C'mon, how about totally tar papering it, and covering that with the green Zipboard? That Zipboard should be able to stand the weather for I believe 6 months? ❤❤
David, put that Cool Seal on the Shingles… Roll it on & it should give you at least a year or so before you have Metal the Roof. Or you can do the Tarp 🤷♀️
You can still put the metal over the Cool seal when you’re ready to fix it 😉 Good Luck Until the next one 😉💞🇺🇸

There were houses in Lake Charles that had blue tarps on the roofs over a year after Katrina hit. Good solution to the problem to give you time to do what you need to do.

Bummer about the roof but was expected since it's been abandoned so long. Big heavy tarp should get you through until you can get it fixed. ❤

Leaaving the shingles on under the metal will give you some insulation.

Dave, just out of curiosity, have you considered just removing the old shingles, and just cover the roof in Ice and Water? That would by some time and less up front expense.

i fell down the youtube rabbit hole (again) and found something you could maybe use on your property you are restoring (the rv park)
and that was security cameras, the thing that made me think of you was that they are solar powered security cameras so basically they do not need power because they come whit their own
you may have better solution and have that part in the bag but the cameras i fund was made by reolink,
i just wanted to help out and i thought you maybe wanted to check them out and see if it was something for you :)

You can GACO it for a good temporary seal for this season.
When you go up on the roof have someone there to watch you might need some help. In case the roof give way...be prepared for the worse & hope for the best. We don't want you to have a drafters down moment.

If you go with the tarp.get something to strap it down to keep it from billowing up underneath . It will hold it down much longer .

Hey David how would putting some tarpaper over the old shingles to keep it dry until you get ready for the metal roof, plus it will be almost ready for the metal except for the wood strips, if you plan on using them. Mike the spider monkey could help you and probably won’t take too long. Just fyi , I don’t know if it’s even possible for you at this time. But sounded like a good idea to big dummy me.

What about using a large parshot to put over the roof .
The rubberized roofing will cost a couple hundred. But it would work and be more of a permanent temporary fix until done right.

Hi David. Hello from rainy Illinois. I do not like rainy days but don't have to worry about muddy roads like you all do. Was wondering if you put down sand would that help? I know during snowy season sand helps you get out of being stuck in the snow. Just wondering. Sorry about your roof but I'm glad you didn't paint the floor etc. I hope you can get it fixed before winter. Even a temporary fix. Will zip boards help or the paper you put up to stop leaks under zip boards. Hopefully prices go down soon for everything.
