Doing that is bad for the transmission especially at high speed. Damages the synchros. Need actual quick shifter that properly kills timing.

Not true.... it's fine to do if you have a wet clutch

I was always told it’s ok on upshifts and if you have a slipper clutch is ok for downshifts, but I’m not a mechanic, and a quickshifter is probably a better option.
