As a friend who was homeless told me (paraphrasing): "if you're on the street, being harassed by cops and guards and random people, with nothing to your name and nowhere to go, and resources are thin to nonexistent, is it any surprise that some homeless people drink or do drugs? Because, at that point, what the fuck else are you gonna do? Better to forget about the world for a while than experience it all of the time."
That's what are they doing. They are wiping out all people who just causing trouble for their businesses. They don't care about morality. That's America
Yeah, I really hate when people use drug use against people, because trust me, you don’t end up with severe addiction without something in your life being shitty.
I'm someone who has been homeless for the past three years, to the point in which I've had to sleep in bushes at night. The only reason I'm able to eat consistently is Food Stamps, which means I can afford maybe half the groceries a normal person would need. I've watched friends die, watched police storm into the shelter I'm staying at because they got a report someone was doing drugs, and literally kick dozens of people from public spaces and throw their belongings in the trash. Most homeless people I know don't do drugs beyond weed, steal only when absolutely necessary and only from large businesses, and will help a random stranger with whatever little they have. We aren't parasites, and most of us are just normal people fallen on hard times. For every tweaker you see yelling, there's at least ten others who stay below the radar because if people know you're homeless, you can and will get harassed, refused service, and sometimes beat up and killed. Yesterday I finally got into stableish housing, so I have my own shower, bed, a fridge, etc. But for every homeless person who gets out, there's five others who die before they hit thirty. We're not parasites, we're a symptom.
When I was homeless I soon discovered that yes, most smoked weed and that was it, and that they they're the most generous and helpful people I have run across in my entire life. And yes, the majority of them looked and acted like anyone else, and no one would clock that they were homeless, including myself. I'm so happy you have housing now.
I was homeless twice in my life. Trying to mentally prepare for a repeat under The Thing 🍊. I was luckier because I had woods with no one around. I can't imagine how hard what you went through is
and the worst thing is, not a single person is ever immune from the possibility of becoming unhoused. Tons of people who end up on the streets just had a run of bad luck, getting sick, huge debt, untreated mental illness, etc. It keeps me very humble to know that in less than a week, I could be on the streets too. And its no wonder most unhoused people are generous- such unfathomable horror and struggle forces you to rely on others. It is quite literally in your best interests to help others around you and for them to do the same, we all need each other. It is how we as a species established society in the beginning- via mutual cooperation.
Elon should have to do a 1 year apprenticeship at being homeless so he could really understand the problem! But Elon is a coward and lacks the reasoning capabilities to attack that problem! Book smart isn't street smart or everyday smart it's in the realm of invincibly ignorant which characterizes his thinking process! Because of his invincibly ignorant life he'll never really have the capabilities to understand real life!
@@jasonmaclean719spent 25 billion what are you on? LA had a budget of 1.3 billion to alleviate homelessness last year, spent 599 million of it, with 195 million encumbered and 513 million unspent. So you're not only off by 41 times, the money they had wasn't even spent properly! Maybe you should make sure you're not pulling statistics out of your ass before talking.
Y'all wanna know the extra messed up part? This guy told the UN that if they could provide him with a comprehensive plan to solve world hunger or something, he would fund it. And they did, and it would have cost low double digit billions. Something he could *easily* have afforded, and been lauded for it. As evidenced by the state of the world, he did not. He is literally rich enough that he could throw enough money at homelessness or world hunger and eventually solve it. But he didn’t. Because he is a ghoul. I honestly believe he does not see non billionaires as people.
crazy how billionaires act so ontop of us yet one bullet from a gun shows just how weak and frail they really are. they're just humans with more paper than everyone else.
I mean, he put up a poll on Twitter trying to claim seriousness that he'd step down if the majority says he should. Then they did, and he just, glazes past it never having to address it. But he doesn't do things for practicality, he doesn't things for clout. He realised he can just claim things without following through, and still be credited as doing them with a loud enough group. It's sadly a major pillar of the right wing that brought them success; they don't have to be held to reality anymore. The benefit of the doubt, benefits them greatly.
@@EmperorPylades Probably. The man is rich enough that he could throw money at *systemic* issues, again, homelessness or world hunger, for example, and solve them. But he doesn't want to solve world hunger, he wants to shitpost on Twitter and get all the rewards, while doing none of the work.
I am a homeless transwoman. Living indoors again thankfully, with a friend who basically rescued me. Went from experiencing a *h*te cr*me to living in my car in four months. I was accosted one night smoking outside my car by a man who kept try to circle behind me while saying "you and your kind are ruining this country, my city." Mutual aid, and public emergency resources, and access to medical care have been keeping me alive most this year. Its rough. Thank you for not forgetting us! *That incident occurred in an ambulance, dangerous medical malpractice and what I can only describe as being t*rt*red. Long time waiting for the state to finish its investigation.
Fellow trans woman here. I know it doesnt help at all, but I feel you! Its a shame you had to endure this! You are not alone in experiencing this and I hope that you will find "true peace", to the extend it is possible for us rn, but experience true equal rights in the future! I know its pretty much a worthless comment, but I wish I had somebody telling me it will get better. (Eventhough it would seem like they were lying in retrospect...) Just feel hugged and loved queen!!!
That sucks so fucking much. I'm sorry you're going through it so badly. Congrats on securing the roof overhead! I'm glad you have people there for you.
I was homeless for 18 months. I'm forever trying to tell people that most homeless people look and act like anyone else, that you don't notice them because they're just going about their day. They could be standing next to you in line at the grocery store. Or they could be the cashier checking out your groceries, because a lot of homeless people have jobs. But of course, they just laugh at me like I don't know what I'm talking about, like I didn't experience it first hand. People like Elon only see the homeless people that are mentally ill or drug addicts, and they think that kind of person deserves no respect as a human being. I'm not saying that the people who have it more together are better than those who don't, far from it. But there is this common misconception that homeless people are just degenerates who are raving mad in the streets. And they hate those people, it's so easy for them to look down on the less fortunate and blame them for everything. But I want to impress on anyone who reads this, that homeless people are with you everywhere. It could be the person next to you at the bank, or the mom pushing a stroller in the park. You don't know they're homeless because they're not broadcasting it. They are invisible. There is a huge homelessness problem that people, especially conservatives, refuse to address. And it's only going to get worse with a trump/Elon administration.
The good news is that there are a lot of churches and organizations that are trying to help. My church, which is a huge one, is raising money to build a community outreach center to help those in this exact situation. It will have a food bank, counseling, and many other functions that will help the homeless population here in iowa. That being said, we cannot help everyone by ourselves. We need resources, volunteers, and help from those exact people who are suffering from homelessness who have experienced the problem themselves. If other churches with a heart for this population shared their offerings and told their congregations about the volunteer opportunities like the one at my church, we would be able to make a HUGE difference in this area. My hope is that the amount of people who have a heart for serving those in vulnerable situations explodes in number and spreads the word to others about these ministries. As mr burns from the simpsons said in one episode, "i want to see more theodore Roosevelts and less franklin ones."
@@parodisefound12I need to get off my ass and start doing some volunteer work like I always say I’m going to do. Wish I was in a much better position that I could give more and help a lot more people. But just have to accept helping a few people is better than helping no one
I am a homeless autistic trans person in a rich area with lots of social services, and it's a nightmare even here. I slept outdoors every day for 14 months. Currently I am in a shelter which has practically no resources to help us with. Complicating finding help is that because I am well spoken and (I'm told) hot, people often decide that I am not really homeless, don't really need help. Sure, I might have some stylish clothes, but I can't eat them! They only help a little when it's 20F degrees out. I've been trying to find help for YEARS with my autism-related communications issues, greatly compounded by PTSD and anxiety. While I am not a great candidate for employment, I have my own projects which I could go into business doing - but that kind of help isn't offered to those in my position. I want to go into SW to get myself afloat, but that risks alienating me from some of the little help I receive. I can only imagine how much worse it probably is in red states.
I appreciate how you pointed out that this sort of rhetoric is in no way new. People always say "those who don't learn history are doomed to repeat it" but at this point I'm convinced a lot of these ghouls are studying history with "Repeat It" as an explicit goal.
No kidding, that's why they weaponize social media. And are keeping the majority distracted from the man (plural and gender neutral in this case) behind the screen with new "big things" and culture wars (that are one sided).
Im a disabled grandma. Escaping an abusive marriage. I was in a hotell voucher program which after several months ended in a housing voucher for an apartment . There were many individuals and families that i witnessed helped by this program from the inside Some needed help and counseling to be ready for hotell and the apartment . Yes some were not Able to handle living in housing .But I and so many are helped. By programs just like this .
“It’s usually a propaganda word for violent drug addicts with severe mental illness” so you agree that they require more help than the average person? And that would therefore mean we would need to provide more accommodations and more *help* to them, therefore spending more money on them than we currently do?
they always target the most vulnerable groups first. today it's homeless people, and they'll come for you next. homelessness seems to be a hard subject even for liberals to show empathy for. this is why it's important to stand in solidarity of everyone
Liberals. Love that people think that means something. But this is what you get when Republicans control the narrative an come off as just being Conservative. I'm done talking...
They don't like the cognitive dissonance of people "outside" the system at best (they may think the majority choose such). Or if they are intelligent, they don't like the implications that they are both part of the problem (guilt) and one bad month from being in their shoes. Capitalism has classes, two main ones and outliers. The threat of being treated like that keeps people from developing empathy, because of FEAR. It doesn't function if it doesn't have something worse to scare the workers into compliance.
Like Italy, France have an emergency line you can ring if homelessness. They will help find accommodation, compassion for natives and non natives btw.... We also return drug addicts to therapy as much as they need until they are clean.
I read Elon's post and was angered. Especialy because earlier that day I had just went out of my way to help a homeless person. I had gone to the grocery store and noticed in the parking lot a lady with some belongings in a cart under a tarp, and a pet cat and dog. I went into the grocery store and got a Petsmart gift card for $50 and also gave some cash and put it in a Christmas card. I went out and gave the gift to the homeless lady, because I felt it was the right thing to do. All it takes is a little empathy. Because I always remember this obe fact: "We all are only 1 paycheck away from being in the shoes of a honeless person. So never shun the homeless." Even the Billionaire like Elon Musk is only 1 share away from ruin. So - have empathy. And treat the unhoused with care and a little respect.
A lot of gig drivers, fast food workers and custodians are homeless and not mentally ill and not violent. You just don’t know they’re homeless unless you do the math on minimum wage income and housing costs.
Basically my situation. And my car is fortunately quite nice but I sleep in it most nights. I don’t think my customers have a clue. They always have the most extravagant multi million dollar homes. They could change my life with like 1 hour of their income. Some people make such crazy money in Wall Street or their law firm or something. But the tips are never more than 100. They pay just enough to keep me fed so I can feed them.
I'll take you up on that offer, my diet is alredy extremely unhealthy, not like eating a living turd of a man can make it any worse, at the very least, at least I will be able to afford better food later
I used to work at a 24/7 Walgreens where a lot of homeless people would sit outside of and occasionally ask people for money. The amount of times customers would come in and say “there a homeless man out there” and look at me waiting for me to do something about it was a daily occurrence. I would basically tell them that there’s nothing I can do about it, and they would moan and complain at which point I’d say “welcome to America”. I tried my best to help out some of the homeless with spare money I had, food, drinks, cigarettes, clothes, etc, and my coworkers would be like “you’re just encouraging them” like no, I’m helping people that you can’t see the humanity of. Retail is its own kind of hell but whenever someone would come in complaining about someone simply sitting under the shelter I just saw red and looked at the customers with more disgust then they saw the homeless with.
Reality is people like him end like Marie Antoinette or the Romanovs, not like the Joker who just gets a week in Arkham. The good news is that there is plenty of wall space in the USA for Elong and all his cohorts to be stood up against.
He desperately wants to be Tony Stark, but he has the moral center of Lex Luthor, and the competence and ability of MCU Justin Hammer. Its just that in the real world, when you get that rich, you can only ever fail upwards.
I see in my own city where I've been all my life the homeless population grow as rents have skyrocketed and availability shrink (or seems to shrink even though I see constant construction). It's almost like people can't afford rent and once they get stuck in poverty/houseless cycle it just never ends. There used to be a family that lived in one of the apartments in my small complex now they are living in a van down one block. According to Musk this family is a myth! Musk is rotten to the core and now he has his own president. And we get to watch everyone else bend the knee and fall into place. jfc.
Was reading an article in my local paper about how Sedona was denying care for unhoused people in the area, citing that, I shit you not, "if we provide care, more people will 'choose' to become homeless, then we'll have more to take care of." Their source? The growth of the unhoused population in LA after the creation of their "program." These are the same people who voted against local taxes that would benefit the schools there because, "my kid doesn't go there." Rich nimby bastards don't understand, nor do they want to. Sadly it's getting so bad there that even wealthy folks end up losing everything due to minor snags, and their former neighbors would rather them freeze to death than spare some money to ensure that person is cared for. These people make me so incredibly sick
The thing i have noticed is an increasing competitiveness in our society. They aren't unfortunate people who the system failed they are "losers" and "failures". So giving them any help is like them cheating at life and giving them an unfair advantage.
@@veilenj The bottom economic half of the USA hold 2.1% of the wealth. ...I mean, capitalism admires and rewards viciousness, so yeah, social influence makes a lot of people vicious.
In some places taxes are too high that they don’t want to pay anymore. I think a lot of people look down on increasing taxes because of the government’s gross mismanagement. We could easily slightly decrease military spending and pay for universal healthcare and improve education across all fifty states.
We do have to realize across the board, they also keep increasing the taxes on housing. Richer areas are worse. In America, unfortunately, housing prices are skyrocketing and so are property taxes. I’ve been trying to look on Zillow for anything affordable to get a separate bedroom for kids for years but it’s insane. Doing that, I’ve seen houses that are bought and then posted one year later, because people couldn’t afford the mortgage and tax rate. Even posted at a lower cost than they bought it for, but it’s not worth the money it’s been inflated towards. Languishing for months on the market.
@@hamburger_bigmac_whopper I’m not even sure I want to wake up anymore! I genuinely don’t see how it’s going to get better. However, I think forcing myself into the forever sleep is extremely selfish and will NEVER do it. I’ll keep going for the other people around me.
I know people say this a lot but it's probably better for your mental health to try to hop off twitter/wherever you get your information from because being tired and sad doesn't help anybody especially yourself, although it is good to be knowledgeable it definitely shouldn't come at the cost of your mental health
My local tricity started putting in a light rail about a decade ago. Both of the larger cities enthusiastically voted for it to have stops everywhere inside their cities. Malls, large intersections, you can get anywhere in either city from anywhere. The part I live in is the smallest, it’s the least developed and it has the worst suburban sprawl of the three, and people here campaigned against the LRT with literal “not in my backyard” signs on their lawn. Houses with three cars in the driveway were standing between the rest of us and being able to get jobs in better parts of the tricities. The mayor listened to this bell ends and vowed to keep the LRT out of my town as long as he’s in office. The other two cities finished their construction and have been flourishing for years while my city has empty houses, people leaving so they can be closer to their jobs and businesses closing constantly cause they can’t find good workers or customers. There’s almost no foot traffic anywhere and the main business stroad is a 6 lane monstrosity that they want to add even more lanes to because it gets so backed up during rush hour. Except that won’t help because I’ve seen the traffic and it’s all in the left lane. People don’t use the other lanes unless they have to so it’s basically a two lane road with ✨passion.✨ Every day I have to leave over an hour before my appointments to get anywhere on time, I curse those people. I curse them with flat tires and broken tail lights and that they one day have to rely on the public transit they so hate. I curse them to one day be in need of assistance of some kind if only because then they’ll actually believe the infrastructure is good.
FR in the UK teenagers arent allowed to drive, i believe you need to be 18 to get a drivers licence. Even then car costs and insurance is more than most of us can afford. SO most of us rely on carpooling or public transport to get to work or school and it does work....until theres issues with under staffing, schedule changes etc. public transport is amazing if it functions properly. (fuck the privatization of the railways tho, the same journey should not cost £18 at 10am and £50 at 3pm)
My city was about to get a bus but since one of the proposed stops was on the border of a majority "lower class" town, it was struck down due to "security concerns" 😌😌
be careful, Uncle Fedra is watching and waiting to make examples of any of us PEONS that may "threaten" our Lords and Masters in charge...got 1 woman already
It would make the government more efficient. And that is his job now, right? He should try to stay at Luigi's mansion. Prolly a great place to get buried in the K-hole, no?
They already do. They don't crap where they eat often, so it is by proxy (war) or private islands and compounds if we want to get literal. And yes you can just look up some of that, usually in third world countries btw because less chances of survival. Think Epstein Island for a notable example.
California is implementing something called CARES Court, where family members can apply to take their loved ones to court to force them to get mental health care. This is supposed to help reduce the unhoused population, but when Newsome was asked directly if people who wen through the court would be guaranteed housing. He said "no." It also does no good to have a court mandate someone receive mental health care when there are not enough health care workers to provide the mandated care.
Or terminal/costly affliction, or one layoff, or one accident, or one bad decision, or one violent attack, etc. The system is designed to funnel people into homelessness to keep everyone else in check.
That’s very true. Even so called middle class people do. I had a customer one time ask me “What are y’all going to do about those people? Are you going to let them sit in the cafe?” And I was like “Excuse me? Yeah. That’s what we plan on doing and if you don’t like it then don’t get your coffee here.” They see the unhoused just as you said.
I live with my boyfriend in his parents' basement. Otherwise I'd be homeless because I can't hold down a job due to being autistic and having crippling anxiety and depression. I don't even have a driver's license. I'm so greatful that I was able to move in with my boyfriend after my dad passed away almost 3 years ago.
Reading posts like the one Elon Musk made infuriates me on a deep level. Me and my wife are disabled and are underemployed at the best of time. We require communal and governmental support. Social Darwinist scumbags like these see us less than human and I wish nothing but terrible things for them.
I was homeless and a heroin addict when I was a teen. I became a heroin addict AFTER I became homeless. Furthermore my homelessness was due to things out of my control - I was abandoned by my parents. I occasionally managed to get a job but its pretty hard to maintain a job with no stable place to live. I needed support
I don't know why people think Elon's a nice person? He has a very long history of doing horrible things. His not the hero who's going to save America. A lot of people think his going to help everyone; but if you look at his past words...🤷🏾♀️ humans have a very bad habit of putting rich people above everyone else. Thinking they're righteous for no reason.
@@matthewpulama106When i used to be on Twitter the amount of people, as the kids say these days, glazing him was just ridiculous. A lot of people were like “Bruh, he’s not going to marry you.” They fall all over themselves to get this man to notice them and it is so disgusting.
He spent years before joining the right-wing grift getting the media to present him to tech bros and liberals as this environmentally conscious guy who just really wants humans to make it to space and become Star Trek or whatever. Anyone who believed it then has no reason not to continue to believe it now. Nothing about his business practices or opinions like that have changed.
Amen. & very GOOD point: I've been out of homelessness almost 3 years now, about the same amount of time I was homeless...still terrified EVERY DAY I will end up back on the street because I fully depend on Social Security, section 8, & the "kindness" of my extremely ABUSIVE apt complex managers. I literally have 2 restraining orders against 2 separate people who live here, whom other tenants ALSO have restraining orders against-& they have NOT been kicked out. & I have my manager on video letting one of these psychos ASSAULT me in front of her face, in the office, broad daylight & the guy did not get kicked out, lives directly across the street from me........It's all trauma & it's ALL the time. Great reporting.
I’m clean for years, I tried to get help, they had the therapist gaslight me, them targeting me hurts my kids, they’re not saving anyone and it’s all shady grifts so they can play hero.
I’ve been homeless since becoming disabled about 2 years ago. I’m lucky enough to have a car to live in but it’s slowly breaking down and no heater in 10 degrees weather can get to be a lot. I think there are a lot of traumas with being unhoused that people don’t even realize. Imagine going weeks sometimes without a shower or clean clothes or hot food. Food stamps only covers cold food in most states and it’s not enough to last the month unless you can cook meals and store left overs. Which most of us can’t. I spend most of my days in pain that is made worse by the stress of my situation. I have no family and I’m limited to were I can go because of being trans and needing access to Medicaid. Medicaid has been taken over by United healthcare here this past year. I’ve struggled to get medicines and treatment since then. They fight my doctor every which way. It’s cold. It’s lonely. It’s dehumanizing. And with trump getting into office things are only going to get worse. I have a strong will to survive but it’s getting harder everyday. Thank you for talking about these things. The homelessness issue is worse than a lot of people even realize. Not everybody is noticeably homeless. There are stages at the very least. I wish there was a light at the end of the tunnel but best we can do is keep fighting till it appears. ❤
This is fucked up on so many levels. I live around the corner from an encampment of unhoused people. Do I wish the area was cleaner? Yes, but that's not on the people who live there; that's on the city for not providing them with dumpsters. To give folx an idea of just how big one billion is, if $1= 1 minute, the following are true: $100,000 = 69.5 days $1,000,000 = 1.9 years $1,000,000,000 = 1,902.6 years
Really is that what everybody says. I know over a hundred and fifty homeless people that I actually go out of my way to take care of whenever I have money. And I mean all of my money. You know what I found out that 88% of them are veterans and the other 20-something percent or less is actually just old people that the world just threw out and left on the streets like garbage. There's your morality folks there's your morality in America. Right out of the Old testament. There is your morality
Elon would just say, "Be glad that you have a roof over your head, even though the house is dilapidated." 19:58 And, from my experience, most apartments don't even have elevators. They just have stairs that you have to climb up and down. My mom told me how she had to struggle with getting up and down the stairs while she was on crutches when she was like in her teens. Christ, I'm not looking forward to my next housing inspection. I got the bed bug problem a bit under control.
I'm not in quite as bad a place as the people in that article (I live in my car) but the idea that homelessness is some sort of "lazy drug addict thing" is laughable. I am entirely sober (and have only even tried alcohol and smoked weed a few times anyways) and work an average of 50 hours a week. My credit is awful from student loans so I can't get into any apartment complexes or rent from any landlords that do much of a credit check, I don't want to move away from this area because my mom is the only family I have left and I don't want to be too far away from here, plus I've got a job and don't love the idea of giving that up just to move to a LCOL area and hope I'll be able to find something new immediately. I would love advice from Elon about what exactly I should be doing. Should I risk the danger of renting from a slumlord? Should I abandon my mother? Should I wager everything on a move to a lower cost of living area despite my relative stability right now? So freaking out of touch, jesus.
i waited 5 months to get into a transitional housing program that didn't help me and kicked me out when i stood up for myself and my priorities. they wanted me to get a job at any cost to my mental health, without providing transportation, and would not negotiate a plan based on my priorities. i have two videos on my channel about it. the state of the system is awful at every turn.
If you actually interview, people that are on the streets, many of them are out there escaping domestic violence. The youth are out there escaping conservative households and many are just heart sick. Because they lost family and friends in freak accidents or other things like losing their home because they couldn't afford the mortgage. These billionaires are so out of touch. We need to stop buying their products and giving them airtime.
My family was homeless for about a year when I was in middle school. Two parents, four kids, a bunch of pets. This was after years of hopping from place to place as my parents lost jobs and couldn't make rent. We lived in motels for awhile then in our car for awhile after that. My parents were just a young couple with a bunch of kids that had fallen on hard times with jobs constantly downsizing. Drug addicts certainly deserve support and housing (you know, things that should be basic human rights) but they are certainly not the only homeless ones on the street. Poverty hurts everyone impacted by it, but especially those that are the most marginalized in our society.
Taking merely one coin from a dragon is the greatest offense in their eyes. How could you expect a dragon to survive if they can't sit on their massive hoard they don't do anything with in the first place
Almost 20 years ago when my two kids were little; my husband (at the time) lost his job, and we lost our apartment. We were technically homeless while we stayed in a small hotel room saving money for a new apartment. I had been a stay-at-home mom (It was my choice, and positions switched off and on.) at the time, and neither of us were any of those things they said about homeless people (and those people need help too, especially as poor mental healthcare plays a big role.). Homelessness has a lot of faces.
The best way to properly display the difference between one million and one billion is in seconds. One million seconds is a little under 12 days. One billion seconds is a little under 32 years. At 30 years old, I have not yet been alive for one billion seconds. If I was given 1 dollar each second from the day I was born, I would still not be classed as a billionaire.
If the nonprofit paying for the rooms for us was even an hour late with the rent for everyone, the motel staff would have us pack up and sit off the property until the rent came through before we could move back into our rooms. usually between 3-5pm every friday because they were weekly motels.
not to mention every type of violence and abuse in every room around me and the parking lot every night, fights and gunshots and trafficking pimps watching me everytime i go out and i legit have ptsd from that motel
I was homeless, twice. I was young both times, so I was able to adjust easily. And I had wilderness survival skills. Homelessness is not a choice. It is a circumstance. Something that happens to people.
I run nonprofit housing for 20 people in a warehouse that is not really habitable and that is not food or anything, we do have stuff like toilet paper and cleaning for the building. We take in (and spend, I don't mean we take it in as profit) about 280K a year. So yes, including amenities and actually being up to code and all that stuff you would hit 160 million very easily, like if you built an elevator that would probably be a couple hundred thousand dollars I think and you do need an elevator because a lot of homeless people are disabled.
"You have people who have nothing!" Sometimes less than nothing, with things like debt in mind. Especially in a country where one medical mishap can destroy your chance of ever having money again.
I’m trying to find a way to move out of my abusive household. I’m trans, not Christian, not conservative, and live in Texas. I’m 23 and have been stuck here. I don’t know how to escape because I have no friends or support groups, the only people I talk to are online despite me trying to find people irl. Honestly I am preparing to end up homeless soon because I just can’t afford rent anywhere. Mind you I have always been lucky and able to have a job, tho none of them have paid a livable wage. It sucks because I really want to be able to attend art school but I can’t afford that either, I can barely pay for the stand alone classes. The scary thing is, I am much more privileged than others in this, I can’t imagine what others in less fortunate situations are going thru
Totally not proving his former daughter right in her assessment that Rich people are evil, no sir re, nothing evil about calling most homeless people violent drug addicts and calling any thought process outside of that “propaganda” and also defended the Healthcare CEO that Luigi assassinated, again he isn’t totally 100% evil
Ah that wasn't a joke lol. He actually COULD, and world hunger too but flaked when asked to pull through. Smarter people than him were asked by him (obviously a publicly stunt on his end) about ending world hunger. They actually made a plan that pretty much any billionaire could do. Even if it would take years, it would only be a fraction of their worth. But guess why they didn't? If you guessed that if the world was less messed up they would have less power. Then you would be correct. They (multiple of the 1%) have it on written record that it would kill the grifts they got rich on!
The right is projecting like it always has. I've heard coworkers and my boss say stuff like this completely mask off, not to mention transphobia and homophobia. Needless to say I left that job even though I wasn't out yet.
You know who lived choosing to be homeless? The same guy who said "It is easier for a rich man to pass through the eye of a needle than to enter the kingdom of God"
I keep saying if he existed now, they would do worse than crucify him. All the things they hate, Immigrant Brown Hippie with socialist and humanist philosophy. That's just the tip of that iceberg lol.
The fact that people are homeless is the manifestation of systemic failure after failure. What happened the other day with Daniel Penny was the most blatant sign of 2 horrific systemic failures. In a functional society Jordan Neely would've been in a hospital getting help and not left to rot on the street. These rich people can't see past themselves and that's exactly why they're as rich as they are. If they bothered to go after the people that buy up all the housing and price people out of housing, or ya know, not let them do it in the first place. Homelessness is skyrocketing because our system continues to fail
I can only say safety is important, and don't worry about ghosts. I used to bum around graveyards and clean, it was quieter and safe for the area. It's other people who are too eager (to help) you need to worry about ok?
They are still there, making up BS and trying to gaslight populations into thinking they aren't parasites. We are divided about topics as usual, but now they are going for absolute control.
These people condemn welfare while taking huge corporate welfare "investments" In my area for instance (The Upper Peninsula of Michigan) there is a mine coming in and the local government is offering them 50 million dollars to "help" this company build their mine. Same for sporting arenas. Why is that ok?
And this has been a problem that needed to be addressed for a long time! It's not just "people nowadays" as people like Musk want us to think. I worked at the Phoenix Public Library in the early 90s and there were always homeless men who spent the day in the reading room to get out of the heat. 30 years ago, and it's only worse as housing costs have skyrocketed. Our son is living with us because his entire wages would go to rent now.
I used to work at my local Walmart, and I would see homeless people sitting out front of the store. They just want to be treated as people; no different from the rest of us

Right wingers act like San Francisco has a homeless problem because it has a drug problem, but it doesn't. SF has relatively low drug use compared to most US cities. It has a homeless problem because the median home price is $1.5m. Drug use is more visible in SF cuz they can't afford to get high inside like they can in other cities.
Elon probably has his homeless employees living at his warehouses. No, that's probably being too generous to him. He rather we all freeze too death outside because he doesn't want us messing up his "beautiful" products.
Not to mention, financial and spiritual abuse since there are way too many churches that attach strings to homeless people getting any sort of aid or a bed to sleep in at night.
With a guilty conscience their every accusation is a confession. They forget they are human at the end of the day, and are just as afraid of bleeding red.
Yet some people think I spend too much time on the internet and should just put the phone down. Well Elon should just unplug the server and needs to first before me or anyone else to get off the internet!!
If I have 1 million dollars and I use $100,000 of that per year, that 1 million dollars will last me 10 years. If I have 1 billion dollars and I use $100,000 of that per year, that 1 billion dollars will last me 10,000 years. If I have 1 billion dollars and I use 1 MILLION of that per year of that PER YEAR, that 1 billion dollars would last me 1,000 YEARS. Even if I pay 90% of that in taxes, that is 100 YEARS of 1 MILLION DOLLARS PER YEAR!
Hey musk, I got thrown out of 1 of my previous rentals; becuase me and my mother" her with stage 4 cancer, and me middle of winter, no were to go, broke, laid off from cronovirus, paid every payment.... on time" unemployment check after layoff" !" asked us to leave. Bullshit!!!
I was homeless for a time and that was my response as well
Yeah, I really hate when people use drug use against people, because trust me, you don’t end up with severe addiction without something in your life being shitty.

I am Jack's complete lack of surprise.
crazy how billionaires act so ontop of us yet one bullet from a gun shows just how weak and frail they really are. they're just humans with more paper than everyone else.
He sees non-billionaires as yet more resources to exploit.

The irony of Elon looking down on people as "drug addicts."

Agreed. Most folks are one pay check away from homelessness

Hugs.

I appreciate how you pointed out that this sort of rhetoric is in no way new. People always say "those who don't learn history are doomed to repeat it" but at this point I'm convinced a lot of these ghouls are studying history with "Repeat It" as an explicit goal.

“It’s usually a propaganda word for violent drug addicts with severe mental illness” so you agree that they require more help than the average person? And that would therefore mean we would need to provide more accommodations and more *help* to them, therefore spending more money on them than we currently do?
Please keep in mind that Elong is deeply stupid as a human being. Disgustingly rich and stupid as a bag of hammers is a dangerous combo.
they always target the most vulnerable groups first. today it's homeless people, and they'll come for you next. homelessness seems to be a hard subject even for liberals to show empathy for. this is why it's important to stand in solidarity of everyone
"All power to all people!" - Fred Hampton
Idk who Elon thinks he is to lecture others about addiction and mental health 🤡

Ive lived in Chula Vista CA, southwest end of San Diego county for most of my life.
And I've seen the homeless population explode in the last decade.
We could easily slightly decrease military spending and pay for universal healthcare and improve education across all fifty states.

Words can't describe how much I loathe people who impede the development of public transit...
People don’t use the other lanes unless they have to so it’s basically a two lane road with ✨passion.✨
Every day I have to leave over an hour before my appointments to get anywhere on time, I curse those people.
Or terminal/costly affliction, or one layoff, or one accident, or one bad decision, or one violent attack, etc. The system is designed to funnel people into homelessness to keep everyone else in check.
@@IJustAnimateThatsTheJist Hell, one pricey traffic ticket could mean someone can't afford rent that month.
I've been so close several times in a poor red county of SC. There's not enough jobs, yet every company insists on being understaffed forever.
You could run that program for 36 YEARS if you gave it the same amount of money that the NYPD gets in one.
These people literally just think of homeless people as beasts, not humans
That’s very true. Even so called middle class people do. I had a customer one time ask me “What are y’all going to do about those people? Are you going to let them sit in the cafe?” And I was like “Excuse me? Yeah. That’s what we plan on doing and if you don’t like it then don’t get your coffee here.” They see the unhoused just as you said.
Yep, dehumanisation
I live with my boyfriend in his parents' basement. Otherwise I'd be homeless because I can't hold down a job due to being autistic and having crippling anxiety and depression. I don't even have a driver's license. I'm so greatful that I was able to move in with my boyfriend after my dad passed away almost 3 years ago.
Reading posts like the one Elon Musk made infuriates me on a deep level. Me and my wife are disabled and are underemployed at the best of time. We require communal and governmental support. Social Darwinist scumbags like these see us less than human and I wish nothing but terrible things for them.
I really appreciate the righteous anger on this topic. Thank you for talking about this!

Elon stans are just the friggin' worst.
@@matthewpulama106When i used to be on Twitter the amount of people, as the kids say these days, glazing him was just ridiculous. A lot of people were like “Bruh, he’s not going to marry you.” They fall all over themselves to get this man to notice them and it is so disgusting.
Remember, the very rich declared class war on us first.
Cuz he's an Internet troll with money, so the sad incels get a messiah
Muskrat wouldn't last a day on the streets.
Only one way to find out! XD
I’m clean for years, I tried to get help, they had the therapist gaslight me, them targeting me hurts my kids, they’re not saving anyone and it’s all shady grifts so they can play hero.
I'm disabled, and houseless, and I hope Mario, Yoshi, Toad, and Princess Peach all come for Elon.
Let elon meet me with my mental health issues and he will be scared of me for the rest of his life.
To give folx an idea of just how big one billion is, if $1= 1 minute, the following are true:
$100,000 = 69.5 days
$1,000,000 = 1.9 years
$1,000,000,000 = 1,902.6 years
Really is that what everybody says.
Anyone else feeling very 1780s right now?

Elon would just say, "Be glad that you have a roof over your head, even though the house is dilapidated."
19:58 And, from my experience, most apartments don't even have elevators.
A waitlist for housing longer than a day is a total policy failure.
i waited 5 months to get into a transitional housing program that didn't help me and kicked me out when i stood up for myself and my priorities. they wanted me to get a job at any cost to my mental health, without providing transportation, and would not negotiate a plan based on my priorities. i have two videos on my channel about it. the state of the system is awful at every turn.
Deny, Defend, Depose!
I really don't even want to go back to living with my mom and sister. We just bring out the worst out in each other.
Musk is reported to be worth $400 billion. He could give $200 billion to help the homeless and still have everything he wants.
But what he wants is to hurt people.
Commenting for the algorithm! I actually really enjoy the stream highlights, because I don't always have time to watch the whole stream.
Thank you! 🙏
I live on a PSH voucher and the hotel was scary
If the nonprofit paying for the rooms for us was even an hour late with the rent for everyone, the motel staff would have us pack up and sit off the property until the rent came through before we could move back into our rooms. usually between 3-5pm every friday because they were weekly motels.
not to mention every type of violence and abuse in every room around me and the parking lot every night, fights and gunshots and trafficking pimps watching me everytime i go out and i legit have ptsd from that motel
but that was from the paying tenants - the drug dealers and traffickers- which the motel enabled and never enforced the rules on.
Oh, nevermind you mentioned that.
1 Million seconds are 11.5 days.
1 Billion seconds are 31.7 years.
"You have people who have nothing!"
Sometimes less than nothing, with things like debt in mind.
If the solution is not more money, then why is Musk always seeking ways to make more money?
Elon is not as moral as he thinks
Didn’t this dude joke about being rich enough to end poverty?
Ah that wasn't a joke lol. He actually COULD, and world hunger too but flaked when asked to pull through. Smarter people than him were asked by him (obviously a publicly stunt on his end) about ending world hunger. They actually made a plan that pretty much any billionaire could do. Even if it would take years, it would only be a fraction of their worth.
But guess why they didn't? If you guessed that if the world was less messed up they would have less power. Then you would be correct. They (multiple of the 1%) have it on written record that it would kill the grifts they got rich on!
I'll finish this later I'm already angry enough and must interact with coworkers and customers. Naked rage is not good in service jobs.
@deaddomain just wanted to tell you, you are beautiful! Thanks for making these videos to keep us educated and informed! Keep on Shining:)
Hey, I'm going to be homeless soon. One more for the stats!
😢
I can only say safety is important, and don't worry about ghosts. I used to bum around graveyards and clean, it was quieter and safe for the area. It's other people who are too eager (to help) you need to worry about ok?
Astute. Well-presented.
What happened to the rich and greedy misers were the bad guys for the under dogs to take down?
They are still there, making up BS and trying to gaslight populations into thinking they aren't parasites. We are divided about topics as usual, but now they are going for absolute control.
Toronto, Canada is getting worse and worse. Doug Ford got rid of safe comsumption sites and they keep tearing down encampments.
These people condemn welfare while taking huge corporate welfare "investments"
In my area for instance (The Upper Peninsula of Michigan) there is a mine coming in and the local government is offering them 50 million dollars to "help" this company build their mine.
Same for sporting arenas. Why is that ok?
Because it makes them more money.
Elon Musk is the biggest welfare queen in the USA.
He literally markets his cars as less expensive than they actually are because they calculate in government subsidies.
I'm homeless and I appreciate your support of our population. I'm sharing this to Facebook. Thanks for making this video!

With the money that Elon has, He could help stop the problem rather than just throw it under the Bus!,🔥
The 1% is making me feel very French in my peasantry.
Oui Oui *looks at antique family heirloom guillotine*
Elon probably has his homeless employees living at his warehouses. No, that's probably being too generous to him. He rather we all freeze too death outside because he doesn't want us messing up his "beautiful" products.
Not to mention, financial and spiritual abuse since there are way too many churches that attach strings to homeless people getting any sort of aid or a bed to sleep in at night.
Twist everything to fit their narrative. You know like they claim we do...
With a guilty conscience their every accusation is a confession. They forget they are human at the end of the day, and are just as afraid of bleeding red.
"The more money spent combating homelessness, the worse it gets.” Jesus Christ 33 AD.
Yet some people think I spend too much time on the internet and should just put the phone down. Well Elon should just unplug the server and needs to first before me or anyone else to get off the internet!!
Why do i feel like we are all just characters in a Philip K. Dick novel?
Elon is soulless
Bullshit!!!
They are sick people, not animals!,🕊
Elon's DOGE will make recommendations like this every day for the next four years, I can just feel it.
To this day I get physically ill when it's time to move, if stresses me that much. Idk if I will ever be secure enough to stop.
