What a great race, I've been catching up on Indy series recently after long break from the series (since the crap that it started turning into in the late 90's/early 00's) and it pisses all over current F1, especially since they switched to vacuum cleaner based engines. It's a disgrace to even call that shit F1 any more.
+ÔFrost biteÔ come the fuck on, "have you heard V10 F1 cars". Yeah like that's what the OP had in mind. Current F1 cars sound shit comparing to these current generation Indy beasts. And they both are V6 turbo engine cars.
Alan, thanks for the advice. The more I thought about it, the more I didn't feel like carrying around my case with the drone. Figured I may get some static from the local pice about flying it so I decided at 500 this morning to leave it here at home. Thanks again and looking forward to visiting ya'lls state!
leaboy2 Good idea. :) Just having hosted the Final Four last month, there were some public safety concerns around it and wouldn't want your first trip to Indianapolis to be a negative one! Enjoy Indiana and enjoy the race! It's the only place to be on Memorial Day Weekend!
I can't believe they still have those pods on the back wheels. Those add so much more danger than they prevent. Every time there's a crash they break away from the car in one piece, so then there's a huge pod flipping all over the track. I would have thought after Justin Wilson they would have tried to prevent large pieces of the car from breaking away intact.
rios614 I sure hope so... I am flying up there from Baton Rouge this Friday to stay until Tuesday. Never been, but my wife's uncle said he has had tickets to this race for the last 47 years, right in the winner's circle. I hope it is worth the trip and the money......
Only been watching indycar for 2 or 3 years since i needed somthing else as i got sick of f1. It was good watching this and RHR win as since i have been watching indycar ryan has to be the most unluckiest driver i have ever seen. Cant wait for indy 2018 in a couple of weeks😀
I don't have the actual seats #'s. Her uncle said they are right next to the winners circle and directly across from the pit row? If that makes any sense? I stand corrected, their family has had these tickets for over 60 years. He has a friend that races vintage race cars and is bringing down in the pits. I have never been to a NASCAR or Indy race. I am sure to enjoy it. Any tips you can tell me on where I should go or do? Thanks
I have been every year since 2000 when I was 7. You will love it. The magic of it never goes away. I can't tell exactly where the seats you are talking about are because pit row and winners circle are on the same side but I would guess that means your somewhere along the front straightaway. Hope you have a good time and comment back to let me know how your first experience is!
We sat directly across from the "Fuzzy Vodka" pit. Unbelievable seats for my first time. We have been invited to come back again next year and already looking forward to it
Definitely will. I am planning on bringing my drone and making a video of it. I am not flying it inside the stadium track(which would be highly illegal. I plan to fly a little on the outside and the. Get a lot if video of the pits, race and tailgating. I will send you the video once I am back next week with the link. Thanks!!!
leaboy2 You should probably leave the drone at home. I don't think flying drones anywhere near the Speedway will go over well with the Indianapolis Motor Speedway management. Just some friendly Hoosier advice. Enjoy the race!
Good call on suggesting leaving the drone at home. There were too many helicopters flying celebrities in and the rich ones to have a drone flying around. Race was absolutely amazing!!! We were sitting in the Paddock section directly across from "fuzzy" pit stop. I will make a short video and put on TH-cam this weekend coming up and will shoot you the link. I did t get a ton a video, since it was my first time at Indy, but will try to make it interesting. For my first race, it was more than I expected. We have been invited to come back again next year for the 100 year anniversary. Already looking forward to it
leaboy2 Glad you enjoyed the race! It was my 10th in a row, don't plan to miss another! Here's a link to some of the pictures I took from Turn 1. www.flickr.com/photos/131304178@N02/sets/72157653442236371/
You can check out my LSU vs Nama tailgating video I made last year and my Mardi Gras video I made this year. Just click on my name and video tab. Gives you a taste of what my Indy video will be like
Cobra317 I would agree, this is probably the best Indy 500 finish I can remember, but well, they dont broadcast to appeal to race fans they broadcast to appeal to the lowest common denominator.
RCMizK3w1 But I don't care what denominator we're talking about shouldn't showing these stupid women and trying to shove a reality TV format into the last 5 laps do a lot more to piss off the overwhelming majority of the base viewership even if they're going to court a handful of not very committed people? Besides, its idiotic because its a 4 hour broadcast but they only really appealed to the womenz in the last 10 minutes. How would this lower denominator be aware of what part of the race to watch? Are they trying to get housewives to start watching the last 5 laps?
BollocksUtwat But they've always done that, even when the race was on same-day tape delay back in the 70s and early 80s. Check the finish of the 1982 race between Gordon Johncock and Rick Mears, and you'll see that on the beginning of the final lap, they show Rick's then-wife Deena, instead of watching Mears and Gordon Johncock charge into turn one. And in 1974, they never even showed Johnny Rutherford getting the checkered flag for the first of his three wins because they had a shot of his wife Betty at the time J.R. was getting the checkered flag. In 1981, they had numerous shots of Marcia Unser, Bobby's wife at the time. so this is an ages old thing. And none of those races were even shown live.
th-cam.com/video/i0vBtj3NnJc/w-d-xo.html Here is the link to my video. I will probably bring the drone next year just to capture the parking lot parties and morning of the race activities. Really enjoyed my first Indy
Funny how a year before they screwed RHR by not going red now this time they tried to screw him over by throwing a red. Guess it's all for the excitement, but be consistent
I can't stand the modern commentators -- always trying to sound profound and memorable. When you watch folks like Jim McKay and such, they're speaking from the heart and in the moment, and that's what makes it memorable; listen to Chic Anderson's call of the 1973 Belmont Stakes when Secretariat won for a good example.
one thing about that oval circuit though, the most powerful car wins. all that matters is the top speed so am sure the merc. F1 will blow this competition away
***** the FW04 is much much faster on a straight line than the RB9 however in the world of F1 straight line speed does'nt mean much as you can only use it in less than a mile out of about 4 mile lap however am sure with the right aerodynamic configuration and balance a F1 car will sweep an indy car off its feet.
Thank you Tony George for screwing the Indy 500 in 1996. CART should have ran in 1996 despite the 25/8 rule and should have sued IMS and USAC to be allowed to run. The US 500 was so dumb and never should have been organized.
One of the best sports car event in the world with 24H du Mans !! i've been twice and every year i enjoy very much to watch it !!
This is 100000 times better than Monaco GP.
That year was my first Indy car race and that prayer gives me chills every time
I am very appreciative of the announcers' efforts to shut their mouths and let us watch the race. This is very much welcome, in my opinion.
That’s not what’s happening. It’s because it’s a satellite feed but there are no commercials added.
No announcers! This is the greatest thing I have ever seen. Thank you.
AT 30:42 DRIVERS TO YOUR CARS !!! We were sitting in paddock pressbox that day - what a fricken rush !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Kurt Busch did an amazing job
Excellent upload. I love the continuous coverage. Thank you Blue Flags.
that was wonderful of them to let Jim help give the command to start engines. very classy

Race start at 48:30
He's not the hero we deserve, but he's the hero we need.
The sound of the indycar during a commercial break. Better than an F1
+VictorYong36 i disagree have you even heard the v10 f1 cars?
+ÔFrost biteÔ come the fuck on, "have you heard V10 F1 cars". Yeah like that's what the OP had in mind. Current F1 cars sound shit comparing to these current generation Indy beasts. And they both are V6 turbo engine cars.
indycars ar V8 no turbo engines
Felix Sonnleitner is google not loading where you live matey?

Thank you so much......I can watch in HD on my computer have an old tv!!
Marco Andretti's car reminds me of Al Unser Sr.'s 1987 winning car because of the number & colors: Blue & Yellow
Not really... it's more like his father's Kraco sponsorship livery in the mid to late 80s.

am I the only one who watch the whole video ?
Nope :P
+Brandel Ellis Nope! :-)
+LauraRN713 the guy looks like he's high. So I'd rather not bother with Ellis if I were you. Terrible crash that Dixon.
+Kip Kennedy I was just confirming that he wasn't the only one that watches the whole video lol
Brandel Ellis nope
That was a great race
That pre-race prayer though.. Amen!
What lap did the crash for the red flag happen. I just remember that it was in the hundreds
We invited friends over for this race. We had subway, and sat at our giant tv set, for all 200 laps.
My name is indy
0:03 Girl can't say Indianapolis correctly.
0:50 The fence's accent tells me he's definitely from out of town.
The Honda engine in Hunter-Reay's car had better power down the back stretch.
That split screen wife thing is fucking laughable.
Are these races worth going too?
rios614 Oh my goodness yes
Are you kidding hell yes!!
rios614 I sure hope so... I am flying up there from Baton Rouge this Friday to stay until Tuesday. Never been, but my wife's uncle said he has had tickets to this race for the last 47 years, right in the winner's circle. I hope it is worth the trip and the money......
leaboy2 The race is an awesome experience. Where are your seats?
Milk for the little one...
Fab finish
Thank you Jim, Good bye Jim
47:30 that face
Quick fact, the only race where the drivers can use cruise control if the like to rest their right foot.

good race
good broadcast
Hey Blue Flags will you upload this year's race?? the Indy 500 I mean.

Why the hell did they keep showing the wives? Yea they are attractive but who cares.
Yea, what the hell. Its the last 5 laps of the Indy 500 and suddenly I'm watching a reality show.
One of the greatest race finishes ever in racing and ABC producers F'd that opportunity up royally. Jack wagons.
Cobra317 I would agree, this is probably the best Indy 500 finish I can remember, but well, they dont broadcast to appeal to race fans they broadcast to appeal to the lowest common denominator.

***** well i guess we can never know until A top F1 team build an Indy car
***** you forget F1 cars run more aero than these cars
*****
debatable, since top speed is governed by the diff and gear ratios
I'm not debating whether F1 or indy cars are better, I'm simply suggesting comparisons are impossible because these are not controlled environments
Dave Calabro is kinda annoying
I AGREE!

hey beccy... who is we? you didn't win shit, ryan did. just cuz yer opening yer legs for him this week doesn't mean you won too.
for some reason I feel like beccy and kanaan's wife are the only wives on the indy car series that aren't trophy wives or stuck up bitches
I hated this red flag so much.
No announcers! This is the greatest thing I have ever seen. Thank you.
There’s definitely announcers?
