- Hi hi :) Hope you are well, this one is a day in the life starting off the morning in Lewes then heading back to London, doing some spring cleaning and ending the night at my brother's for a tapas and wine. Hope you enjoy xxxx

Hi Jess, I hope you are keeping well. I'm a mature subscriber but i do enjoy watching all ages of vloggers. Gosh i wish i was 30 again. You always look so fresh and alive with an up beat personality. Your skin looks amazing. I really enjoyed this vlog and it was lovely to spend it with you all. Regards to plastic on fruit and veg i totally agree. Its absolute madness. Such a waste and bad for mother nature. Anyway have a great start to June. Gosh i cant believe we're half way to the C word already. (christmas) lol. x

I was also terrible at cooking rice until I got a rice cooker! It's so easy and you get perfect rice every time, it's probably my favourite kitchen gadget and it was about £30 from Argos! 1 cup rice to 2 cups water, pop it in the rice cooker and you get perfect rice!! It's worth it if you cook rice a fair bit and makes food prep so much easier :)
Totally agree with a rice cooker recommendation - it was a game changer for me
So many people have also suggested rice cookers! I think i need to pick one up now especially when they are pretty reasonably priced and take the hassle out of cooking rice! thanks for the tip xxx

In Sweden everything is in plastic also, even cumcumbers!! Wrapped in plastic. I think they are passing a new law soon to reduce plastic packaging around food. I also heard about bees wraps to pack food instead of plastic films and will try to give it a try
That is such a good thing, I think it takes government to take action for the big companies to listen. Ooh I need to try the bees wrap definitely xx

On the rice/1 part rice and 2 parts water. Bring to boil the set to low and cover til all water absorbed. Hope that helps! :)

You have to buy the M&S rice cooker, it’s about £10 and you pop it in the microwave .. perfect rice every time !! Javk the food looked fantastic ❤

It’s so funny how it goes with supermarkets. Growing up, my family shopped at Tesco but I’m very much a Sainsburys/M&S gal these days. Preferably M&S but there isn’t one near me so I tend to get most things from Sainsburys. The main time that changes is in the run up to Christmas where I’ll go everywhere to see who has what by way of good Christmas treats! The food looked amazing at your brother’s place and hopefully things are going better for him now. Hope you’re having a lovely weekend! x
I love M&S that would definitely be my number one, but it can be more expensive and I don;t have a local one. The quality of the food is so good though, and tesco is pretty reasonable too. Thanks so much, always leaving me such kind comments love chatting with you! xx

Hi Jess - love your content. I know that kitchen bench space is an issue in your flat but if you are such a fan of sparkling water perhaps you should consider getting a Sodastream. It will save on the plastic and you can purchase the syrups to make so many flavours.
This is very true, it also probably wouldnt take up as much space as a two litre bottle of sparkling water and like you say less plastic! Will look into it thanks! xxx

I learned the best way EVER on how to cook rice some years ago - have made it so much easier after I adapted that:
Add wanted amount of rice in a pot. Add water until it reaches the first knuckle on your index finger, then cook for the time mentioned on the package. Perfect every time!
First time I ordered groeceies online (during covid) I didn't got that the bananas were sold by piece - so I ordered 1 (believeing I'd get one bunch of bananas) They sent ONE banana - and gave it its own box also.. :p

Oh what have you thought of cottage cheese! Actually been on a kick of having a bowl for breakfast or brunch or a snack. I top it with fruits, nuts, honey, seeds, etc.
I don’t love the texture sadly! I made it into some little cheesy egg muffins which made it more digestible but I don’t think I could eat it on its own annoyingly, I was hoping I’d like it more 💔

Loved this! As for feta, I never finish it either so I saw this hack where you can just pop it into a Tupperware filled with water and some salt (brine) and it stays fresh for a long time! X

Good morning from me 🇨🇦 I’m salivating after watching the spread your brother put on for you and Matt. Yum! So nice to live close enough to hang out like that. I agree with the plastic on fresh items - ridiculous. One English cucumber or a head of broccoli wrapped in plastic - why? Ok cottage cheese: I like just with salt and pepper. I’m not into mixing it with fruit salad. My sister puts it in egg bites to make them fluffy. Tuna: I like white onion and celery for crunch. What did you drink at the pub with your brother and Matt? It looked like a yummy summer drink perfect for the patio. Went to the gym yesterday and I didn’t sleep in and miss it #yayme lol Enjoy the rest of your weekend. I can’t believe it’s June!
Yaay love that you are watching from beautiful canada! So true my brother is a brilliant cook he did so well. Ugg I know it infuriates me so much and then we end up with so much recycling! Ooh I love the idea of using it in egg bites.. I actually have some eggs and cottage cheese to use up. At the pub I had an Aperol Spritz it was such a fun sunny evening and the perfect end to the bank holiday weekend. Well done I love when mornings go to plan, especially with a gym session! We get our groceries from Abel and Cole & Waitrose for items A & C do not carry ... for brown rice I do what our Delia told us ... measure a half cup of rice, boil twice the rice measure of water, cover turning the heat down to the lowest mark. Do NOT look at for 35 - 40 minutes ... then it will be cooked ...
I've heard of Abel & Cole I might give it a try, I think we get fruit in our office delivered from them! Brilliant I actually have Delia's book somewhere I'll give that a try xx
I have to admit I’m a Tesco girl too, sometimes the sell by dates on the packages of Tesco includes a letter and a number, the letter is the month and the number is the date, for example January will start with an A and so on until December which will be L, so F10 will be best before 10th of June. Loving your vlogs x
Oh thanks that's good to know, I was thinking about the Pak Choi having no date and thought hmm that's weird I thought they had to include one! I think in this food shop we maybe slightly over ordered as our tiny little fridge is still packed out! But so nice to have all our meals in for the week! Hope you are having a lovely weekend! xx

Tesco always have really short sell by dates - Matt isn't wrong.. also school of wok rice steamer (ours is Betterware but don't seem to be available anymore..) with the separate inside section, Perfect rice every time. Not sure re brown but white basmati as much rice as you like, pour boiling water to just over the level of the rice, 10 mins on max & it's perfect ❤

Wow Jess Tesco Girl.. I used to be because I don't drive and there's not much choice. but our local one is amazingly expensive. I feel like every time I go there everything I buy has gone up 10 or 20p than the last time. Things that were 50p went to 65, 75. 85, £1 and then £1,20. Just cannot affordto shop there anymore. it's crazy. M&S are actually way cheaper now

I’m also terrible at cooking rice. Though, I’ve had a Ninja Foodi multi cooker for the last few years and the pressure cooker on there does a huge quantity for batch cooking in around 5 minutes.

Oh my gosh, could we swap brothers, please 😂. I don't think mine could make his own ham and cheese toastie 😂. Agreed on the packaged fruit and veg. And the banana struggle is real: I prefer them slightly green to eat before a run, but then have to let the rest ripen for the banana bread, and when they're at their best for baking I am in no mood/have no time to bake 😂. Apparently you could then freeze them, but I have never tried....cliffhanger 😅.
Haha I love this, yes hes so good he doesnt cook for us that often but I'm lucky that he did this whole tapas spread! Yes this is the point I'm at now I have managed to keep two to ripen but i cant be bothered baking banana bread haha! hope you're having a lovely week so far. xx
