Spent all morning yesterday listening to their back catalogue. The singer is unbelievable- you can hear blues, punk, rock’n’roll in his delivery, tight guitars and that drummer? Wow!
These guys were just so great. They could easily have been relevant and popular in the '60s or '70s (but with better sound quality!). I love a big drum kit as well as the next guy (and someone like Neil Peart or Carl Palmer who can play it) but it's interesting to see how much can be done with a kit resembling one from the early days of Ringo Starr. As someone who grew up with Alice Cooper, Led Zeppelin, Black Oak Arkansas, and Emerson Lake and Palmer, The Von Bondies might be my favorite band of this millennium.
I kind of misspoke - when I said with better sound quality than the '60s I really meant recording quality. With modern technology The Von Bondies' intentional LoFi sound comes across brilliantly!@@slytherinhousesessions7315
If it weren't for the web and YT, would there be so many bands playing the same old pseudo-vintage catchphrases...? It's funny, in the 80's, there weren't many bands playing this type of music... with A-Bones, or a few good European combos. But now everyone's jumping on the bandwagon, and you can just kick a garage into shape and there's 100 of them! The same goes for vintage guitars, nowadays they're so easy to get! Yeah, I'm an ole fuckin count jealous bastard... I know!ok guys, that’s a good show, good music and good references. Just get me back to the nursing home I’m gonna miss Benny Hill 🎉
Good band these were , better than the shite around today, these, the greenhornes, the strokes, the Coral, white stripes, Babyshambles great bands from 2000s
The drummer is next level.
I've said it before.
Donny Blum, I've known him since around 1991 in Ann Arbor Michigan. His other band Mazinga are quite awesome as well.
😂
The drummer is a beast.
Rumour has it his hi hat is still in bubble wrap to this day!
Miss that band.Things were good when we were young...............

Von Bondies are awesome
Always loved that pink drum kit...
Jason's voice on Pawn Shoppe Heart sounds just like the record!
They had incredible energy in this show, those people don’t realize how lucky they are to see them, Von Bondies remind me of The White Stripes
Von bondies kick ass
This guys got an amazing voice

Fucking Detroit rock and roll , some of the best out there ...
Erm...that kit looks NOTHING like the kit Ringo had. You clearly know nothing about drums or drumming. Please be quiet.
I find The "Very" Intentionally LoFi dripping Wet Reverb quite appealing...

I miss 2004
This is how Detroit does it.
They fucking nailed Pawn Shoppe Heart
I bought a t shirt from the guys yesterday
You mean a t-shirt with their band logo or a t-shirt from _the guys_ ?
I've bought a Kawasaki t shirt 2 years ago.
I bought a t shirt off Charles Manson , had his face on it, I think it was off him anyway…..
FUCK YEAH!!!!!!!
Guy's guitar is an Eko 5000 v4 I think
It's an Eko Condor V4 his main Guitar, though he plays a 500 (not 5000) on the video for C'mon C'mon for some reason
Hound Dog Taylor guitar !!! 👌
Does anyone know what happened to them?
jack who¿¿

Ah I loved it when hipsters tried to play music. These guys were hilarious.
