debra! Sorry I'm only seeing your comment now!!! 😱 Oh my word you're so lucky! I don't know if you watched our French travel vlog, but strangely we visited all of the places you mentioned🧡 I was in Aix on my birthday! I completely love the De L'esterel coastline with it's red rocks🏜️ (St Raph, Frejus area) it felt so laid-back compared to Cannes & Monaco etc. Although we loved Menton! 🍋 Thank you for your warm wishes & story🥹 I am sending love to you in San Diego 🏴➡️🇺🇲💓 A bientot! 💓💓
Love this video! A few years back, I went to a friend's wedding in Normandy and managed to visit Claude Monet's home. It was a truly special place with so many gardens filed with flowers. Highly recommend a visit there, but it is quite busy so have patience and take your time!
J. Well, you definitely nailed it with this entire video. How about a Tuscan, Italian Provincial et al video next? All the best regards and Best Wishes for your continued success.
Thank you Monique! 🤗Where abouts in Florida? I have visited Daytona, Ft Lauderdale, Tampa & Orlando. We are *hoping* to go to Orlando next year☀️ Sending love from Scotland 💌🏴
French Cottage / French Country is definitely pulling on me. I loved everything I saw in this video. I live in beautiful San Diego, but would love to have a little French Cottage in the country or more rural area. Thank you for such a beautiful video. I will be traveling to France in less than a week... my first trip.
Thank you for this thorough and lovely summary of French country styles. Since the word Chinoiserie is a French word to express the Chinese style of decor, would you say chinoiserie is found in a certain region of France primarily? Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Julie 🌷
Chinese decor primary was found in Château or manors because only people(noble or a rich land owner)with money can afford it. But today you used all over the country is like, white and blue porcelain. You can used in chateau style and provensal or farmhouse decor.
Hi Julie! Speaking from a personal point of view, I would see these decorations / furniture in large ornate palaces in France, not centralized to a particular region per say. Most chateau these days are bought by expats or french people and done up to their own interior style. But a lot of the remaining chateaux (not residential) are now museums and can have a nod to older styles like chinoiserie elements. In regards to Provencal/ Provence homes, I wouldn't say chinoiserie was seen amongst the interior; its proximity to the Med means they go for more rustic terracotta pots etc. However, if you're looking for chinoiserie, look up Brighton Pavillion UK- it has the largest collection of chinoiserie I have ever seen😊🙌
Stunning! I have always been a fan of the French country style, after cheering for my own country. Thank you for your wonderful presentation. I really enjoy everything, from explanation to how you carry yourself. Cheers, Dani!
Thank you so much Daniela! I truly appreciate your comment, sorry I'm only just seeing it now😖 Thank you for your kind words, see you in the next video🤗❤
Oh thank you darling! It's just from Primark here in the UK. It's just a classic striped Bardot top, I'm sure you'll be able to find one online similar 🙏❤️
I feel like french country and shabby chic can have a bad reputation because of the 90s 2000s reproductions and premade distressed furniture. But really they are pretty styles if done authentically. Also these styles probably wont look good in your modern mcmansion but if you live in an older smaller home it definitely could work
This is the first time I'm hearing of a mcmansion & you've made my day🤣🤣🤣 I love that phrase and you're so spot on. I remember JLo (I think it was her) having a shabby chic interior at one point (actually I think she has that know too haha). Thanks for your comment ❤️
McMansions are an eyesore all over the American suburbs. Huge amounts of wasted space (hello heating and cooling bills!) and fakery! They eat up all the yard space. I prefer my smaller house. I live in the Southwest, and there are lots of parallels with Provence. I’m resurrecting my French past and going for a French Country look in my retirement. Merci, très belle vidéo ! 😊
@@dantierandbalogh 😊A McMansion is a derogatory term for the modern boxy, soulless cookie-cutter 2-story home. Nowadays, sizes range from 2500-4500sq ft. It depends upon the neighborhood. 🔨They started to spring up in new home track 🏘 developments as early as the 90s. With 💰burgeoning wealth for the middle class, they grew larger in stature in the 2000s. They also moved slightly further to the outskirts of greater LA. 😉The more recent builds tend to have a handsome Mediterranean type flair. They are NOT all ugly or eyesores, but they certainly can be a blight 🙄 plopped in the middle of single story ranch style community. Plus, nobody wants a neighbor 👁👁peeking over their backyard fence from an elevated height🤣. 📩Sending love from US🇺🇸 💚Bridget from Cali☘️ (using my pal's YT acct)
I love the french style of decoration! I love the ones from the-17 century, I love the elegant style , do you do videos like that ! It just shabby chic, or French country! I am kind of tired of it! I love some of the tips of different styles of furniture!
Shabby chic is affordable for many who can't afford quality antiques. Personally I'd rather save for a beautiful antique than a piece of modern furniture that will wear out in ten years. And sometimes antiques are just as affordable, but people people don't consider furnishing with them for various reasons.
😉Antiques are all well & grand, but not always available or 💲affordable in all locations. In my neck of the woods on the 😎 West Coast 🌊, it's easier to find mass produced vintage reproductions of an item. 🖌Adding a light brushing of white wash on top does a lot to disguise a tacky 20th Century veneered finish🤍. 🤗 Do love & wholly admire 🏰 Chateau style elegance⚜️, but I'm more of a country girl❤. Not necessarily shabby chic, but I like sturdy rustic furnishings that look a bit weathered & chippy. Like it's lived & been loved through many generations. 😁Shy away from anything that's too precious, pristine, or formal. Would find it hard to be at ease surrounded by all museum quality furnishings & decor. 💚Bridget from Cali☘️ (using my pal's YT acct)
What would you say are the main home decor differences between French Country/Provincial vs English Country/Cottage besides color scheme? I see a lot of overlap between the two-including some of furniture, accessories, materials, prints/patterns.
Hi thanks so much for your comment!! That's such a good question I may even do a whole video dedicated to it!😄 I find french furniture much more refined in my opinion. For example they would have wooden rimmed sofas (cabriole) whereas we wouldn't have that in the UK; UK is more comfy like a cottage sofa (particularly with a slip cover). English country is mostly known as English cottage in my opinion (if you need to find inspo online). Personally I think French country is more elegant whilst English country is a little rougher haha - EC is much more rustic whilst french country is sophisticated. Patterns vary greatly to me and the main thing is furniture - french is light & shabby chic / painted pastels whilst English is almost always dark / oak. Lighting is a HUGE difference, I would never see a chandelier in an English country/cottage home EVER 😂 😂 I could go on and on, maybe I do a video on it?🤔
@@dantierandbalogh yes please! Both of them are huge interior trends atm, and a lot of people seem to conflate the two, so it’d be nice to see a dedicated video differentiating them.
@@dantierandbalogh Yes! PLEASE do!! ...You are brilliant by the way, and if you aren't working for one of the big design houses ...either furniture or import companies ...I'd be surprised ...you have talent dripping from your fingertips. You remind me of an English Kylie Flaveli (sp?) who is promoting the Italian country way of life and food whilst living in Italy. You are both elegant and beautiful girls. ❣ ~Tara (kindlydude's wife)
@@dantierandbalogh 😊Yes please, a comparison of the two would be amazing. I'm torn between 'em❤. Truly love that earthy, country connection with the land. Grew up in a 🐎equestrian suburb (that allows a mix of 🐓🐐livestock🐄) on & around Verdugo Mtns of LA. We have horse trails that wind around thru our community. 🥵Our Mediterranean/Desert climate can be harsh🌡. ☀️The fact we're drenched in sun lends itself to Provencal lifestyle, but the original inhabitants were not anywhere near the Gentry class. Common salt of the earth, ranching types. My dad spent his youth on cattle🐂 ranches my grandparents managed down at our border. Most of the homes here are rugged ranch style, but my family's MCM ranch home was inspired by architect Frank Llyod Wright. On a terraced hillside lot, massive picture windows to canyon views, & lots of natural wood interior. 🪨 We do have a handful of rustic stone cabin cottages from late 1800s here, but the majority were lost in subsequent earthquakes (& have been banned). Granite stones were the only thing plentiful for building in early days. Most of our 🌳trees🌲 were imported from other areas: oaks, pine, eucalyptus, olive, jacaranda & much more. We also have a smattering of cabins. Some Spanish, Victorian, & Craftsman style woven in. Newer inhabitants are replacing smaller homes up to 1800sq ft on our much bigger lots w/boxy 2-story McMansions 3000-4500sq ft. 😡Some ppl HATE it, but they can blend in some cases. We live in the Eastern SF Valley. In those early days, we had apple🍎 orchards on our fringes & other produce🥕 farms. The West side once had huge 🍊citrus🍋 orchards. Of course, they replaced 'em w/more ranch homes after WWII. 😘Outstanding overview of French Country. ❤Love the palette, finishes & vibe〰️but def lack sophistication. French Doors are stunning, but left open w/o screens here invites all manner of wild 🦝🐍critters🦎🦨 indoors. 💚Bridget from Cali☘️ (using my pal's YT acct)

I would love to see France. ❤
If you get the chance, AbsoLUTELY! ❤️🇲🇫
France is not that great. Spain is beautiful
Beautiful!
🥰🥰
Love this video! A few years back, I went to a friend's wedding in Normandy and managed to visit Claude Monet's home. It was a truly special place with so many gardens filed with flowers. Highly recommend a visit there, but it is quite busy so have patience and take your time!
Is that the place with the gardens too? We always planned to go when we were in France but never had time🥲🥲
J. Well, you definitely nailed it with this entire video. How about a Tuscan, Italian Provincial et al video next? All the best regards and Best Wishes for your continued success.
I will 100% add it to my video list! Thank you so much for your kind wishes! Sending love from Scotland 💌🏴
Very informative .. merci 🇫🇷❤
🤗🤗💙🤍❤️
Beautiful! Some aspects of the French Provençal style truly resonate with me - I enjoyed your in-depth discussion of it.
❤ from sunny Florida USA
Thank you Monique! 🤗Where abouts in Florida? I have visited Daytona, Ft Lauderdale, Tampa & Orlando. We are *hoping* to go to Orlando next year☀️ Sending love from Scotland 💌🏴
French Cottage / French Country is definitely pulling on me. I loved everything I saw in this video. I live in beautiful San Diego, but would love to have a little French Cottage in the country or more rural area. Thank you for such a beautiful video. I will be traveling to France in less than a week... my first trip.
Oh wow! Safe travels (you must be on your vacation by now?) Have the most amazing time, you'll love it🥰🇫🇷🇫🇷 Thank you for your lovely words too xx
i love French decor try to have a similar look at my tudor like house wow beautiful all styles thank for sharing
Pretty- looking 4 French modern
French modern! Wow that's a great idea thank you!
You can see it all over the country, not have a specific region
I loved this video. Thank you so much!
No thank YOU for watching! I appreciate it more than you know 🙏🙏
Stunning! I have always been a fan of the French country style, after cheering for my own country. Thank you for your wonderful presentation. I really enjoy everything, from explanation to how you carry yourself. Cheers, Dani!

Wonderful video :-) also, where is your shirt from? I love it.

Imyou have confirmed that I have all of the stapele/elements pieces -- im jumping with glee 🎉Thank you🤭🥰🤭🥰
So glad I could help! I'm sure your home looks very authentic 🇫🇷🤍
Great ideas!
Thank you!!!
What is the paint color of the French country blue?
I would recommend rustoleum chalk paint in 'powder blue' OR 'belgrave'
I love the french style of decoration! I love the ones from the-17 century, I love the elegant style , do you do videos like that ! It just shabby chic, or French country!
I am kind of tired of it!
I love some of the tips of different styles of furniture!
Of course! We do all kinds of different styles on the channel 🤗🤗
In my neck of the woods on the
😎 West Coast 🌊, it's easier to find mass produced vintage reproductions of an item.

I think EC would have more academia, bird cages, library elements, hunting boots, leather touches, etc. Definitely no lemons, unless in tea!
