- The Glastonbury Modelers are a group of free flight model aircraft enthusiasts that fly gliders and rubber powered models at the Glastonbury High School Gym located at Glastonbury, CT. Throughout the fall and winter, we gather once a month to fly our models. This video is a collection of model flying from our seventh and final session of the 2022/23 season. Our annual Spring Fling contest. See you in the Fall.
5:14 - 6:40 Pushers rule!!!! Just perfect: spiral up, no stall/twitch when engine quits, gentle descending spiral to sliding "grease job" landing.
wowWOWwow
That model is masterly flown by Ray Harlan, Michael. It's quite an amazing model.
That I-15 mass launch flight was very impressive!
Thanks for posting.

SO DO WE!!!!
John,
I love it! I used to make balsa wood airplanes as a young teenager, but all my planes crashed. I would love to see more of this, and hopefully learn how not to crash my models on the first attempt! How do I do this? Are there clubs, events that are near me Sag Harbor, NY? Are there magazines?
Also, how do they keep the props turning so slow? Do they have a gear reduction of some sort?
Thanks for posting this video!
Thanks for the comment, Jeff. Check out the Flying Aces Club website. Consider signing up. They publish a great newsletter 6 times a year. Also Academy of Model Aeronautics. There are several clubs in NY. Infact, we have several folks that travel from Long Island, NY to CT for our full day sessions at Glastonbury but they're not quite as far out as Sag Harbor. There's lots of great kits being produced these days. Laser cut parts make life a lot easier for building.
The props turn slow based on the diameter and pitch of the prop, along with the light weight of the model and small cross-section of the rubber motor. Some of the fun in the hobby is learning to understand how all this stuff ties together to make a great flying model. Thanks for watching and feel free to ask more questions if you want to get involved. It's a fun hobby with lots of interesting people involved.
Awesome! Hats off to all of you! (John, Yey for the 1st powered flight of the Facetmobile!)
thank you!
Greetings from Mexico.
Greetings!
very cool!
That was a fun session John, the triple mid-air was unfortunate but that's what happens when one goes the 'wrong way' lol, a great selection of models and very inspirational, cheers 👍
Thanks Cliff. We sure have fun in the gym! 😂😂😂
Great stuff! Loved the Facetmobile.
Thank you! More flights to come in the Fall with the Facetmobile. :)
Terima kasih sudah berbagi...saya sangat senang❤
You are welcome. Thank you for watching. 🙂
That canard at 5:14 was a thing of beauty.
Jim, it's turned out be a nice flyer. Not super competitive in the event but fun to watch fly.
@Watching It's landing at 6:38 was beautiful. thevideos99
Wow, looks like a lot of fun!
We do have lots of fun. 😁
I am with envy and jelous of such a big gymnasium to fly model airplanes in. There's not many places like that here in Virginia. You guys look like your having fun.
Richard we have a lot of fun and it's a great group of modelers.
Are any of these r/c?
No, all free flight.
