Okuma Komodo SS (KDS 364LX) review

A new baitcaster to me and here’s my review. It features stainless gears and shaft, aluminium spool and frame with carbon side plate, 7 bearings (spool bearings are Japanese), 6.4:1 Gear ratio, highly corrosion resistant - ie ok to use in saltwater and a swept handle with decent sized EVA knobs. It holds approx 100yd of 80lb braid. To increase its casting distance try to remove some grease from the levelwind worm drive, its plastic gear and bearings at either end. As I’m not a reel tech I used a cotton bud for this, then applied Reel-X oil

I have the 273. Fish big swim baits with it and love it. Would have got the 300 series but I don't like them nondisengaging level wind. Supposedly kills the castability. But love mine man. Such torque for the gear ratio on this thing. 100mm handle probably helps but its also buttery smooth also which helps well

I have all 3 models… The non-disengaging level-wind improves casting distance because the line comes off freely with no awkward angles.

If u fish salt water do not remove grease on gears,the is a reason for it
