    I think I love you... in a completely platonic, non-idolized, but highly respected and appreciated sort of way. :) Not only does the average female tend to not do much except annoy me (especially TH-camrs), but seemingly interesting videos are so VERY hit and miss (often miss). Your series, however, is refreshingly informational AND enjoyable, and your personality is unexpectedly likable. So I would just like to Thank You for being an asset to the digital age and actually having something of value to offer humanity. Please keep doing what you do, and may you have nothing but good luck and blessings in all your endeavors.

      +balancingthedark Lol. As if your words carry weight or authority over who is contributing to humanity and who isn't. Your opinion is only that, an opinion. The proper comment would've been. "Your series, however, is refreshingly informational AND enjoyable, and your personality is unexpectedly likable. So I would just like to Thank You!" The rest of what you wrote is just you trying to hold on to some sort of self-acceptance or validation that your opinion matters (which it doesn't) because I'm almost willing to bet that you haven't done anything to be an asset to humanity. But that is just my observation.

      +Tony Bravo WOW, you told him. The lady in the video is speaking of what it really takes to sustain a lasting relationship and to build upon it. One of the main points she makes is that of showing kindness. If one has kindness in their heart they will automatically show it to people other than their partner too, it flows out from the heart and is visible in one's actions towards all of humanity. I hope you didn't miss all of what she is saying because there is a lot of truth in it and she put it forth very nicely and with some humor thrown in.

      +balancingthedark Don't give up hope, us women are here and we are intelligent, humorous, and interesting. However, I fully understand what you are expressing here but it sounds to me like you are exposed to the wrong kind of women. Open your horizons and you will find us

    • @balancingthedark
      @balancingthedark 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Aww, haha. You'd think I called people out by name. Try to compliment a woman for being exceptional... *sigh*.
      Still, I suppose I could apologize to those who decided to take personal offense at what I mistakenly assumed were blatant observations about the current state of so-called humanity on our Sick Sad World... but I'm really just sorry that you have to live with that kind of sensitivity.

    • @qorilla

    • @qorilla

      Jack Freeman No. Rich people in general don't even notice money, so they say it's not important. Because it's there by default. You have a home, a car, money to eat out, travel around, pay the bills etc. But money is sooo unimportant...

    • @applewitheveryone
      @applewitheveryone 9 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Oh I wouldn't exactly say money makes us "free" given how it can make people susceptible to being enslaved to materialistic and ultimately less fulfilling aspirations. But yes, I agree that we do need money up to a certain extent. As it stands, money is simply the means that allows us to pursue to "better things in life" (e,g. art, travel). Let's just try not to make our happiness rely too heavily on money because there are still beautiful things that come with little to no cost: a beautiful sunset, a bright full moon, a walk in the park, and as the video pointed out, "[being open to] love" (although whether or not love is really free is debatable). Even something simple as a pen and paper can do wonders. "Appreciating the little things," I'd say.

    I agree with you, I'm 17 and I haven't had the desire for a pertner relationship for some time since I kind of feel like my parents give me the love I need. So far it has definitely had a positive effect on my personality and I can definitely say that I am proud of who I've become. I feel extremely confident to move on in life and tackle bigger life goals like finishing university with flying colours, getting a job, moving out etc. An extremely good video! :D Love ya!

    I love your channel Vanessa. I just recently found it & it's so informative and well-presented!
    I'm answering your question before I start the video on "things that would make me happy." ;) Interesting enough, I find personal achievements and goals I set for myself to be amazingly rewarding. This can mean being the top ranked student or setting small goals like "I'm going to ____ by ____." Nothing's better than achieving this goal before the actual due date & going on to the next one. Seriously, this "rewarding" feeling is my kryptonite!

    There is a paradox with being open to love. The other person becomes so overzealous of you that anything you do that dissatisfies them causes them to start getting in the way of everything you attempt. This severely weighs down your life.

    Love might sustain my happiness for several years, but if you ask whether it is all you need, you have to consider how the government pretty much makes it so that you won't make it very far without a bit of cash, and I don't think people who live on disabilities tend to get enough cash to live on love, considering how love makes you want to be charitable, and if you're too charitable while you're disabled you're broke, and then you aren't happy.

    Everyone has their own life to live and should live it freely. Bullying someone or discriminating someone for being different than you while they are not harming anyone is harmful.
    Most people desire to kiss someone they are attracted to. If it is willing to both people that is the only thing that matters. Not the judgmental views of others. As you do to others so shall it be done to you. Who here lacks so much empathy that they would need to experience an entire lifetime of what it feels like to be victimize or be what they don't understand and hate?

  • @ThunderGodCid

    Skews things in my mind when you say something like men who have a positive relationship with their mother make on average $87,000 more. If you don't like your parents either it's your fault (and you are going to make many other mistakes b/c of it) or it's their fault (and your life will be much more difficult b/c of it) no matter what you do, both your parents (or lack thereof) are a huge part of your life, and a statement this broad basically demands clarification.

    The study is selective and heavily biased, which is especially relevant if you wanted to extrapolate its findings to our current state of society. For example, participants are affluent to the degree or supported enough (which brings another class of experiences) to become undergrads. Any early adversarial experience (which source is likely your family or extended family!) seems to have no effect on this. And the umwelt is such a one that you marry sooner, and have less choice on the matter (literally, and figuratively!). This leaves open the possibility that *through* love you could turn to a path that will leave you even more unhappy (toxic relationships enabled by traumata, forfeit professional opportunities for love which prematurely ends…).

    I don't know. If I myself had to chose between "love" and "money and power" for example, I'd without a flinch opt for the latter. I believe it could make me happy for the lifetime, whereas the love, more so romantic one, would not really do much for me. Personally.
    More so when I consider that this "romantic love" is pretty much a fictional concept minted by middle-age era poets, intoxicated with absinthe, bored to death, who constantly sought justification for their bohemia n lifestyle.
    That does not mean, though, that I don't believe that a romantic love has a physiological impact on most of the people. As any form of behavioral conditioning, it certainly does. I simply think that the romantic love is a fake notion, perpetuated by phenomenons such a trending, peer pressure, identification and compensation.
    Considering all that, it could not make me happy personally. I would feel like I'm on drugs, which would eventually make me question, what will happen If I run out of the drug? What have I really accomplished to be proud and / or happy of? Money on the other hand, can literately buy anything but physical immortality, on this Earth, just as long as You have enough of it. Happiness included, of course :)
    That's my take on this, anyway :) Maybe we are not all uniform when it comes to effect of love

    anybody with your physiognomy would do just fine...and it is good to know your mind apparently meets the same standards.
