    I am a psychologist and an INTJ (female). There are more NT types in the psychology than you'd think. It is not all about empathising and emotion. It is necessary to analyse the client's problems objectively. Psychological conventions are a good place to meet an INTJ.

    • @theintjperspective2958
      @theintjperspective2958  2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I've heard it been said that there are two types in psychology, the helpers and the researchers. I imagine that xNFx types help, while the xNTx types does analysis and do research. But I see your point, I just don't see myself being good at helping LOL. I mean if you compare it to physics and engineering, there is probably a noticeable analytical difference between the fields of eng/phys and psychology.

    • @theintjperspective2958

      But its always nice to find another INTJ female, see just like I said "we analytical types just find each other " LOL

      @meinungabundance7696 2 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      @@theintjperspective2958 Yes, the difference lies - in my humble opinion- in the fact that you can rely on pure logic - but can you really? Psychology is very complex and the main question is still WHY? You have to extract the answer from the whole fabric of symptoms and history of the patient - similar to the medical diagnosis. Have you noticed that there are also 2 types of doctors: those who diagnose and those who perform the surgery. In order to diagnose well, you need intuition.

    I find many intj seem to project being more extroverted in social settings as of they've weighed up and analysed the pros and cons and have gone with the 'social norm' and by all means do it so quite effectively... But as a enfp 4w5 I get it and it's rarely noticed the undertone of this behaviour of "here I am, but I'd rather be..." I tend to recognise this small detail and give them a smile knowing that it's those types that really melt my heart. So sweet and sometimes rarely noticed, but I see you INTJs :-) And you're absolutely adorable

      You're very right. I feel most INTJs can accomplish anything they set their minds to, even being good at being social. It's just that so few actually think it's worth it.

    Ive learned to talk “normal” to “normal” people because i don’t wanna stand out more than i already do… so true. I had a big problem with this because i just don’t get why they don’t get me. I’ve had to analyze myself objectively through the eyes of other people to realize I’m weird. I can’t easily connect with others but i “go with the flow “ because most times it’s just convenient and “easier”.

    Identifying what people value in conversion is a pretty reliable way to guess functions. I often try to identify what function is someone's top extroverted function, as the introverted functions can be harder to read. For INTJ, that's Te. It's extremely easy to see Te, as the way things get explained through Te is in a very, concise, structured argument that is nearly always after a point. It's rarely for chatting's sake and if there is a bit of polite chat going on, there will still be insights on what is talked on that pop up. This is because of Ni for the INTJ, a thematically concerned function. An INTJ doesn't care if the car is red. They care that it's odd that red cars appear to be going faster than other cars and will look to exploit this when speeding. An INTJ doesn't care if it's sunny out. They care that the humidity level is up and probably chuckle because they realize that hair care product sales are gonna be up that day. In fact, I chuckle to myself all the time with these silly insights that I often don't feel comfortable enough to explain when I get caught laughing. Often the thought is so absurd I just can't explain why it's funny. You will also hear a lot of Fi being funneled through Te in the form of personal anecdotes and observations that lead to value statements or opinions. Fi is the motivational force for INTJ. If something doesn't align with personal values, an INTJ will at best be unhappy engaging with it. When they go to explain this using Te, you will understand crystal clearly that they feel a valid reason exists for them to complain or walk away. All that the world sees of INTJs goes through Te. They will come off very formal, well-thought-out, and probably a bit egotistical to the uninitiated.
    Finding an INTJ is simple. Go to places where introverts congregate. Basically, niche subjects or hobbies where the emphasis is more on thinking than on sensing will arouse the interest of an INTJ. Chess, board games, library groups, academia of any type, orchestras or anything that is engaging with thought really. Personally, I can't stand more than a small amount of time existing in Se, like playing a sport or the like. It's tiring, but also gets boring quickly. I prefer living in my head and have been known to spend literal days doing this with minimal real world interaction. I'm not saying it's healthy, per se, but it a thing. It's why I can go a week or two without talking with friends or family. I just forget the world exists, frankly.

    You drew a giggle out of me when you were describing the INTJ stare. I developed the same habit. During lunches at work I would find a quite corner and eat and allow myself to get lost in the comfort of my own thoughts. From my perspective, I am focusing inwardly and not really "seeing" what I am looking at. A few times I would be approached by someone my eyes had inadvertently settled on. They would ask me if I was "all right?" or why I was so angry. For me it was completely startling, I hadn't even noticed their approach. The number of times I have had to say "Im not upset, I was only thinking" lol

    (Enfp) I haven't met any real life INTJ's... but I find the extraverted NT's easy to spot at gatherings - when they try to angle the conversation into a preset debate, in order to display their knowledge. By the time they discover that a "bubbly girl" CAN have a brain, I'm already drained, & wondering if the introverted NT"s might possess a lot more humility & insightfulness... If the INTJ's live up to the hype, I plan to hire a whole team of them, to organise my life!

    • @theintjperspective2958
      @theintjperspective2958  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Yes Extroverts or always more easy to spot, and there always appears to be more of them as they are more vocal. Our society encourages extroversion. But extroverted xNTx types tend to be less knowledgeable than the introverted xNTx. This is simply because talking to people takes up way more of their time. Introverts however spend this precious time learning. Because of this INTJs can usually get the better of their extroverted types. But you've probably bumped into a few INTJ types and never new it. Many if my ENFP friends have no idea I'm an INTJ. But yes INTJs are the best at organization and sorting things out, both with tasks and ideas.

    Uhmm I think J typed start out with the plain wardrobe and they can optimize it through systems if they want. As a female INTJ myself I never follow trends although I intuively subconsciously gather Se data about what's trendy. I don't read the blogs or magazines but I can just Ni know what's cool and it happens to be lol. What I did was, two years ago I decided that I wanted to look my personal best for me so I took the systematic approach. I taught myself color theory and body geometry- the same way I taught myself mbti. Turns out I had been intuitively doing what Te worked for me all along without knowing the matter of fact principle. I like bold colors like red, cobalt blue, royal purple and fuschia. If I'm not in a bold color, I'm always in black. Those colors work for me because contrast works for me. Also a bold lip is the efficient way to look done up without doing much to your face. INTJs can truly master anything.

    • @theintjperspective2958
      @theintjperspective2958  2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Thats about how I went about things. But its a bit different for men. I mean with men's fashion its too extremes, either t-shirt and jeans or full on suit. The trick for me was finding the middle ground. But I started much as you did with skin tone color matching and the amount of detail and contrast, though I lean more towards retro stuff in general. But women have a lot more wiggle room for creativity I think, but it makes sense what you say.

      @johnknight9150 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      "Subconscious" (and "subconsciously") is a deprecated term and a misnomer. Pedantry aside, it's the first thing I noticed when reading Jung and Freud -- that they said "unconscious" rather than "subconscious" -- and finding out why was actually really interesting and extremely helpful on my psych journey.
      The old disproven idea of "subconscious" creates a model in the mind of the listener that is in opposition to its actual form, where people think the mind starts with the conscious, and then there's this "sub" bit tacked on the back as a kind of extension. Really, it's the other way around: from out of the body grows the unconscious, and from out of the unconscious grows the conscious ego. The conscious mind is like the mere tip of an iceberg, while the unconscious forms the overwhelming bulk of the psyche, and is entirely capable of dissolving the conscious ego under certain circumstances.
      IIRC, Jung used a really interesting illustration, likening the disproven "subconscious" model to the old idea of the Earth being at the centre of the solar system (with the Earth representing consciousness), while everything else revolved around it, when really the Earth is not at the centre, and is merely a small part orbiting around a much bigger whole.

    The J and P (Judging and Perceiving) refers more to the axes of N vs S, and T vs F, and which functions you prefer to use first and where. It's slightly confusing with introverts, because the letter tells which is your first extroverted function, so T for us -- our second function. Either way, in an INTJ, value of J gives a rough guide as to the balance between thinking and intuition.

    I actually went on Amazon and bought a shirt that says, "INTJ. One of the 2%" in bold letters. I figure it's a way to strike conversation with people who are into MBTI. Plus, if they're drawn to INTJ's they can approach me, but if they're not, they can steer far away from me. Lol!
    Another VERY interesting tidbit; When I'm at the gym and my testosterone is spiking, my usual intense INTJ death gaze will truly become an actual Alpha male predatory type gaze. It becomes so intense, that other men will become visibly uncomfortable even seeing me in the mirror, and most will feel an intense sharp pain in their chest or huge tingle down their neck if they make direct eye contact with me.
    On the flip side, if a female see's me she will immediately get a huge sex flush (red on her entire body). And they will immediately display attracted body language (playing with jewelry, fixing their hair, opening up their legs, etc.) It's just strange because since I'm also a male, I tend to think that I look like a serial killer when I see myself in the mirror and I'm lifting weights, but apparently it turns on the ladies.

    17:07 " I can" and yes, you can, Tango India Papa. you are an effective speaker
    and interesting.
    You mentioned INTJs and the color black appearing in our closet.
    During my high school years, I took a sociology class. In this class, at the end
    of the semester, each student in the class fi*lled out a questionnaire about the other students in our sociology class. When I read what the other students thought, or felt about
    me, they all wanted to know one thing about me.
    They asked why I wore black clothing so often. This was Florida and the disco ducks ruled, and my black clothing stood out as diffe*rent. My theory now is that until we know how
    we are suppose to 'mask' ourselves in our clothing because of either a mission or a party (shudder) or during an event for business, we si*mply revert to the color black which is the
    color of the ni*ght.
    “If you are the intuitive, you need to observe the following rules:
    First, say explicitly, at the start, what you are talking about. (Otherwise, you are requiring your sensing listeners to hold what you say in mind until they can figure out what you are referring to, which they seldom think is worth doing.)
    Second, finish your sentences; you know what the rest of the sentence is, but your listeners do not. Third, give notice when changing the subject.
    And last, don’t switch back and forth between subjects. Your listeners cannot see the parentheses.
    Finish one point and move explicitly to the next.”

      A man walks into a rooftop bar and takes a seat next to another guy. “What are you drinking?” he asks the guy.
      “Magic beer,” he says.
      “Oh, yeah? What’s so magical about it?”
      Then he shows him: He swigs some beer, dives off the roof, flies around the building, then finally returns to his seat with a triumphant smile.
      “Amazing!” the man says. “Lemme try some of that!” The man grabs the beer. He downs it, leaps off the roof-and plummets 15 stories to the ground.

I mean finding loopholes and ways to win a case is in effect, finding a strategy or using tactics, something INTJs excel at. That being said, I knew one technical friend that went into law and double majored in chem engineering as well. He went on to technology patents and their analysis, he was one of the few lawyers out there who could actually understand the technical aspects of the patents, this gave him and advantage over his peers.

      If you’re a young INTJ and wondering how you can monetize your natural interests & talents (and you’re starting from a place of SELF-AWARENESS & 💯 accuracy in your self-perception), note what you find interesting and makes your brain tingle & body perk up. If you have to talk yourself into something, you’re manipulating yourself, and will lead yourself on a detour, though you’ll eventually find your way back, and hopefully have learned some valuable life lessons along the way.
      I’m now 47, and have been fortunate to have known who I was and what I naturally love from the time I was a wee little girl. And I should note that I’ve always been around Sensors and have never once been asked what I want to be/do in life, or what my interests are (I’ve been around people really high on the narcissistic spectrum, and they’re only interested in thinking & talking about themselves, the irony being that they’re the most boring people because they’re not curious, and the world is literally never any bigger than their World of One).
      Watch/listen to a lot of in-depth interviews, and you’ll find people in the public realm who you notice have the same thoughts and thought-patterns as you. Though INTJs aren’t the only type in these industries or fields, I’ve found them in:
      - science & engineering (i.e., STEM subjects)
      - journalism
      - design (industrial design & engineering, graphic design, interior design, professional organizing)
      - innovative or modern cooking
      - consulting / coaching / teaching (we give great advice, and know how to break it down into little how-to steps-but to avoid monotony, it’s best to put out products or services where you record/document your solutions ONCE, then charge clients/customers for it, unless you’ve got a customized solution that someone is willing to pay a lot for, since your time, energy & expertise are invaluable)
      - author / writer/ podcaster /TH-camr (related to item above, where you get to monetize your thoughts & knowledge as intellectual property, though you’re free to provide as much of it as you want for free, as a public service)
      - CEOs / leaders (not the micromanaging type, but rather big-picture leader who recognizes people’s interests & talents, and allows them to manifest their greatest potential)
      - entrepreneurs (INTJs love solving real-life problems)
      We INTJs like to research & experiment, and not do the same thing day-after-day. Repetition bores us, and we want to die from the mind-numbingness of a Groundhog Day-like a existence. Whatever & however you like to experience continuous growth & evolution is a prospect for what’ll be a worthwhile effort. And remember, you don’t have to stick with any ONE thing, since you can be good at a lot of varied areas of interest.
