ESPN is a sports broadcasting network, so that's why they're able to get so many incredible athletes from all sports. It's kind of like Disney being able to make commercials with a bunch of famous actors that have done Disney movies before. But yes, that's a lot of the reason these commercials are so successful and popular is that a viewer will be watching a sport, get a commercial, and one of their favorite athletes from that sport is making jokes and having a good time.
Bryson Turner haha true! Didn’t even think of that. Also I don’t think Luka knows that “the bubble” is in the ESPN section of Disney (don’t remember the exact name).
A lot of these jokes, you would’ve had to really be in tune with US sports and in the 2000’s and known the athletes personalities a bit to get. Glad you liked it tho!
Zach Hershman I mean most of them were not that complex... the devil was just alluding to hell, David Ortiz was wearing a rival cap, the speed bump one was a race car driver trying to go fast in the parking lot. If he just paid more attention
H P Part of it was him not paying attention but it was mostly him not knowing enough about what they were joking about. He has no clue Larry Fitzgerald was (is) an insane receiver who can catch anything. He doesn’t know the backstory behind why Tomlinson wearing his helmet was funny. He quite possibly didn’t recognize Ortiz one as having to do with a rival. Most of the mascot commercials went over his head because he had no clue what most of them were. The devil in the elevator was missed because he talked over it.
2:42 The guy doesn't want to get in the elevator with the Devil's mascot when he learns that the Devil wants to go down (i.e. to hell). 9:37 The Penguin mascot (cold) and the Devil mascot (hot) are fighting over the thermostat which is why they put the Do Not Touch sign on it.
"Should have gotten Odell for that" Nah, Larry Fitzgerald is right for that. He's 2nd all time in catches in NFL history, a surefire hall of famer and legend in the game. Still playing too. He'll go down as a top 5 WR, some would say top 3.
My favorite is the "Arnold Palmer" commercial where he's in the cafeteria making an "Arnold Palmer" (lemonade/Iced Tea) and the broadcasters are in awe.th-cam.com/video/0rONXxy9kk0/w-d-xo.html
There was a time when every sports fan in America spent every morning watching every minute of SportsCenter. Naturally, athletes wanted to be in these commercials. It isn't like that anymore.
Great video and great reaction. Yes . . . show more of this. ESPN is THE American Sports Network -- iconic coverage with iconic reporters. Their commercials have also entered into the realm of the iconic. Thank you.
The tree is the mascot of Stanford U. It fainted at hearing about all the wood cutting. The Devil is the New Jersey hockey mascot. Wally the Red Sox mascot saw his star player wearing a Yankees hat, because David Ortiz was doing a favor for the catcher on the Yankees and breaking in his hat. Catchers don't usually wear cloth caps, so his was still new looking, is why. Wally was disgusted and left. The football player LT was teased about how dark he liked his visor for day games, so they made a joke out of that. He can't read with it on. Manny Ramirez had a reputation for doing things a bit weirdly, but here they're teasing the sports media for acting like everything he does is weird even when it isn't.
I worked at ESPN from 1993-1996, and worked with some of the anchors in these commercials. I happened to be there when they shot a commercial that didn't appear here and that was with Mary Lou Retton. Karl Ravech has one of the best toupees you'll ever see.
3:44 the mascot in that commercial is the Philly Phanatic, mascot to the Philadelphia Phillies baseball team. He's one of the oldest mascot in sports, going back to 1976.
Sports Center is *the* sports show in the US, or at least has been way up there for awhile. They cover every sport pretty much which is why it works to get athletes from everywhere.
my all time favorite...the pirates steal everything from the meeting. also a good one...the broncos/seahawks mascots in the elevator before the superbowl
The David Ortiz joke (the mascots throwing the books down in disbelief) is that he was breaking in a rival teams cap, but the mascot thought he was supporting the team.
I saw in the recommended vids at the end “an American football coach in London” hilarious parody of if an nfl coach was hired by hotspur. You would appreciate it as a soccer fan.
You should react to An American Coach in London: NBC Sports Premier League Film featuring Jason Sudeikis. Its a comedic short film, only 4-5 minutes long that was used to advertise the premier league in the usa.
16:05 “I would love to see more of these. I don’t know if there is more.” You said this right after you cancelled the auto play of one with LeBron, Kobe, and Steph.
The Derek Jeter one with the Phillie Phantic is my favorite. The Phanatic is the best mascot in sports. There’s a great one with Dodgers manager Tommy Lasorda & the Phanatic.
Sportscenter is the sports show of all sports shows in the US, and it's network, ESPN is the biggest sports network. So it's easy to get a bunch of people to do segments and commercials.
Sports Center is the sports "News" show of ESPN . Trade deals, highlights, suspensions, top plays, stuff like that. Obviously the commercials are based on Inside jokes that sports fans would understand But they also give viewers the impression that ESPN is the ultimate authority in sports in a funny way. Branding!!
There are so many little things you can forget to appreciate about your culture until you see it through an outsider's eyes. I do half-wish you had an American pal with you to explain those details that would make it funnier for you if you knew the reference. But all the same, loving your vids...keep it up!!
The premise of the commercials was based on the name of the news program, SportsCenter. SportsCenter was supposed to be the center of the sports' world.
There’s lots more of these, I hope you can find them and get to watch! Some of these have subtle nuances that are hard to catch for most people so don’t feel bad that some confused you. ☺️ Have a beautiful day 🥰☀️💜
This didn't include my favorite from early on. The ESPN team in the Bristol rec basketball league stacked with ringers. Juwan Howard and other NBA stars pummeling the guys from Bristol Plumbing. "Just play the game plumber boy!"
Tbh with you, Steve Smith Sr is one of the best wide receivers of the 2000s. A very aggressive, fluid, and fundamentally sound wide receiver. You should check his highlights.
You should watch History of the League by Griffiti. It's really different than the other hockey videos that you've reacted to and does a good job of being informative while also being funny and chaotic. I've put the vid in your discord if you want to watch it.
There's plenty more...you haven't made it here til you've been in a sportscenter commercial. They've been going on for 25+ years so there's so many more
Larry Fitzgerald or Larry Fitz was the #11 guy for the Cardinals that was catching everything. He has more tackles than dropped passes. He has 39 tackles and 29 drops. He will be going into his 17th season.
ESPN used to be huge. Sports Center was basically a sports news and highlights show. They would give you the scores of the games from yesterday and show the highlights from those games. Back when these commercials aired, Sports Center was must watch TV for half the American male population. ESPN would air their one hour long morning Sports Center program three times in a row.....and dudes would just watch it over again. I know I did. Sadly, today it isn't anywhere close to being as good as it used to be, just like most of the rest of the ESPN lineup. The drop in ratings shows it.
You should watch "Kawhi Leonard’s Two-Year Journey from San Antonio Injury to 2019 NBA Finals" by bleacher report, summarizes last years playoffs pretty well
Though it pains me to relive the moment, there's a great Foolish Baseball video thats been suggested after a bunch of the videos you've watched recently. Check out "Baseball Bits, Best Game Ever"
ESPN is one of the largest sports broadcasting networks in the world, and they dominate the US market. NBC Sports, Fox Sports and other channels also have large portions of the market but what makes ESPN and is their main show is "Sportscenter" which is like a news show but all about sports. They do analysis, highlights, predictions, etc and they always have ex players, sports insiders, breaking news, etc. Their anchors are pretty famous in their own rights as it's an everyday show that is watched by millions of people daily. So the entire "this is sportscenter" commercial joke is that, it's like a regular office, but with famous athletes and mascots and all sorts of strange things happening. A lot of the jokes i'm sure are going over your head just because they deal with popular US sports culture and deal with inside jokes about things going on in the sports media. Here are some that I saw you struggle with that maybe can provide some context - Baseball player talking about the manufacturing of wooden MLB bats in graphic detail while the Tree Mascot is listening and passes out from horror - Chad Johnson was infamous for his Touchdown celebrations, he got a lot of fines from the NFL for them and this is a joke about a TD celebration brainstorm session at the ESPN offices - Red Sox vs Yankees are the oldest rivalry in US sports and the Red Sox have a mascot named Wally. This is like if a Real Madrid player put on a Barcelona scarf. - The green mascot is the mascot for the Philadelphia Phillies which is actually the New York Mets rival not the Yankees Jeter played for, but still New York vs Philly is a classic rivalry - NASCAR driver is destroying the Speed Bumps in the parking lot so he can go fast - Watching the tape is a play on the classic sports reference to go back to the tape to fix issues in gameplay - The rings that he is using on his arms are weighted rings that MLB players put on the bat while they are taking practice swings before batting in games. The idea is that you take a couple swings with this heavy bat and then when you actually bat, you are quicker to hit. So that’s the joke here, he’s using them to make himself type faster - LT always wore a tinted visor in games and commentators constantly referred to his incredible vision even with a tinted visor. The joke here is that he actually can’t see - Larry Fitzgerald has made many incredible catches in his career as a wide receiver and is referred to as one the greatest “catchers” in the history of the game. This is a joke on how he can “catch anything” - Manny Rodriguez at the height of his popularity did a lot of weird/funny/out of the ordinary stuff in the dugout and on the field, the media was obsessed with him and followed him in games always with a camera to catch whatever they could, they also made a phrase “Manny being Manny”. This is a joke about how over the top the media coverage and attention was. - NFL playbook plays can be incredibly complex and long winded which is why the joke here is what would happen if a Quaterback made the new network password like a play called in the huddle - The duck mascot is from Oregon university, joke here that he’s hard at work and just wants to be a duck on the pond. - The red blog mascot is the Wisconsin university mascot, nobody knows what it is so the joke is that he doesn’t know which bathroom he’s allowed to use. - For a number of years the San Francisco Giants were the best team in Baseball and won a couple of championships behind their strong pitching. This pitcher is their closer Brian Wilson who always had a big black beard and would come in to pitch the end of the game to win. Thus the fans started a motto for him which was “fear the beard” because when he came into pitch, they would win due to his success. - Tim Lincecum was another of the Giants pitchers that won them championships, his nickname was “the freak” and this is just a joke about him trying to use it professionally
You might want to keep an eye on the Dodger and Astros series currently underway. There was a little trouble during last night's game, demonstrating that not everyone is willing to forget that Houston cheated.
ESPN is like SkySports for you it’s the big sports network in America so that’s why you have all the athletes I’m sure even some athletes even asked to get in some
Odell isn't holding a candle to Larry Fitzgerald in terms of consistently catching everything thrown his way over the course of an entire career. Fitz has arguably the best hands in the NFL of all time. Not taking anything away from Odell though, he's a beast and has made some amazing catches. But Fitz had arguably the most legendary WR playoffs of all time and nearly carried the Cardinals to their first Super Bowl Win ever(if it weren't for the Steelers completing 2 one-in-a-million miracle plays).
That red abomination against nature was the mascot of Western Kentucky University, my university’s arch rivals. Nobody knows what the f&@! that thing is.
Those costumed characters are famous mascots from college and the pros.
ESPN is a sports broadcasting network, so that's why they're able to get so many incredible athletes from all sports. But yes, that's a lot of the reason these commercials are so successful and popular is that a viewer will be watching a sport, get a commercial, and one of their favorite athletes from that sport is making jokes and having a good time.
Disney owns ESPN, so that actually makes a lot of sense.
Bryson Turner Disney owns everything 😂😂😂 20th century fox, marvel, Star Wars, muppets, part of epic games 🤣🤣🤣
Bryson Turner haha true! Didn’t even think of that. Also I don’t think Luka knows that “the bubble” is in the ESPN section of Disney (don’t remember the exact name).
EpicMinerNK ESPN Wide World Of Sports
AjTheBest alright that’s what I thought, just wasn’t very confident about it lol
Rip Stuart Scott one of the greatest 😢
A lot of these jokes, you would’ve had to really be in tune with US sports and in the 2000’s and known the athletes personalities a bit to get. Glad you liked it tho!
6 months late but yeah... I was dying at all of these but every single one you needed to have been watching sports 2005-2012sh haha
Not gonna lie almost EVERY joke went over your head lol glad u enjoyed it tho
Whoever suggested this must not have thought about him lacking context for most of the jokes.
He quite possibly didn’t recognize Ortiz one as having to do with a rival. Most of the mascot commercials went over his head because he had no clue what most of them were. The devil in the elevator was missed because he talked over it.
Part of the joke is obvious that they athletes are their coworkers as that’s how every day work day is where they work..
He definitely understood the faking injuries in soccer one lol
2:42 The guy doesn't want to get in the elevator with the Devil's mascot when he learns that the Devil wants to go down (i.e. to hell).
9:37 The Penguin mascot (cold) and the Devil mascot (hot) are fighting over the thermostat which is why they put the Do Not Touch sign on it.
"Should have gotten Odell for that"
Nah, Larry Fitzgerald is right for that. He's 2nd all time in catches in NFL history, a surefire hall of famer and legend in the game. Still playing too. He'll go down as a top 5 WR, some would say top 3.
Can't believe they didn't have the one with Archie, Peyton, and Eli Manning
By far that's the best one
Or the one with Arnold Palmer making an Arnold Palmer in the cafeteria
Or the one with Steve Austin.
My favorite is the "Arnold Palmer" commercial where he's in the cafeteria making an "Arnold Palmer" (lemonade/Iced Tea) and the broadcasters are in awe.th-cam.com/video/0rONXxy9kk0/w-d-xo.html
Luka: “Welcome back to another sports reaction”
The video: *commercials*
Get a joke
41 people agree
Bruh 41 people got the joke, clearly ur just not smart.
8:07 Nah man Larry Fitz in his prime was something special, he just didn't have a good QB after Palmer retired
he has more career tackles than drops. as a receiver.
ummmm.... josh rosen??
ITZgecko not good
The old espn and ea sports commercials were great also the spurs they got tons of funny commercials
Spurs and all the other teams in Texas have legendary heb commercials
There was a time when every sports fan in America spent every morning watching every minute of SportsCenter. Naturally, athletes wanted to be in these commercials. It isn't like that anymore.
The tree in the 2nd commercial is the mascot for Stanford University
There are so many inside jokes in these, like niche jokes. I’m not surprised you were confused
Great video and great reaction. Yes . . . show more of this. ESPN is THE American Sports Network -- iconic coverage with iconic reporters. Their commercials have also entered into the realm of the iconic. Thank you.
Years ago, there was a series of web based videos/lengthy adverts called "Terry Tate, Office Linebacker". They were genuinely funny.
4 videos today you love to see it- don’t think for a second we don’t appreciate the hustle bro
The one with the Nascar guy with the pickax was taking out the speed bump which slow you down....they want to go fast
React to Donald Sterling: The Worst NBA owner
It's made by the same SB Nation channel that does the Rewinder
Sime'on Manzac11 I think Dom 2K has a better vid on Sterling
You’ve got to react to Tim Lincecum. He was a really great pitcher for the Giants and won a few World Series rings. His pitches are nasty good
The tree is the mascot of Stanford U. It fainted at hearing about all the wood cutting. The Devil is the New Jersey hockey mascot. Wally the Red Sox mascot saw his star player wearing a Yankees hat, because David Ortiz was doing a favor for the catcher on the Yankees and breaking in his hat. Manny Ramirez had a reputation for doing things a bit weirdly, but here they're teasing the sports media for acting like everything he does is weird even when it isn't.
I think it should be mentioned that Yankees and Red Sox are rival teams, at least with fans
The one where Dan Patrick hits Stone Cold Steve Austin with a chair was fantastic.
They left out the one where all the Pirate-themed mascots and McCutchen plunder a random office.
This is the best one... steve irwin espn commercial
RIP 🙏
Oh the 'This is Sportcenter' commercials are classics. Yes, they cover everything from Soccer to NASCAR.
I worked at ESPN from 1993-1996, and worked with some of the anchors in these commercials. I happened to be there when they shot a commercial that didn't appear here and that was with Mary Lou Retton. Karl Ravech has one of the best toupees you'll ever see.
I'd love to see Jomboy's newest breakdown involving the Dodgers and Astros. Crazy stuff
Definitely watch more. Some classics in there
The soccer flop one with Abby Wambach is GOLD
Look at Thurston man
Inspirational ish
Only a little inspirational
3:44 the mascot in that commercial is the Philly Phanatic, mascot to the Philadelphia Phillies baseball team. He's one of the oldest mascot in sports, going back to 1976.
You should watch more! There are so many great ones. My 2 favorites are "Is It Weird" and "The Manning Brothers".

I saw in the recommended vids at the end “an American football coach in London” hilarious parody of if an nfl coach was hired by hotspur. You would appreciate it as a soccer fan.
I never felt older than when he said "should've gotten Odell for that" for the Larry Fitzgerald commercial
Reebok did a number of Superbowl commercials featuring "Terrible" Terry Tate...Office Linebacker. You would definitely enjoy them.
4 vids in a day?! God bless 🙏 also watch more of these lol, some of these were good but there’s a lot of funnier ones imo
aww the Steve Erwin one wasn't in there
You should react urinating tree's legacy of failures, because it's so good
Good choice to react to.I enjoyed that.👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
You should react to An American Coach in London: NBC Sports Premier League Film featuring Jason Sudeikis. Its a comedic short film, only 4-5 minutes long that was used to advertise the premier league in the usa.
16:05 “I would love to see more of these. I don’t know if there is more.” You said this right after you cancelled the auto play of one with LeBron, Kobe, and Steph.
I can't believe they didn't include the Steve Irwin one with the Florida Gators mascot. Probably the best one.
I wasn’t expecting this, but I’ve watched many complications of SC commercials... glad to see iy. Also yeah that UFC guy is GSP
damn I've never seen the floyd mayweather one, thats actually hilarious
The Derek Jeter one with the Phillie Phantic is my favorite. The Phanatic is the best mascot in sports. There’s a great one with Dodgers manager Tommy Lasorda & the Phanatic.
I laughed the whole time... I had to dry my eyes 💚💙❤️
Luka: [over and over again]Man they got everybody on here!
Every time...Me: this is sports center baby
SportsCenter is a broadcast network. They cover a variety of sports.
You gotta react to the NFL Pick Me commercials. Those were legendary
Sportscenter is the sports show of all sports shows in the US, and it's network, ESPN is the biggest sports network. So it's easy to get a bunch of people to do segments and commercials.
React to 'Each NBA Star's Most Savage Moment'
The concept is all sports are in that building...
Sports Center is the sports "News" show of ESPN . Trade deals, highlights, suspensions, top plays, stuff like that.
Obviously the commercials are based on Inside jokes that sports fans would understand
But they also give viewers the impression that ESPN is the ultimate authority in sports in a funny way. Branding!!
Good news! ESPN is going to be making these types of commercials again so you’ll have a whole bunch of new ones to watch.
Luka with 4 videos in a day let’s go
Who else was waiting for the Steve Irwin commercial and was sad when they didnt show it?
ESPN covers all sports news around the world and in the USA for American TV. I just wish they still did little commercials like this.
Nfl fanasty football "draft me" commercials were some of the best
The Heisman House ones are funny as well.
My favorite is the one with Wally the mascot thinks David Ortiz of the Red Socks has become a New York Yankee and drops all the bats.
He should react to the funny footlocker commercials
I love the Steve irwin Florida gators commercial and the stone cold Steve Austin one.
I thought you might love the one with the guy faking the soccer injury.
I love that he doesn't understand any of the references like LTs helmet lol.
There’s lots more of these, I hope you can find them and get to watch!
Some of these have subtle nuances that are hard to catch for most people so don’t feel bad that some confused you. ☺️
Have a beautiful day 🥰☀️💜
This didn't include my favorite from early on. The ESPN team in the Bristol rec basketball league stacked with ringers. Juwan Howard and other NBA stars pummeling the guys from Bristol Plumbing. "Just play the game plumber boy!"
Wow those were older sportscenter commercials. Simpler times on ESPN.. RIP Stuart Scott.
Love the vids! You should react to some of Jomboys fun sport Friday videos. Very crazy stuff goin on!
You really should seek out the Lance Armstrong commercial. That was one of the best.
Dude there's 100s of these since like 1993. You can waste a lot of time watching them.
The Duck one is my favorite.
Seeing as how you know Charles Barkley now you should watch the capital one commercials with him spike lee and Samuel L Jackson
There's plenty more...you haven't made it here til you've been in a sportscenter commercial. They've been going on for 25+ years so there's so many more
L.T.
You should do some LaDanian Tomlinson highlights.
8:04 this one used to kill me when it aired lol
Larry Fitzgerald or Larry Fitz was the #11 guy for the Cardinals that was catching everything. He has more tackles than dropped passes. He has 39 tackles and 29 drops. He will be going into his 17th season.
Great video
Very enjoyable vid

You should watch "Kawhi Leonard’s Two-Year Journey from San Antonio Injury to 2019 NBA Finals" by bleacher report, summarizes last years playoffs pretty well
Please react to either Rockets vs Celtics or Rockets vs Grizzlies. Hardens been on a tear and you always like when you see his highlights
You should watch the basketball ones they have players like kobe and lebron
This didn't even have the Peyton and Eli commercial or the Hip Hip Jorge! with Posada lol still good though
damn these are old
Though it pains me to relive the moment, there's a great Foolish Baseball video thats been suggested after a bunch of the videos you've watched recently. Check out "Baseball Bits, Best Game Ever"

I miss these commercials, they used to be so funny
They even got Metallica in one of these commercials, lol.
SportsCenter used to do this but now they don’t bc they’re not as popular since the streaming age
